Day 4 - February 10, 2010
Magic Kingdom
Chapter 3

We had just finished up in Toontown, but unfortunately missed the train that we were planning on catching. So we decided to walk on over towards Adventureland instead. Michael's presence was requested at a certain league where he was meeting up with Hunter to be transformed into pirates. On our leisurely walk over, we met up with a certain tigger who was so nice to pose for us on his way to his meet and greet location!

P2100546.jpg

As we got to the Pirates League, Shawn checked in and we waited for Monica and family to arrive. A few minutes later they were there and the Dads took the boys in to get the low down on the pirate experience. Here are our sweet boys before they were taken in by Jack Sparrow’s crew!

811-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

Monica and I sat and talked for a bit and the girls did the same. A few minutes passed before the girls were all asking for something to snack on, so I walked down a ways towards Magic Carpets and got them some popcorn.

Avast ye mateys....inside the Pirates League, the boys were being treated like the scalliwags that they are! First they had to receive their pirate names....

Then they chose what pirate they wanted to be transformed into. Monica and I both pretty much knew that they would pick the Cursed Pirate, but we weren't sure and we were sitting outside waiting so we wouldn't know until they came out. Here are some pictures of the transformation....

824-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

(yep…going for the “cursed” look)

830-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

(once she did one eye, Shawn said he looked like a puppy – hence this picture)

852-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

(taking the pirate oath….with the swords they were given came a command that they were not to slash, poke, jab, cut, carve, slice, or prod their siblings, parents, strangers, animals or Disney property! After agreeing to this condition, they were brought back to Captain Jack's secret treasure room with the condition that they could not take any pictures or ever reveal what took place inside this "inner sanctum".)

854-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

855-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

(Shawn said that the pirate doing Hunter’s makeup and the pirate girl doing Michael’s makeup were brother and sister and there was a lot of banter between the two of them – complete in pirate character the whole time, of course)

They were given the very cool face painting, the bandana, a sword and sheeth, a tattoo, an earring, some removable (nasty) teeth, an eye patch, and a medallion.

Meanwhile, outside, Monica and I decided to take the girls over towards Thunder Mountain to grab fastpasses for the group for later on. On our way back we ran into Woody! Katie and Megan were very excited. Shy Emily stayed a safe distance away for some reason and didn't want to get in the picture.

P2100551.jpg

As we got back to the Pirates League, they were finishing up and we were able to see our sweet boys who were now completely transformed and creepy looking cursed pirates!

859-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

With all of that costuming, they were quick to assume the characteristics of their alter-egos, so Shawn grabbed some more pictures outside.

(the teeth only got worn this once time – for a pic – they were too uncomfortable. Besides, he had his “teeth” painted on his face, so it didn’t really make much sense! LOL)

Obviously, it probably goes without saying, we hopped on board Pirates of the Caribbean right after that! Shawn excused himself to go to the bathroom, so I just let Michael go on ahead with his fellow pirate and ride in Monica’s boat, while I hung out and waited for Shawn. We weren’t too far behind them though, and since there was no wait, we exited and met back up with everyone again.

880-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

At this point, it was sometime after noon, and we both had lunch reservations around 1:00, so we decided to ride a couple more things together before heading our separate ways (to meet up later that night though). Monica had asked Hunter to list 3 or 4 rides that he really wanted to ride WITH Michael (since they were leaving this night to go home) and he chose POTC, Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mtn, and Space Mtn. POTC was completed, and we had FPs to use for the mountains later, which left.....Haunted Mansion! Perfect!

We headed back towards Liberty Square and waited 5 or 10 minutes before boarding our doom buggies where we all thoroughly enjoyed the happy haunts! :thumbsup2

After that, Monica and family were off to grab a boat ride from the MK over to the WL for lunch at the Whispering Canyon, and we were on our way to lunch at Tony’s!!

Coming up.....Bella Notte...and a special surprise!!!

