Day 6 - Chapter 4; Sub-Section B!
Hugs for Emily...
Talking to Katie...
From this point, we wandered over to Scuttle's Landing (now no longer there for the most part) to meet up with Pop Pop and Michael and got some popcorn and a yummy cream cheese pretzel. Um, WHY has it taken me all these trips before I finally got one of these tasty little treats? It was delicious!
We also got some coffees and hot chocolates to warm ourselves up.
Yes, I let the kids feed these little birds. There were hardly any people around so I didn't feel like we were risking making anyone mad, and they weren't even big yucky birds that I would have had a problem with! LOL!
(Love the bird sitting on Scuttle's scope)
We hit the restrooms right there and got ready to go when I heard Shawn say to Michael, "come on, buddy, let's go take a ride on Small World with Katie!" SAY WHAT?
This is an ongoing joke in our family - the girls both want to do Small World, and the boys wish it would get run down by a runaway Thunder Mountain train, forcing Disney World to replace it with something more exciting! So when I heard that, I had to do a double take. Michael kind of sighed but he actually went without a fuss! Those boys must secretly love it too!
Pop Pop and Katie went with Shawn and Michael, and we agreed to meet up at Philharmagic as soon as they were done.
In the mean time, Mom, Emily, and I went over to the giftshop next to Philharmagic. I think it used to be the one called Tink's Treasures and is now called Castle Couture. We were on the hunt for a Silvermist pin for Katie as it is her favorite fairy and she had not been able to find one all week. Well, we didn't find one, but we did find a Silvermist doll that we knew she would love. Emily picked out some jewelry for my MIL and also got a necklace for herself plus a charm for her charm bracelet. I got some earrings as well. Purchases in hand, we went back out to the Philharmagic waiting area and found them waiting for us.
Katie was very excited about her Silvermist doll!
(Boys???)
We walked right into Philharmagic and waited to be let into the theater for the standard 10 or 12 minutes. The show was great as always and we all enjoyed watching Donald and all his antics. Seriously, who doesn't love this attraction? It's funny! It's charming! It's silly! It's overall just happy!!! It has great music and features some great Disney movies, and is just so well-done you have to love it! Yum....APPLE PIE!!!
Shawn tried to replicate his 3D picture of Ariel and her hands using the glasses over his camera lens like he had done on our couples trip last May. He did a pretty good job, but I think the other one is slightly better.
With so much accomplished at this point, we decided to head towards Space Mountain to use our fastpasses and get Emily on for her first time!
Grandmommy and Pop Pop offered to take Katie for a spin on the TTA so we split up in different groups again and we were off to ride the "new" Space Mountain. At this point, the rain was REALLY coming down. Lovely. BBB appointments were in 45 minutes. Wonderful.
So, the four of us gave all of our stuff to the others to hold for us and we made our way over to Space Mountain in the rain and zoomed through the fastpass line and straight to the loading area. This was going to be Emily's first time ever riding Space, and also my first time riding it since it had been refurbed last year (the boys had already been on it the other day with Dave and Hunter).
We arranged ourselves so that Michael was sitting in the 3rd seat of the first rocket, and then myself in the first seat of the second rocket, with Emily behind me, and Shawn behind her and we were off. She LOVED it and I loved hearing her giggle the whole time behind me! I really enjoyed the changes that they made. The way they took off the stripes on the side of the rockets really make you feel like you are all alone out there in space. You can still hear other people, but you don't see where the other rockets are, like you used to. I thought the ride seemed a little smoother, but I think I'm in the minority on that one as most people I hear don't think so at all.
Anyway, it was great fun and when we left the rain was coming down even harder so we hung out in the gift shop for a while before deciding to make a run for the bathrooms across the way. We were pretty wet anyway, so we figured why not?
The rain was still coming down but had definitely slowed and we saw that a certain space toy was out for pictures, so we jumped in line. Without my trusty character-loving Katie with me, I had to convince Emily to go up and get her picture with Buzz. To do so, I had to agree to get up there in the picture with her...poncho and all!
Thank goodness for Photopass, because our bags were with the grandparents.
While we were riding Space and meeting Buzz, Grandmommy and Pop Pop walked around with Katie and did a little shopping. Then they took a spin on the TTA before coming to find us as we were finishing up with Buzz. We grabbed fastpasses for Buzz for later as the girls had not been on it yet this trip, and got ready to split up once again!
The girls were off to go to the BBB and the boys were headed for Adventureland. Yes, the rain was still coming down and the temps only seemed to be getting colder...
