A skeptical family of First-Timers take on WDW Nov 15-22** NOV 28 update

Love the purse! That is very similar in style to the park purse I use :thumbsup2

As for the tickets - I don't think they've ever themed the hard tickets to the event. The Halloween tickets are plain too.

Isn't that so weird? I mean it's not a big deal but the way Disney is so detailed with every little thing, you'd think they would make the party tickets a little more seasonal right?

It's an amazing sign!!!! :woohoo::dance3::yay: :cool1: :thumbsup2 :banana: :cheer2:

Tell me about it! It's been interesting because now that it's getting closer I actually have seen small glimmers of interest and excitement from David. I just can't wait for him to see the place!

My family always says that about me too!:rotfl:
Although I have yet to run into anyone while at Disney. But then again I've only been there twice and planning for the third next year.

We're just friendly gals :goodvibes! My mom can't go anywhere without running into people she knows either so I inherited it from her.

Hey Aimee! Welcome to our Disney world. I just started your pre-trip report. I am really enjoying it. I too am a hairdresser and not computer smart myself. I have a son who is 12 and not real mature for his age either. He loves computer stuff and electronics. Pickey eater does not even come close to describing him. He will not eat anything that grows in the dirt.(french fries don't count) No fruit, no veggie. Likes Chicken, Steak(only grilled) Plan cheese burgers. We are also planning our trip to Disney to stay at the poly in Feb.2012. Have fun planning. I always do.

We sure do have a lot in common!
Thanks for joining in. I can't wait for November!!
I'll have to fill you in on all the things my son ate while we were there.

Very cute bag!!! My park bag will be my wallet stuck down in Alexa's Princess backpack...which I will be carrying of course lol!

I'm so excited that it's September now because I can sort of say our trip is only 2 months away!
The really cool thing is that it is finally starting to feel like it's in reach because I'm starting to run into the situation at work where my clients are actually needing to book November hair appts. and I'm having to work around the time I marked off for myself:banana: I pre-book my clients and just yesterday someone tried to book something for Nov 18 and I was like "nope, we can't do that, I'll be in Florida!" I plan on working on Sat. the 12th of November for a half a day and then not coming back until the 25th!! yipee. I think that is 12 full days of work off and I couldn't be more happy:yay: Now, I am self employed and don't have "set" hours at work anyway (I work appt. only around the kids and whatnot) so technically I can take off however much work I want and when I want BUT I still do need to make money:laughing: Plus, I have lots of loyal clients that will hunt me down if they need their hair done. I can't escape for too long! But....anyhoo....I just can't wait for those 12 days off. Only 8 will be trip related but I need to take 2 days off ahead of time to get packed and situated and then a couple days after to lick my wounds from walking hundred of miles at Disney! To spice up my PTR, I'm going to toss in a couple photos on this segment. Here's one of my shop that I love but can't wait to abandon for 12 days in November!

So... another Dis friend on here does a Disney movie night every week with her family so I sort of wanted to steal that idea and get crackin' on refreshing the kids' memories on Disney characters and such. Since they are 11 and 14, there's not a whole lot of Disney watching in our house. Well I knew I couldn't get too "corny" with movie night or they'd roll their eyes and rebel but I thought it would be nice to watch a few flicks before November. Lion King is one I wanted them to see because I really don't know if they've ever really watched it anyway and I just loved The Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom and thought it would be a good idea to let them see the movie to sort of get "into the mood" and be able to appreciate the show at AK even more.
I had David round up the movie from Netflx or wherever and I literally had to chase the kids down and force them to watch it:lmao: Now, once it got going of course they laughed along and enjoyed our little movie time. I snuck a peek at David during the movie and he was snoring but my mission was accomplished anyway. All 4 of us sat and watched (or slept through) a pre-Disney-trip-movie together! Now, what should we watch next week?
oh....and I remember at the Lion King show at AK, that I loved those monkeys and for some reason thought there were monkeys in the actual movie but there really isn't except for that one baboon guy right??

On a finale note...There was a slight shakeup this last couple weeks though that I need to share. David works for a Korean company and he NEVER NEVER travels for work with the exception of having had to go to Korea last year for 4 weeks in a row. Well, a few weeks ago he tells me that he might have to go to Korea for a month again. I'm not thrilled with that idea of course but I basically told him that I didn't care as long as it didn't interfere with my Disney trip (my whole life is revolving around this trip:lmao:). He's like "oh, don't worry, they wont send me in November anyway". Well, a few days later he texts me from work and says "can we move the trip, I need to go to Korea in November?":scared1: Instead of texting back, I grab my phone and call his butt at work as fast as my fingers could. I'm like "NO WAY, I can't possibly change everything from plane tix to Christmas parties to ADRs to discounts, yada yada". Now....I love my husband and am grateful he has a good job so of course if I HAD to, I would make it work but it would be a giant pain in the behind. I begged him to figure something out and try to get his travel dates changed. Meanwhile I hit the computer and started coming up with a plan B. A big part of it is that I have that 40% room off bounceback offer so I wanted to be able to use that but it's only for select dates and I started pulling my hair out to try to figure out what to do. I also was worried about wasting the Christmas party tix money because we wouldn't be able to go to that if we changed the trip (because IF we had to change the trip, we'd do Oct instead of Nov). The headache went on and on. BUT....luckily, this agony only went on for two days or so because David was able to switch travel dates with a coworker that's going in October.:cheer2: So....a bullet was dodged. The trip is still on as planned and David will now do Korea the full month of October but he better not still have jet lag by the time we fly out on Nov 15!
Here's a pic of David in Korea last year (he's the one on the right.)

