Too many character meals?

My opinion is that you're not doing "too many" of anything if that's what you want to do. This looks like a really great set of meals... have a really fun time!

I haven't taken a trip for this long, but usually I'll end up at Disney Springs every other night. I haven't considered making a whole day of it, though I heard it expanded substantially since the summer. Is there enough to do there for a day?

Not sure I will be spending the entire day there. But yea I can make a day out of Disney Springs solely because of the movie theatre being there. With the Jungle Book being in theatres then and Captain America being rolled out May 6 (so there will be preview screenings on the 5th) I will have enough to do. So just realized I will have to modify my dinner plans for that evening if I am going to catch a preview screening of Cap.

Way too many buffets in my opinion. While there may be a few unique dishes on each buffet, they are essentially the same. If you want characters without the buffet try Ohana for breakfast, Garden Grill for any meal. There are others out there that are family style as opposed to a buffet.

I travel solo a lot and I really enjoy have a table service meal where I am served and can relax. But if your goal is character meals as opposed to a good food experience I'd say you've done a fine job!

I love character meals so that is not the issue fo me, but I also think that you may be sick of buffets with the number you have chosen. I think I would probably scrap a few

As a frequent solo WDW fan, you can never have too many character meals. Some people might say "You're going to a character meal solo? That's weird." I used to think that, until I forced myself to go to one in my hotel once, just because it was a convenient spot for a big breakfast. Boy, did the time go by fast! It's so much fun to sit back and watch the characters interact with the families, and to interact with them myself. As far as photos, what I always love to do is to just hand my camera (or cell phone now) to the character and whisper to him "I'd reallylike to get my picture taken with you-do you think someone would take our picture?" Sometimes the character just goes to someone at an adjacent table and gestures to take our picture. Eveyone gets a good laugh and makes new friends!

I love buffets as a solo, mostly because I think you blend into the crowd a little better. I'm not sure why I think that's true... maybe because you can get up and walk around several times during the meal instead of just sitting with the same view.

I have thought of Ohana and Garden Grill but the prospects of 'family style' for a single is a little weird to me.

I am going to take out probably 2 meals with Yachtsman being the only must. Chef Mickey's is closer to the cut then keep. Especially with overlap from Tusker and Cape May (each is inserted because its at the hotel I am staying at on leaving day).

I thought that you might have too many buffets, too, and thought that you could change out Boma for Jiko. The restaurant is so pretty and quiet compared to Boma. I like the food better too (well, Boma has delicious Zebra Domes but you can buy some at the Mara on your way out!).

I will add Boma and Tusker House have a similar vibe although Breakfast v. Dinner is different enough.

In general it just seems like a lot of reservations to me and expensive unless your on the dining plan. Especially with the 24 hour cancellation period, I prefer to be more spontaneous on solo trips. I'm guessing several would be walk ups that time of year.

You have some very good choices:):) I do have the Garden Grill down for a breakfast one morning as I want to try out the new menu. Don't think it is weird eating where they serve family style:) You can have a wide variety of items to pick from and you can eat all you want without getting up out of your seat like at a buffet:) I am going solo in April and I also have a few character meals on my dining agenda:) As a veteran solo traveler to WDW I have found out in the past that when I am by myself the characters seem to pay more attention to you as a single diner:) That is fun:) I chose the Deluxe Dining Plan for myself this coming trip as I wanted to enjoy some of the 2 signature restaurants. I enjoy going vacationing solo at WDW and enjoying all my dining experiences, character ones or not:) Make the most of your trip!! You have picked some very nice places to dine, so eat well and enjoy your solo trip:):)

I would rather have buffets then sit down and then second guess my choice of a meal...buffets give me a choice of many items...have fun planning
