A Sister & Brother Return! The Trip Report! Updated 10/31--Page 23!

:grouphug: :grouphug: I definitely think it was weird that no one came to see if you were ok. That said, I felt the "people" at HRH's hotel was pretty absent.

I dont remember seeing staff walking around but one of my fondest memories of HRH is how well you are treated, which is why I was bothered so much by this.

Oh no, poor you getting injured, sounds very painful. :guilty:

I agree, the hotel staff should have checked on you to make sure that you were okay and see if there was anything they could do for you, it is basic customer service.

Good at least i'm not crazy! As for the injury I lived to tell the story so it couldn't have been that bad right?? :cutie:

Ok. I'm all caught up now and looking forward to what's coming next. We've never been to Universal or HRH. Sounds like a neat place and I definitely think the girls would love the parks you've been talking about.

Cathy

Oh they would! They are at the perfect age for it too! If you can ever sneak in a trip there just once you only need about 1 or 2 days especially with the express pass!

I think it's crazy that the staff didn't ask you what had happened or if you needed further help when you asked for the ice pack. I hope your knee recovered quickly and that it didn't ruin anything!

Thanks! At least I know i'm not crazy :rotfl: They handled it a lot better the next day at the front desk, which im glad about...

no so great update but nice pics.

I think it can go both ways. the guy who got the ice pack should have said soemthing but then again you didn't stress to him how much in pain you were and he might have thoguht you were a crazy lady who needed ice.

Now though he should have inquired about the injury for sure.

Sorry this chapter didn't live up to expectations I promise a better one tomorrow!
Thats what i figured about the guy with the ice pack, i gave him the benefit of the doubt because i wasn't stressing the pain, but on the other hand I did limp up to him with my brother practically carrying me so i dont know...

I want a Mike one! They looked so awesome. Perhaps I should let Jill know...but seriously, MeMom...DELISH!:thumbsup2

My birthdays Oct 7! Me first!!

I hope your knee is better and doesn't give you any future problems. It's a shame that nobody checked on you then and there. There is no excuse for that.

Sorry to hear about your injury. I hope it didn't put too much of a damper on the rest of your vacation especially with the WDW portion coming up. With that said though I do agree that the HRH staff should have done something more, at the very least inquire with some questions regarding the injury.

On a lighter note I enjoyed "David's Thoughts" despite the incident. They gave me a laugh.

I meant about your knee being a bad update, not the writing itself.

I'm more of a classic rock guy, but I like Coheed and Cambria, Nickelback, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Coldplay, Boston (I love the crap out of that band), The Police, etc.

My cousin's your age and he and every single one of his friends love Boston ridiculously. I never really got into them but it's funny that you mentioned them, they love the crap out of them too  I love classic rock! I'm more into Elton John (my absolute favorite!), Billy Joel, The Who, Pink Floyd, Queen, Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Meat Loaf, John Mellencamp, Zeppelin, Steve Miller, Supertramp... all that stuff. Love it :thumbsup2

OK, I'm off to read the update now and I'll come back to comment again!

OK, just read the last update. I'm so sorry about your knee! UGH, I would have freaked out being away from home and without my parents. I agree, the hotel didn't handle it very well. I'm surprised no one asked what happened, even if it was just for their own liability. Very weird. I hope it started feeling better soon!

I just have to mention that my cousins live in Mahopac!

I have been enjoying your trip immensely and love the pics! Now you definitely have me convinced to try Universal Studios (my DS15 would love it!).

I'm SO sorry you hurt your knee!! I am on crutches right now after falling going out my garage door 4 weeks ago (3rd degree sprain - completely tore the ligaments). I can feel your pain :sad1:

We are all sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear about what happened next!

Either way I don't have work, and have a full day of being in the house, so I will definitely be finishing up this day tomorrow!

Coming Up: Who on the DIS finds out about the injury before anyone? What do we do that night that provided a lasting memory? (Hint: its not a park!) and how do I move on past this injury?? (

hint: she's extremely stubborn)

So if you're not working, you must be Dising....so where are our new pictures and stories? It's lunchtime in TN, and I don't have kids in the room, so I came to get my Dis fix. Not that I can see the pictures at school, but at least I can read the stories and visualize the action until I get home. Right now I'm visualizing you hobbling around on a lame knee wondering how you're going to make it through a long Disney trip.