Glad to hear you didn't have to reschedule. I'm sure he's going to love the warmer FL weather after being in Korea in October!

Your salon is adorable. I wish I was a client. :)

awww. Thanks!
I have no idea what weather is like in Korea. I thought it was similar to here as far as being the same season, but who knows.

What a cute salon! I can't believe you almost had to change everything, how stressful. Now you REALLY deserve a vacation :thumbsup2

Wow - that must have been a stressful 2 days - uggh!!! Glad it all worked out though.

Your salon is so cute!!!

Oh, and I think I'll throw in a photo of our evil cat too. He will not be going on the trip (Thank God) but he wanted me to tell everybody that his favorite character is the evil cat that is owned by Cinderella's stepmother.

Thanks and nice to see you on here!!
if you are logged in, you should be able to go click on the "thread tools" link and there is something to click if you want to subscribe. Then...I'm sure there is an easier way, but if you want to see all the threads you are subscribed to, you go up to "user cp" and there is something there to click to see all your subscriptions listed.

Anyhoo....You want the evil cat? I'll throw in the fab couch too!:lmao:

I was powerless for several days, and now I'm on a mini-vaca, so I'm going to to a group comment to cover your last few posts.

1. Love the purse, and especially love the price.

2. My BFF (who is going wit me to WDW) is a hairstylist too, and her clients freak out when she goes on vacation. Like she is going to decide to relocate the one week she is gone.

3. Thanks for pointing out which one is your husband, I was confused.

4. We are doing theme nights too, it's easier for me since Noelle is a goofy Disney lover, and we watch Disney movies all the time as it is.

Thanks a bunch!:cloud9:

Your salon is so cute!!!

Thank you. Yep, it was a stressful couple of days. I just felt like I had to start from scratch and it was crazy. Probably would have had to given up the Poly too because I can't stomach the rack rates there and my bounceback offer wouldn't have worked for any other dates for us. Whew!!
Thanks again for reading along!

AWWWW, you're too sweet. I can't imagine a triplet party. I only have singlets (is that right?:lmao:) and birthday parties were always soooo much fun but lots of planning and work too! You are a super-mom, trust me. Parents of multiples area amazing I think.
So...any ideas on what movie I should force my family to watch next week? I want it to coordinate with some sort of ride/attraction of course. Thinking maybe Swiss Family Robinson since they have no idea what that is about and it might make walking through the tree a little more exciting?
anyway....thanks for following along still!

Yep, didn't want to confuse anybody so wanted to make sure I pointed out the hubster correctly.
Your BFF has to probably sneak out of town I'm sure. I have a couple clients already fretting about their hair because it's also holiday time when I go and you can't be walking around with roots during the Holidays of course!
Do you have any great ideas on what our next movie night should be? I want it to be something that will enhance a particular ride/attraction I think. My kids are pretty rusty on Disney characters.

awww. Thanks!
I have no idea what weather is like in Korea. I thought it was similar to here as far as being the same season, but who knows.

I'm not sure. Ask your husband about it? Mine had to go over there and I know the winters get COLD, as in snow and ice. Not sure how cold it is by October, but it's gotta be colder than Florida.

And that Korean guy is cute! He looks like somebody's dad! But unless your husband works as a re-enactor or something, I figured yours was the one on the right. Is that Korean Folk Village, by the way? I never got to visit it when I went over there.

So glad you didn't have to change your dates. I am always afraid that I will have to change on account of some family emergency. Boy do I know what it is like leaving your clients:eek::eek:. We went to WDW the day after Thanksgiving last year. I worked the day before and 1/2 day the day after. To accommodate the weekly ladies. Well, one forgot it was Friday:confused3 so she for got to come. That evening I am sitting at dinner in Georgia and who calls?:rolleyes1 Yep, the lady who didn't show up. She says can I come back and do her hair and then go back?:worship: Uh? NO!:scared1: I am 5 hours away. I will be back to work next Saturday. She is upset. Would you believe she called me 2 more times that week wanting me to come back e I have already been preparing them for Jan.31-Feb.7. She is not happy. Oh well we have a life too. They don't realize some off the things that we do for them. I set my hours around my family also not just my 12 year old but my Mother who lives in Tennessee. I have to go there on the spur of the moment sometimes.

Your salon looks so cute and cozy! Thank goodness you didn't have to change all those plans it would have been so stressful! And that picture of your DH is awesome.

Your movie night idea was great! I'm so glad to hear that your kids enjoyed it...that's a good sign! ;) What movie will you do next?

I learner how to subscribe!! yeah!! Thanks for showing me how!! Now your my first;):lmao:

I love your salon. My sister is a stylist, owns a Fantastic Sams in Colorado...being owner makes it hard for her to slip away. I sure wish I could find a sylist that I like and can be loyal too!

:scared1:So glad that dh could work everything out...that would be awful trying to rearrange everything!

:rotfl2:I love your description of your first movie night...kinda sounds like ours! I would suggest Toy Story...pizza...teenagers...2 big rides!?!
