A solo DDP with a bottle of Antacid - Bula Grill....COMPLETED!!!!!!!

Loving your report so far. I am going on my first solo trip in March and your report has been helpful as I decide about my dining.

Looking forward to more reviews! :thumbsup2

Great report! Someday I will be dining on my own too since dh doesn't like to go and I love it!:thumbsup2

My first Magic Kingdom day. After a great morning of riding and discovering the Magic, I was getting peckish. Water was not keeping the hunger at bay. I was right by Splash Mountain, so Peco Bills was on the agenda.

CIMG1714.jpg

Deluxe 1/3 Pound Angus Cheeseburger and a Strawberry Yoghurt

The fixin's bar was fab. I piled mushrooms, onions, tomato on top of my already fat burger, along with hot cheese sauce and some salsa for the fries. I had to dismantle the burger and eat the innards...bread is the devil...but it was all tasty. I think I managed about 1/2 of the burger a few fries and a couple of spoons of the yoghurt.

Later in the day, I headed to Columbia Harbour House...I was eager to try the shrimp and fries

CIMG1736.jpg

Shrimp & Fries
These were unexpectedly delish. Really hot and crispy and not overcooked and you get a stack of them (I think about 12) The fries were really fresh too and the coleslaw was crispy and cold and not overley mayonaised!

CIMG1734.jpg

Apple Crisp

The apples where cut up super tiny and there was loads of cinnamon, it smelt better than it tasted..the pasty was really thick and the sauce was very thick...I only ate a couple of spoons of the inside of it.

DDP: 1 CS Credit. I would recommend this place for great fried shrimp but not for dessert!

I am so excited to read your report. I have been banded, too, and just have to wonder how you are drinking and eating at the same time? That never works for me. looking forward to hearing more about your eating adventure.

Oh My! Slap me on the wrists, 18 months after my trip and I haven't actually completed my dining review....I am a bad person, making you all drool over the photos and then cut off your supply....I had so many wonderful meals and snacks and I ate at every stall at the F&W Festival!

So, does one decide to post now, for prosperity sake, or does one not bother? I think I will (and rightfully should), just because I should finish it and I am also starting to think about another trip!!!!

My life has been out of control for those 18 months btw....moving to 3 different countries in that time!

Please forgive me!

Hey Roo! I'm loving your dining report and hope you'll continue it.

Sorry to hear that it seems as though life has thrown you a curve ball these days. Hope all is well.

Since I left the World, I have moved 3 times (thats 3 different countries :scared1:) Dubai to Sydney; Sydney to Cambodia; Cambodia to Sydney (for those that were wondering) and I seemed to have misplaced my notes , so my memory may not be as clear as I thought it was.....

But I do remember these little bites of joy!

CIMG1773.jpg

A mid afternoon snack from Casey's Corner. Fresh from the fryer, these little bites were hot, crispy, crunchy and delicious.

So where to start? I was so looking forward to this festival and had been researching the dishes for awhile...I arrived at Epcot right as the stalls were opening.

Just note that I am ashamed to admit that I ate ALOT of dishes at the F&W each day I went, but some of the plates I didn't eat alot of it...that's ok right?

New Zealand - Seared Sea Scallop with Vegetable Slaw and Lemon Oil
Wine - Villa Maria Private Bin Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

CIMG1835.jpg

The scallop was seared perfectly and the Slaw had just the right tang. As for the wine, it was crisp and cold!

Chile - Shrimp Ceviche
Wine - Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Sauvignon Blanc

CIMG1839.jpg

The two plump shrimp were awash with a spicy tomato based sauce (unusual for a ceviche) but with plenty of lime juice and topped with roasted corn kernals, which gave it a bit of crunch. The wine was lovely and crisp, but not as enjoyable as the New Zealand Sav Blanc.

Brazil: Grilled Pork Skewer with Farofa

CIMG1843.jpg

I was surprised by this stick of meat! The Pork was fairly tender but the dusting of farofa was different. Saw dust texture with hints of salt and spice. Farofa is widely used in Brazil and is made of a flour mixture with salt, spice and sometimes meat.

Brazil: Shrimp Stew with Coconut and Lime

CIMG1842.jpg

Shrimp, coconut cream and zesty lime, what else could a girl ask for....YUM!

Mexico: Frozen Mango Margahertia

CIMG1845.jpg

Nothing better than a frozen alcohol treat to cool you down on a hot day!

