Im not sure, but does the monorail at Disney World connect with all of the resorts? some what? im trying to plan a welcome dinner and Im just trying to figure out the logistics for people who will not have rental cars.

The monorail connects to the Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Polynesian Resort...it also connects to Magic Kingdom Park (of course, lol), ticket center and Epcot.

Just the 3 resorts mentioned above and the MK, Epcot and TTC. If they are staying at a non-monorail resort they will have to take a bus to the closest park and change to another bus to the resort where the dinner is being held.

If you are looking for locations to have a Welcome Dinner, best place to do it is at Downtown Disney, that way everyone can just take a bus directly to Downtown and back to their resort. We are having ours at Paradiso 37...

That's a great idea! :)

Disney has a plethora of transportation options aside from the monorail. Each theme park has a "resort area". For MK, the resort area includes: Polynesian, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Ft. Wilderness. The first three are on the monorail, Ft. Wilderness is accessible via boat. I'm not as familiar off the top of my head with the other resort areas, but I believe all of them have hotels that are accessible by boat as well as being in walking distance.

Aside from the ease of access for the hotels in your resort area, busses run from the hotels to the parks as well as DTD. If your welcome dinner is at a resort, that will make it more difficult as those who are taking busses will have to take a bus to the parks or DTD and then transfer to a bus to that specific resort. (Or take the monorail if it is one of the three monorail resorts.)
