A Smile in my Heart–Magical Week of Friends,Fun & Freezing-10/28-COMPLETE!

Hi Sara,
All caught up on your updates. I'm enjoying hearing about your cold and rainy MK day. You got so much done! Sorry about the rude family in line for Ariel :snooty: that is just wrong. You saw the same Ariel we saw this past June, but she was wearing her green dress instead of a tail. I'm glad Emily enjoyed Space Mtn and that the boys agreed to ride Small world. I love the pics from the BBB makeover. The girls look beautiful! I love their dresses too. Glad they were able to get Katie's hair up in a bun and that Emily noticed the missing Mickey hair pin :goodvibes.

Thanks Nichole! That bun was a miracle. I seriously don't know how she did it. :confused3

Sara

What a great BBB experience! They both look so pretty and their dresses are adorable. Great job getting that hair up in a bun! I hope the weather cooperated with you the rest of the day.

Thanks Michelle! I seriously couldn't believe that 1 - she got that hair up in a bun and 2 - Katie sat there and let her goo it up, comb it, goo it up some more, comb it up some more, pin it, etc, etc....

This is the child that cringes and pulls away if I hit one little snag in her hair and VERY CAREFULLY try to brush it out, using detangling cream, conditioner, everything I can think of. Geez. Maybe I need to find my inner FGMIT!

All caught up once again!

Those pics in front of the castle are cute....I can tell you are all just a little chilly!

The LTT breakfast sounds fantastic! We had dinner there in 2007 before they got rid of the characters, but breakfast sounds better! Peach french toast AND chocolate croissants....YUM! :)

It sounds like you were all able to enjoy the day despite the rain. I love the interaction with the stepfamily and the pics of Katie being silly on BTMRR.

The BBB pics are so cute! The girls look beautiful! princess: princess:

Whew! I caught up! Finally! :) I can't imagine having 2 reports going at once!

I've loved following your progress - it looks like you had a great time even when the weather wasn't being cooperative. And the kids looked great after their respective pirate/princess transformations! I can't wait to take my own kids there one day...

Woo hoo! Such a good BBB experience for both Emily and Katie. Wow, that Katie's FGIT was able to get all her hair up. Oh, and about the outfits, such great choices. Yes, the outfits BBB sells are expensive and very uncomfortable, had to find that out the hard way.

Reading through your trip report at the mo. Luvin your pic of all the dis kids and dis moms!

Thanks Missy! Yep - it was pretty chilly that day! Florida even had snow that day (in the panhandle and I think in Jacksonville). Oh man, that french toast was delish and I could eat chocolate croissants every day of my life and not get sick of them! BBB was a big hit as always! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading!! The BBB and the PL are both such great places for kids! I'm so glad they added them to the MK!

Oh my word - I never would have thought she could get it all up there. When we went in Oct 2008, Katie's hair was short and they got it up, but this year it was a good 2 or 3 inches shorter, so I thought for sure they would go with the 1/2 hair bun. I think the FGMIT was on a mission!!

Oh man - did you have one of the itchy dresses?? They are pretty though....just don't see them on my girls too long - they want them off pretty quick. Can't say I blame 'em!

Thanks! It was a great trip and I was so happy to be able to share some time with my wonderful friends and their great kids! :goodvibes

Oh I'm luvin the idea of resort hopping to get pressed pennies.. we have our last day planned as downtown disney and o'Hana character breakfast so maybe might include a while of resort hopping for pennies as well :)

Just thought I would share a little collage of the girls "reveal" pictures over the years! The left pic is from the big Thanksgiving trip in 2007, the middle pic is from Katie's 4th bday trip (actually went to the BBB ON her birthday) in Oct 2008, and the right pic is this trip. My babies have grown! Excuse me why I go hide in a corner and cry my eyes out!:sad::sad:

Picture2.jpg

(Emily was 4 1/2 in the first one, 5 1/2 in the 2nd one, and almost 7 in the 3rd one)

Picture1.jpg

(Katie was 3 in the first one - yes she sat on my lap to do it, and this is the one we nicknamed the "Bibbidi Bobbidi Beehive" for obvious reasons, LOL), 4 in the second one, and 5 in the last one).