Love the pirate makeover! It really looked like the boys enjoyed this. Did they get many comments the rest of the day?

Ready for a meal at Tonys.

I love those pirate makeovers! I didn't even know they did that! The boys look so cool! :thumbsup2

Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides! :lovestruc

I can't wait to read about Tony's!

Oh yes they did!!! Lots of comments! One of the CMs at Tonys mentioned how we needed to feed him - he was looking a little "skeletal"! LOL!

Yeah, the pirate makeover was a big hit! I was kind of hoping Michael would choose the traditional "Jack Sparrow" look, but figured he would pick the one with the most uncomfortable make-up! You will see soon how long it lasts! :rolleyes1

The Pirates League is awesome!!! The highlight of our week long trip was DD4 doing BBB & DS3 and DS9 doing PL. They really take lots of time with the kids. In fact, DD4 wants to do the Pirates League on our June trip....we'll see;)

I didn't know Woody was at Thunder Mountain??? Wish we could have gotten pics with him.

Fantastic pirate makeovers, how fun!! So sad your time with Monica and family is almost over. Can't wait for the next update.

The little girls package is so cute at the Pirates League!! She will have a blast! My girls had to pick between BBB and PL and are still very much "princess-y" so BBB it was. Who knows...in another year or so they might pick PL too! :confused3

Yep - Woody was right there between Adventureland and Frontierland. I think you can see Splash behind in one of the pictures. It was right there next to Splash! I have also seen him over near where Davy Crockett Donald is - near the shooting gallery, I think.

Thanks Tracy! I know - I was sad this was our last day together! :sad1:

I love the boys pirate transformations...they must have received lots of comments with both of them having it done.

Aww that's too bad that Monica and her clan were leaving after this day but luckily you guys were able to have as much time together as you did

Love all the pirate pictures! Seems like the boys really enjoyed getting into character. Ew on those nasty teeth though!

The sky looks so clear and blue in the Woody pictures. Looks like a beautiful day.

Looking forward to the rest of the day!

I hope you had fun at the OBX! Of course....I love NC. :thumbsup2

The pirate pics were great. I have been debating whether or not to take the kids.:confused3

AAArrggghhhh!! The boys look great! I'm so happy they finally got something special for boys! pirate:

We have yet to meet Woody at WDW. Great pics! :thumbsup2

Yep, the boys were in pirate heaven. Weapons, scary faces, nasty teeth, what more could two 8 year old boys want, right??

Thanks Michelle! Those teeth were nasty, weren't they? Blech. It was a beautiful (and chilly) day that day! :cloud9:

Woo-hoo - we love the OBX. I have been going there pretty much every year since I was 10 or 11 - we only live an hour and a half away in Hampton Roads, so it's easy to get to. I grew up in Va Beach, but still preferred to drive down to the OBX instead of going to the beach that was 20 minutes from my house! It's just so peaceful down there!

The Pirates league was a lot of fun for the boys, and I think the prices have aactually come down since they started doing it. Not a bad deal! :thumbsup2

Thanks Missy! I was happy they had something like this for boys too! Michael did the "cool dude" at the BBB when we went with the whole family over Thanksgiving in 2007 and he ended up actually having a good time, despite the inital "why am I the only boy in here" looks. (Another boy showed up while he was there, so he didn't feel too odd). But I was glad that he had something to do like this that was clearly more "boyish"! And to do it with a friend was so fun! :cool1:

Look at me....another update.....woo-hoo!!!

Day 4 – February 10, 2010
Magic Kingdom
Chapter 4

We made our way towards the hub and grabbed a few pictures of Pirate Michael "storming" the castle.

888-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

(Some of the scrims were still up around the castle....really didn't notice them much - and look at that sky!!)

885-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

When we got to the hub, we stopped to watch (and dance) to the Move It Shake It parade! I think it's adorable!!