Korea: Lettuce Wraps with Roast Pork and Kimchi Slaw

CIMG1853.jpg

The roast pork was a little dry and the kimchi slaw and a definite spicy kick to it!

Korea: Barbecue Short Rib with Steamed Rice and Cucmber Kimchi

CIMG1853.jpg

I was dissapointed by the short ribs, they weren't as tender as I was hoping for.

Korea: Bohae Bokbunjajoo (Black Raspberry Rice Wine)

CIMG1854.jpg

Washed down surprisingly well!

So that was the first half of the day:rotfl:...up next Part 2 (but I gotta go eat as all this food porn is making me hungry!)

and the feasting continues in Part 2 (the afternoon session!)

Singapore: Shrimp Cake with Singapore Noodle Salad

CIMG1860.jpg

I didn’t like the shrimp cake (oddly as I usually love them). I found this very bland, cold and spongy…the cold noodles however were tasty with the sesame oil tossed through them.

Hops and Barley: Boston-style Crab Cake with Cabbage Slaw and Rémoulade

CIMG1863.jpg

I love crab cakes but being from Australia were seafood is super expensive, especially crab (and lobster) I was eager to sink my teeth into them. (are you surprised that our seafood is expensive considering we are the biggest island in the world?...yeah it’s a huge issue here)…I digress….

I have to say I was disappointed. Why? mainly because of the dill mixed through it. I am not a fan.

Hops and Barley: New England Lobster Roll

CIMG1864.jpg

Again, was disappointed due to the amount of dill sprinkled through it.

Hops and Barley: Boston Lager (I think)
Enough to wet my lips….

CIMG1865.jpg

US: Bison Chili with Wild Mushrooms, Cabernet, and Pepper Jack Cheese

CIMG1866.jpg

Well hello Bison Chilli! I am moving to Bison country and to meet me a cowboy, where I can eat chilli and saddle up a horse….this chilli was get my whip out delish!.

US: Heirloom Tomatoes with Oregon Blue Cheese, Red Onions, and Basil

CIMG1867.jpg

Really loved this dish. Cold and tasty with a wonderful bite from the Oregon Blue….I am hunting down the recipe!

US: Red Stag by Jim Beam

CIMG1868-1.jpg

Cold and icy refreshing, just what I needed as it was getting hot and I was parched! The glass was empty very quickly!

Spain: Seared Albacore Tuna with Romesco Sauce

CIMG1870.jpg

Another dish that I wasn’t overly impressed with. The tuna was way overcooked and the romesco sauce was gluggy.

Ireland: Lobster and Scallop Fisherman’s Pie

CIMG1872.jpg

Yum, yum and yum….the lobster was sweet and the scallop tender…nothing overcooked here! An absolute winner!

Desserts & Champagne: Strawberry Angel Verrine

CIMG1875-1.jpg

The only reason I ended up with this was because I wanted the tasting plate of all three but they had run out of dark chocolate sensation. It was light and tasty enough. I am not usually a huge dessert person, but occassionaly I will indulge.

Desserts & Champagne: White Star Impérial

CIMG1876.jpg

Sweet, crisp and lovely…Thanks Moet…

Puerto Rico: Medianoche Sandwich

CIMG1878.jpg

A choice just to say I had something from the country….I only took one bite…to much bread for me and at this point I was feeling rather full….I should have had the Asopao de Pollo (Chicken Soup with Rice)

Puerto Rico: Bacardi Frozen Torched Cherry Colada

CIMG1877-1-1.jpg

But this! Wow….an adult slurpee that was very cherry tasting……..yum

On the way out of Epcot I was super thirsty. No wonder after the amount of food I had consumed throughout the day and it was extremely hot (although not Dubai hot!)…so I stopped off at the Coke Centre to sample ALL of the offerings….This is what I thought of Beverly.

CIMG1906.jpg

I waddled out of Epcot that evening…..and I was hoping I was not the only one. I am like a bottomless pit today! Expectations were exceeded and I knew there was more snacking around the world to come….I felt I was going into food coma and the realisation that I had stupidly made an ADR for Olivia’s……..TONIGHT!!!!

Don’t ask me how I was putting all this food away. Its way to much even for a foodie, remember I am also banded but taking it very slowly (and not finishing all the food) I managed to taste everything I wanted and it seems that most days I didn’t have as much restriction as I thought I had (many would believe I didn’t have a band, myself included LOL!)