Sara

Look how they've grown! I love Emily's expression in the first picture, she looks overjoyed. And Katie in present day - looking so serious and royal!

DH believes that 3-4 is the perfect age for a trip to Disney - big enough to be understand, to a degree, but young enough that everything is still larger than life and exciting. What do you think?

Oh definitely! 3-4 is a fabulous age! (Then again, there really isn't a bad age!) There's something new and exciting with each stage of childhood (and adulthood...:rolleyes1)

Hey - not only do you have a cruise ticker, but I notice a new WDW ticker!! Woo-hooty-hoot!!!!:banana:

Sara

Yes! We are going for spring break which is really early for us, March 12-19. I am over the moon about it! I think even more so than our anniversary cruise! We are staying at the same condo we stayed at in 07. :thumbsup2

Anyhoo~ nuff about me! :rolleyes1

I enjoyed this update so very much ~ I was all teary because their makeovers were just precious and then you had to go and throw in the collage! :sad1: I can hardly believe how big they are getting!

Looking forward to hearing how you managed to keep them dry. If poor Katie's head gets wet all that goo is going to turn to shellac!

p.s. I'd love it if Abby would do BBB just one time even though she will be 14!

Wow!!! The girls look amazing! All 3 times!!! Love BBB! Like you, we have always brought our own outfits!;)

Too bad for the rain though. I hope it calms down before you have to leave the Castle!!!

Yep, Chloe's dress was absolutely itchy. She didn't keep it on for very long. We weren't planning on buying one (I had brought a minnie outfit and belle dress), but we did anyway. She hasn't worn it since. Maybe one day with a tank underneath:confused3.

Oh, how the girls have grown. They are such beautiful princesses!

How is kindergarten going for Katie? Chloe is still worn out by the end of the day, but is really enjoying it now.

Emily looks so happy! Katie looks very regal in her last photo.
Katie never has the wide grin right afterwards like Emily - she is more subtle! :goodvibes

Lol! There was a LOT of goo in her hair, that's for sure!

I think Abby should do it too! It would be fun to do it with a friend at that age....makes it easier if there are a bunch of little ones around, to not be the only older girl. Maybe she could coordinate with a friend to go with her that day??? The FGMIT that did Emily said the oldest lady they had in there before was like 97 and she got the Pop Princess!!! :rotfl:

That is great that you are going back in March. I would love to get back this Spring, and this year the kids Spring Break isn't at Easter like it usually is, so I got excited thinking it might not be as busy as it would be on a normal year when it is Easter week. We'll see...but it's not looking favorable right now. We would probably do offsite again too if we went back so soon - just to save some $. Alternate onsite and offsite so we can go back more often. That's my hope anyway.

Katie LOVES it! She thinks it's so much fun! What a relief, right? :thumbsup2

Day 6 - February 12, 2010
Magic Kingdom
Chapter 6

Before we left the beauty “salon” area of the BBB, we slipped back into the dressing room for the girls to take a look at themselves in the full length mirrors side by side.

IMG00201-20100212-1429.jpg

Terrible quality, but I love that you can see both the front and the backs of both their heads!

Then we made our way to the front to settle the bill and head out. With the weather being so bad outside, they put these little hair covers in the girls' goodie bags. So we tied them on and took our" little old ladies" outside to find our stroller. :rotfl2:

The girls wanted inside the stroller with the thick plastic raincover over top of them, so that's what we did. It was their version of a glass carriage! Can you see Emily? LOL!

IMG00715-20100212-1520.jpg

My original plan was to bring them down to get their pictures taken at the Exposition Hall (where they were still doing the BBB photoshoots) but first off...we were starving. It was now about 2:30 and that lovely and huge breakfast at LTT was long ago, so we decided to attempt to go over to Casey's and grab some hotdogs and fries.