Off to lunch!! I got up to the check in desk at Tony's and Shawn took the kids back in the Exposition Hall to look around. When he walked back there, there was a photopass photographer stationed back in the area where you (used to) go to have Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique pictures done (I believe that has now been moved to the gift shop behind the castle). The PP photographer offered to take some pictures of “Pirate” Michael and the girls.

Image0783.jpg

(All the cool pirates wear crocs, in case you were wondering! LOL!)

Image0781.jpg

Image0773.jpg

(Yes, “fancy” Minnie Mouse was with us all day today)

Image0766.jpg

Image0770.jpg

(Apparently, Michael wasn’t quite as threatening as he thought he was…)

The CMs at the check in counter told me that the buzzer would work anywhere in the building, so I went back to find my family and then we went all the way to the back where the theater and fun photo-op cutouts are located. On the way, we ran into this guy, so Katie had to get his autograph and picture!

P2100552.jpg

He was very funny and asked her all about Tinkerbell when he saw her name in the autograph book. He asked if she was really chatty and Katie just giggled.

After about 10 minutes, we made our way back towards the desk and had a seat in the waiting area. The kids quickly found the TV that was playing cartoons and plopped themselves down in front of it.

Another couple of minutes and we were seated at our table towards the back of the restaurant. I didn't take pictures of the food, but I know I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and it was delicious! HUGE and delicious!! Shawn got the Spaghetti with Sweet Italian Sausage and really enjoyed it as well. The girls both got noodles with butter (no sauce) and Michael got pizza. Real adventurous, my kids, huh?

Our waitress was fabulous and was very attentive. She was always checking on us, refilling our drinks, and she brought out the kids sundaes with candles in them for Michael and Emily's birthday celebrations that were noted on the ADR. We were very pleased with the food and the service at Tony's!

P2100561.jpg

For dessert, Shawn got the cheesecake and I got the Ice Cream Bomb. Both were very good, but I kind of liked Shawn's cheesecake more than my Ice Cream Bomb. Not that mine was bad, but just because cheesecake is my favorite!!! Being on the dining plan, sometimes I forced myself to try something different so that we weren't ordering the same thing.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/xx284/msalbin/MK/P2100562.jpg[/IMG]
(Michael was going to take a picture of me, taking a picture of him, and this turned out so creepy looking with his pirate makeup and eyes! Yikes!)

During our meal, I got an email from my mom that they had arrived at MCO and were on ME headed to the Poly. They had been delayed leaving VA due to ice on the plane. Yikes! Sounds so funny now, since we are suffering through days and days of 100+ degree weather right now! LOL!

This was the surprise!! The kids were aware the Grandmommy and Pop Pop were going to come for part of the trip, but they really had no clue WHEN they were coming. I figured when we went back to the Poly after lunch that we would just casually "run" into them! That’s what I was hoping anyways.

We settled up our non-existent bill (thanks to the dining plan and no additional food or beverage that wasn’t included, we just had a tip to leave….sweet!) and made our way back out to Main St around ten minutes after 2:00. Shawn and Michael decided to head up Main St and grab fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear to use later that evening and the girls and I decided to check out a few of the characters that were camped out on Main St!

[IMG]http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/xx284/msalbin/MK/Image0789.jpg

Image0792.jpg

Katie was in heaven and couldn’t decide who to see first!! Pluto, Pinocchio, Daisy, Chip, and Dale were all out and about for autographs and pictures. We jumped in line to see Pluto first!

P2100563.jpg

Up next, we got in the semi-long line for Pinocchio!

After about 10 minutes of waiting, it was our turn to see Pinocchio!

Image0795.jpg

Image0798.jpg

Image0800.jpg

Next up, we had a decision to make. Daisy (who had a fairly long line) or Chip and Dale (whose line was quite a bit shorter). I let them decide, and was actually quite shocked when they picked the chipmunks. I thought for sure Katie would want Daisy. I told her that Daisy might be gone by the time we finished up with Chip and Dale and asked if she would be ok with that and she said yes, she really wanted to see Chip and Dale! Well, ok then.