Tonight was one of those meals…it was the only night I could have done Olivia’s (even after my eating marathon during the day) and seeing that I had been upgraded to a deluxe villa at OKW (I was originally booked in at Port Orleans French Quarter) I had to give it a go.

Entrée (Okay, okay Appetiser! (us Aussies call it Entrée and Main))

Conch Fritters - served with Key Lime Mustard and Remoulade

CIMG1921.jpg

First time eating conch. A bit chewy and not a lot of flavour, but seeing its fried and fried well, piping hot they were good eating.

Slow-roasted Prime Rib - served with Olivia's Potatoes

CIMG1924.jpg

So bloody rare and tender and perfect, such a flavour packed slice of beef….and the potatoes were devine…unfortunately my stomach finally rebelled and I just couldn’t eat it all…I think that may have been a good thing.

Key Lime Tart - with Mango and Raspberry Sauce

CIMG2272.jpg

As mentioned earlier I am not usually a dessert person, but Lemon Meringue Pie (or in this case Key Lime Tart which is very similar) was beckoning. I took a small bite (for research purposes) and had the rest packed up to take back to my room. It was delicious. The Key Lime custard was wonderful and fresh (no artificial colours used here) and the meringue was gooey on the inside and torched perfectly on the outside.

But I think I may have gone to far today..:rolleyes1

Don't you hate it when you type a great report and then you get logged out (and don't save it!)...you gotta start again.

So here I go again!

When I was planning and plotting my ADR's I tried to make all my reservations at restaurants near to the park/area I was going to be that day. As I was heading for another day at Animal Kingdom, there was only one place I wanted to try for breakfast. Boma.

I was greeted and seated quickly and sat in the middle of the dining room this time...no out of the way corner for me this morning, I was eager to dig in.

I am not usually great in the mornings with my band. I knew if I went slowly and chewed a million times and got some protein into me, I should be okay.:rotfl:

For starters

West African Fruncha (a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice)

All I can say is refreshing and tasty!

Twinings English Breakfast Tea

I dont' seem to have a photo of these:scared1:

Plate One:

CIMG1934.jpg

Sausage and Biscuit Skillet, Bacon and Sausage Potatoes with red and green pepper and paprika, Scrambled Eggs, Brioche (like French toast, yummmy! with raisins), Bobotie - corn beef, eggs, cream, potato and onion and carved Breakfast Ham

This was all tasty, although I only ate half of everything on the plate (except my eggs, they all went). I have to admit I was surprised at the quality of this food. It was hot and fresh....and the restaurant wasn't too crowded.

Plate Two:

CIMG1935-1.jpg

Pastries, cream, strawberries, grapes, more bacon....I am sure there was another bits n' pieces plate that had the breakfast pizza and other goodies, but I can't seem to find it, either..:confused3.don't worry I wasn't dropping my game :thumbsup2

It was time to move on, things to do, people to see......as I left AKL I glanced behind me and saw the giraffes and zebras grazing in the Savannah....what a great, relaxing breakfast..

Roo,

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your crazy life (and all that moving) to do this awesome report! Your photos are gorgeous! DH and I have such F&W envy! Well, my kids, too!

Loving it!

Glad that you are enjoying my photos, even though the report is 18 months old! I was really surprised at the F&W Festival and am planning to go back soon (in fact I am considering this year!)...

After a busy morning in the park, working off breakfast with lots of walking, I was feeling a little peckish. It was very hot again today and I seeked some shade to rest for a bit....what better place than the seating around Flame Tree BBQ overlooking the pond.

In my research (and there was lots of trawling the DIS board for food porn!) I knew there was only one choice. Can you guess?

1/2 Slab of St. Louis Ribs - served with baked beans and coleslaw (D) and a basket of onions rings (OOP)

CIMG1999.jpg

St. Louis Ribs, baked beans and coleslaw

CIMG2000-1.jpg

Onion Rings

I ate about half the ribs, a spoonful of each of the baked beans and coleslaw (to taste). The ribs were tasty, covered in a sticky BBQ sauce, but a tad on the dry side...and the onion rings were tasty, although a little soggy as I think they had been out of the fryer a little to long.

Not that I was feeling like it, but dessert was included so I opted for the Key Lime Mousse

Key Lime Mousse

CIMG2001-2.jpg

All I can say is not for me...it looked nicer than it was! So overly sweet and just not to my tastes…..so I left it.

Next time, and passing on dessert, I would try Flame Tree BBQ again....

but its time to go ride Expedition Everest!