We flipped up our hoods on our ponchos and set off pushing our “carriage” through the castle and towards Main St. By the time we got inside, Katie was asleep and Emily was pretty close behind her....drowsy but not quite asleep yet. Mom went into the area that has bleachers and a few tables and tried to find a spot to sit down. It felt frigid in there and most of the seats were taken so she grabbed a spot on the bleachers that seemed mostly dry. I got in line and grabbed us a hot dog, some corndog nuggets (YUM) and an order of fries for us all to split. Along with some Cracker Jacks! Woo-hoo! :woohoo: When I found Mom, the girls were now both asleep so we just parked them over out of the way of people trying to walk through there.

IMG00202-20100212-1502.jpg

(It's not the best picture, but you can sort of make out the little hair bonnets they were wearing!)

We scarfed down the food and decided that we would go ahead and leave for the Poly afterwards and forego the photos. Katie was out like a light, and Emily was in and out of sleep, but sort of eating the French fries inside the “plastic” carriage, and Mom and I were cold and wet at that point, so we figured it was probably the best plan. This is one of those reasons I loved staying at the Poly. I loved that I knew I could be back in my warm hotel room taking a hot shower in a matter of minutes. :cloud9:

So we ventured out. No pictures at Exposition Hall, but hey....sometimes you just can't do it all. :sad2: On our way back out to Main St we heard a marching band and turned around to find these poor high school students having their day to "shine" in the Magic Kingdom Park by playing and marching down Main Street USA - unfortunately, in the pouring rain and near freezing temperatures. :scared: I seriously couldn't believe they were doing this, but I guess when you have worked really hard to get there, you are going to play no matter what!!!

Don't quite know if this picture truly captures the gist of this cold, wet day, but Mom couldn't leave without turning around and snapping a picture of these kids.

IMG00203-20100212-1510.jpg

Way to go, kids!!! I really felt for them but thought they were making memories of a lifetime for sure!! :grouphug:

So we headed up the monorail ramp towards the resort monorail and waited a few minutes for a monorail to show up. One came right away but we were just far enough back that we knew it would be pushing it for us to get all the way up to the front and board this one. Figuring we would have to wait for the next monorail, we made our way up to the front of the line for the next monorail and waited.

IMG00716-20100212-1533.jpg

(Emily looks cross-eyed here - not sure why – and she didn’t like wearing her little bonnet which wasn’t really necessary under the raincover anyway; Katie was still snoozing)

By the time the next monorail was pulling in, the crowd around us had built and had just filled in around everyone...no real line “per se” by each door gate. When the monorail doors directly in front of us opened, a whole bunch of people rushed onto the monorail, even though Mom and I were closest to the front. They just scooted in around us and by the time we were getting the stroller and pushing it up and over the lip of the monorail door, we realized we were not going to all fit. :sad2:

I was so aggravated, but I tried to keep my wits about me. However, I *may* have muttered something under my breath about how rude it was to have done that to two little girls who were cold and wet and who had been waiting in front of them in the line and for longer. I *may* have done that. I also *may* have said sarcastically, (again under my breath) "no, you take it...we will wait for the third time...don't mind us....hope you can sleep well tonight knowing you beat out two little girls for your precious monorail ride" or something like that. Maybe... :headache:

The next one came a few minutes later and there wasn't a large group of people waiting this time so we were able to board without any trouble and quickly be on our way. I was secretly hoping that the other monorail would be stuck on the track for a few minutes, allowing us to zoom past them in a perfect "karma" kind of way, but sadly that did not happen.

We got back to our warm Poly room, and found the boys lounging in the room. We had about 2 hours before our 'Ohana ADR so I laid down for a minute and then jumped in the shower. Shawn took some pictures of the girls in their makeovers.

So, it might not have been Exposition Hall, but here are the pics Shawn took of my two princesses.

So that’s about it for this update. My favorite meal of the trip is up next!!!

Sara

Who needs Exposition Hall when you've got Shawn! :) The pictures are adorable.

I'm almost shivering looking at the cold and wet pictures of Magic Kingdom. Ick. Love the "glass carriage" though, great idea. Sorry about the rude monorail passengers. :sad2:

Can't wait for 'Ohana - yummmm!

They look beautiful, as usual!!

Note to self: buy the $10 rain cover from the stroller company!! I was going to opt out of it, but obviously it came in handy. Also, the girl's hair bonnets were to die for :lovestruc

Glad you had a great time even though the rain came :goodvibes