Okay, I started you off. You can take it from there! :)

I'm glad I can't be smacked through a computer. ;)

Sorry for the delay, we had no power today! :scared1: I was beside myself! I decided to read a book which I couldn't put down and finished even after the power came back :rotfl:

So back to the report, it was about 6pm when we headed back to the room. We had 8pm dinner reservations at Mama Della, something I had been looking forward to! It is this AWESOME italian restaurant at the portofino bay hotel, another of the 3 Universal hotels. The good news was that I was now able to limp on my own without the use of a shoulder for support, so this had to mean I was improving! We retreated back to the room and I propped my knee up, using the 2nd ice pack for relief. We called the parents and successfully made them worry and therefore inquire each and every day "how is your knee now?" We also used this time to contemplate our night plans. Even before the injury we had discussed seeing a movie or doing something outside of Universal like miniature golf, but with said injury our choices were now limited. We decided on seeing "Stepbrothers" After dinner at the movie theatre on city walk. Not a traditional "last night" activity but it sounded very relaxing and nice to us!

When we left to go to the portofino, my knee was hurting but I was able to walk and I was in much better spirits! We took some pictures as we killed time around the lobby

We call this the paparazzi photo!

The portofino is behind the hard rock so we have a path that takes us there. Even with my knee, we decided the best thing to do was walk so thats what we did. The portofino is breathtaking when you walk up to it! Its georgeous!

We checked in for our ADR and waited about 5 minutes before being seated. We were going to catch the 9:30 movie, but I didn't realize how late it was until as the meal progressed the waitress was becoming harder to track down. Now this is just my impatient mind so for anyone traveling in the universal area: you need to eat at mama dellas! Its just so good! I ordered my usual Chicken Parm but David was sad to see that the chicken marsala he had picked out prior to coming here was no longer offered. The waitress found out they could make it anyway so David was happy.

As usual my food did not dissapoint, although David soon realized perhaps WHY the chicken marsala was taken off, he simply didn't like it. The waitress took notice and without asking she took it off the bill which I was grateful for. David and I split my chicken parm which he agreed was delicious.

Our neighboring patrons were enjoying dessert and we simply couldn't resist so we ordered one sorbetti to share! The waitress came bac with 2, explaining that they did not have the flavor we wanted and so she brought us the other flavors! Yum!

It was very good but I was stuffed! We also really really had to make our exit. My original plan was to explore the portofino a bit more but we no longer had time for that :guilty: instead, David had to run after the boat that was about to leave for City Walk and I did my best limp fast after him.

On the boat, I couldn't help but share my story with MeMom via text.
I don't remember the text exactly, it was something along the lines of...

"Hurt my knee, cant walk, haven't made it to Disney yet!"

This was followed by an immediate call from MeMom where over the automated boat message...

"We're on our way to City Walk! Where you can enjoy fine dining, cool shopping..."

...I attempted to reveal the details.

We finally made it to City Walk and I was feeling great because I was feeling less and less pain as the night went on! We were 30 seconds early for our movie and we walked into the empty theatre. I ducked out of the previews for the restrooms but returned just as the movie was starting!

IMG_4309.jpg

This theatre was really cool! The seats were leather and reclined, and although I spent most of the 2 hours rotating my foot trying to relieve pain, we had a great time and it was most definitely memorable! We really enjoyed the movie!

When the movie was over, my knee was back to full-fledged "i cant walk" pain. I had realized by keeping my leg stiff for a few hours had most likely stiffened my knee and now I needed to loosen it up. ALthough at first I was in a lot of pain, we walked all the way back to the HRH and it was probably the best thing. We entered the room, packed and prepared to check out the next day and head to Disney!

Knee does not sound good.

Thanks for your injury sympathies :) Luckily i can divulge that it didn't put a damper on the vacation but it was a nuisance!

I meant about your knee being a bad update, not the writing itself.

Haha oh ok!

OK, just read the last update. I'm so sorry about your knee! UGH, I would have freaked out being away from home and without my parents. I agree, the hotel didn't handle it very well. I know about your cousins, cool huh! Thanks for the knee sympathies! I had a slight freak out about my parents not being there just because I wasn't sure what to do!

I have been enjoying your trip immensely and love the pics! Now you definitely have me convinced to try Universal Studios (my DS15 would love it!).

Oh so you know the knee pain! lol! Yes youre DS would LOVE US! Its no disney but it has its own charm!

So if you're not working, you must be Dising....so where are our new pictures and stories? It's lunchtime in TN, and I don't have kids in the room, so I came to get my Dis fix. Your hobbling visualization was spot on! lol! We had no power most of the day but I just couldn't put down my book once it came back on! Its a short chapter just to round out the night!

OH NO!! I can fully feel your knee pain just reading this. I've been having my knees dislocate (aka go out of joint) since I was in 4th grade. Just by standing somewhere and turning wrong. It is a horrible, horrible pain - so I know what you're saying. I can put mine back in, too.

Sorry you had to go through such pain & the aftermath on your fun trip. That stinks that the hotel staff didn't handle it appropriately. :grouphug:

That really stinks about your knee!!! You were such a trooper to keep going -- dinner looks delicious! I am still laughing over David's paparazzi photo!

I was thinking about you today. I am glad all you did was lose power!

What'cha readin'?:confused3 :confused3