(Funny story, as we were standing in line for them, a Dad came up to his wife who was behind us and looked a bit flustered. They talked for a bit and finally he said, “that’s fine…I’ll just take her over to see this girly duck with the high heels”, and walked away. The wife chuckled and yelled back, “her name is Daisy, hon!” It’s so funny to think how people don’t know the character names!)

The chipmunks were, of course, very much in character and acting silly and misbehaving quite a bit. Emily (who if you recall has been very shy this trip getting in pictures with the characters) walked up to them with her “noodle” arms, as I call it….(when she is kind of embarrassed….she walks with heavy feet and hangs her arms down by her side and kind of slouches….LOL) and they immediately started playing with her little visor. They took it off and handed it back and forth between the two of them, one put it up on his ear, etc, etc, it was very cute and it got her laughing.

Here she is, looking embarrassed, as Dale was trying to get her attention:

By the time we finished up, Shawn and Michael were back from their fastpass run and we made our way out of the MK to head back to the Poly. We decided that even though it was chilly, it would be nice to take the boat back to the resort instead of the monorail. This turned out to be a great decision!

Quick shot of the monorail as we were leaving…
932-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

We took the blanket out of the bottom of the stroller to cover up with on the boat, and folded the stroller up in order to board. First stop was the Grand Floridian where we waited about 1 minute for a couple of people to offload, and then we were off to the Poly.

The plan was to go back to our room, relax for a bit, and wait for a call from Grandmommy and Pop Pop, but as we approached the Poly, I could have sworn I saw someone that looked just like my step-dad out on the swing at the Poly beach. I grabbed my cell phone and gave them a call, but while I was waiting for them to pick up, I got a closer look and realized that it wasn’t him. Drat! How cool would that have been?

Then my Mom answered and I asked her where they were and she said “we’re here!” I told her we would meet her at Hawaii since we were just getting to the Poly via boat. She said “I know. I see you!”

Holy smokes – they were JUST getting to the beach as we were pulling up on the boat!! It was so strange and I casually mentioned to the kids “to look closely at the beach and tell me if you see anything….”. All of a sudden their eyes got so wide and they yelled “It’s Grandmommy!” “It’s Pop Pop!!” It was so funny!

959-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

(The guy in the red is who I thought was my step-dad!)

As soon as the boat docked, the kids all jumped off and took off running down the dock and out to the beach. I just love this series of pictures:

Up next....we get a taste of the "good life" and there is a reason the lifeguards are dressed like they are hiking up Mt. Everest!!!

Beautiful update!

We had dinner at Tony's and really enjoyed it too. Love the area in the back for pictures. The girls had a blast back there.

Your pictures with that blue, blue sky really are gorgeous. I'm so glad to see Emily getting in the pictures with the characters. Chip and Dale are Danielle's favorite. Chip was the character to get her over her fear of characters on her first trip when she was 3.

My heart is melting looking at the pictures of the kids greeting their grandparents. What a special moment.

Love all the balloon pictures, they much such need pictures I think. Especially with the crisp blue sky. :cloud9:

Glad you guys enjoyed Tony's. We love it there too and I know it often gets bad reviews. More space for us then, right?

The creepy picture of Michael taking a picture of you taking a picture of him didn't show up. :confused3

The pictures of the kids running to their grandparents are priceless!! Love them! What great timing!

Thanks Nicole! Those pirate makeovers would probably be a hit with your boys!! :thumbsup2

Sara

I am not so sure... they don't like face paint. :sad2:

Love all the balloon pictures, they much such need pictures I think. Especially with the crisp blue sky. :cloud9:

Did you have martinis for lunch today, Michelle? :lmao:

I loved the balloon pics too! Those wintertime blue skies in the south are heavenly to this "raised in the gray north" girl! :cloud9:

Sara, I feel like your family has relocated to Disney World!
