A Salute to Food & Wine but Mostly Wine..12/21 FINAL THOUGHTS...a Solo Trip Adventure

Oh, I just love that you started your trip with a glass of champagne in France and a Bellini in Italy. How absolutely heavenly!

If that teenage boy only knew that about all the rest of us light lovers out there! :rotfl:

Your descriptions of being able to walk to Epcot from the Beach Club have me salivating -- it's a good thing that the Beach Club is too pricey for me or I would be trying to decide if I should switch to staying there! :lmao:

40% off codes, DVC membership and/or AP discounts make a lot of things possible, Jackie. I'm just sayin'. :rolleyes1

That boy thought I was SO uncool!

Since I'm on a roll, I figure I'll press on. I don't have much time to update during the week and I'm itching to get started on my December PTR so I'll take advantage of the updating time when I have it!

On my way out of Epcot I grabbed a fast pass for Soarin’ for later. Return was between 6-7. I also went over to the Living Seas. I’d never been on the new Nemo ride. As I went through the queue there were kids as far as the eye could see saying “mine, mine, mine.” Cute the first few times. Cute is not the word that comes to mind after the 100th time. In line I met a lady who was also solo and fitting in a few rides before she headed to the airport. So she and I rode together. I thought it was cute. But not great. The starfish at the end is adorable.

On my way out I had to hit Spaceship Earth. I’d heard so much about the changes and couldn’t wait to see them. It was pretty much a walk-on. As I loaded in my vehicle I was very conscious of making the right selections on the menu. I’d heard trip reports where toddlers chose Japanese and the whole “trip” was ruined. So I was very careful. I managed to choose English. I was however tripped up and ended up with Puerto Rico for my location instead of Connecticut. Oops! :sad2:

So off I went through the ride. Overall I didn’t hate it. I think I prefer Jeremy Irons as the narrator but didn’t hate Dame Judy Dench. Glad they only tweaked some things and left some other familiar things like Michaelangelo and the smell of Rome burning. I thought of all you DIS’ers at the scene w/ the woman in her yellow tights and go-go boots.

Shortly I was hearing this:
“Por favor mantengense alejado de las puertas.”

I love the monorail! And before I knew it I was at the Magic Kingdom. And even thought I had scoured hundreds of pictures online, none of them did it any justice. It took my breath away in person. I just love the fall decorations!!

As I got there the afternoon parade was about to roll through so the street was pretty well blocked off. I did manage to get a glimpse of this:

You can see the weather is something short of sunny but at least it is not raining! A few more shots of the Main Street area before I duck into a shop to scout souvenir purchases… I mean avoid the parade and make my way toward the hub! ;)

Ahhhh, I'm here, I'm caught up, I'm lovin' it!

First off, Ken the CM, he is why Disney is a great place for a solo traveller! How awesome for him to make you feel so comfortable and welcome! Yeah to Ken!

Love your pictures, how funny about the teen boys! LOL! Yes there are quite a few of us that like taking pics of lamps and walls and heck even burger grills. LOL!

Sounds like a fabulous start! That Beach Club sure is beautiful! I would love to stay there this August with my Belle, a 40% PIN is our only hope (do you hear me Disney Destinations? Send one my way!).

Allyson

Wow, the BC is beautiful!! I love that beach.

And yea!! for Ken! BnC sounds very yummy...I wish we could fit it in this trip, but it's one of our 40 million reasons to go back. :goodvibes

The beginning of your trip sounds so nice and relaxing, strolling through the countries...wonderful pictures too!

Looking forward to more!!!

Ken is a rockstar! And he probably doesn't even know it.

That's the great thing about the DIS community. A place for all of us "nuts" to come together and make new friends. :goodvibes

Are you listening Disney discount gods? Please send some 40% codes our way!! :worship:

Oh yes, BC is GORGEOUS. And that's the fun of Disney. You never cross everything off the to do list so there is always a reason to go back! Wilderness Lodge is currently topping my "reasons to return" list. :rolleyes1 So I'm especially looking forward to your TR. :)

You are an updating fool today....and I love it! :goodvibes

First off, I have to say how extremely jealous I am that you get to the fall decorations as well as the Christmas decorations this year. :cloud9:

I thank you for taking one for the light team and taking a picture of the lamp. I got a few weird looks when I was taking mine too. :rotfl2:

The walk from BC to The Gateway sounds delightful. Very, very tempting. ;)

So are you going to get an annual pass next year too for your December '09 trip? :rolleyes1

Oh, I'm a fool alright! ;) I have serious post Disney depression. Last weekend I was in the happy place. This weekend... I'm not. But I am DIS'ing and a lazy Sunday of DIS'ing seems to be just what the Dr. ordered. Minus the carple tunnel. :confused3

Yes, I am quite blessed. But you will be seeing the Christmas decorations (relatively) soon! :goodvibes

I can't say enough about the 5 min walk from BC to International Gateway. It is AWESOME. :worship:

Hadn't thought about when I'd renew the AP but it's defintely a question of when, not if. Don't you worry, my friend. :goodvibes

WL looks so nice!

Hey Christine!! I was on another thread and they were talking about a special pair of glasses that are being given to passholders for the Osborne Lights in Dec... guess they're etched and make you see snowflakes and stuff:confused3 .....

Better check out the AP site at waltdisneyworld.com before you go in December and see how to get a pair of these babys!!

Paula

Your report is going to be so dangerous for me. The more I read, the more I want to be staying near Epcot next year. Between you and PrincessKeyBlade it looks like I'm going to be scrapping up every dime from between the cushions to afford it somehow.

I'm thinking a glass of celebratory champagne is going to have to be on tap for me next year too.

Wow, the fall decorations are amazing. But the Christmas ones are way better. ;)

I would have to agree with you about hearing the same phrase over and over again - I am pretty sure I would have been twitching at that point!

Those fall decorations are beautiful, aren't they?

Very intriguing up nexts! I can't wait!

I just found your TR and am really enjoying it.:goodvibes Looking forward to your Tutto Italia review. Your fall pictures are beautiful. I see you'll be there in December when my DD and I will be there. Is this another solo trip? I went on my first one last year and really enjoyed it. This time though its me and DD 21 trying one or two drinks around the world :rolleyes1 and having one or two drinks lounging in the hammocks at CBR.:woohoo:

I so would have been like that kid thinking you were weird. Now, I'm the weird one! ;)

Great update so far!

But you must fill me in on the significance of the lamp. And what is LL?:confused3

Your trip sounds awesome so far!
Thanks! It was! And it is almost as fun the 2nd time around as I relive it through the TR. :goodvibes

Thanks for the tip! I will have to check that out!! I am dying to start a December PTR but feel like I should finish this first. Stay tuned. I may change my mind!

I HIGHLY recommend it. And the champagne too. ;)

Wow, the fall decorations are amazing. But the Christmas ones are way better. ;)

I am so lucky that I will get to see both. I can't wait. :)

Thank goodness the line moved quickly!

I'm looking forward to telling you about the next installment. I was so excited about the celeb sighting and dying to tell you guys but I can't DIS from my blackberry. Reason # 999 I want an iphone!

Welcome! Thanks so much for reading along. Yes Dec is another solo trip. My friends here don't get it. :confused3 But it is during Mousefest so I know some of my online buddies will be there and I hope to meet up with them for a blend of solo and group time. Are you eating at Tutto in December?

I so would have been like that kid thinking you were weird. Now, I'm the weird one! ;)

 Yes, I'm on the "other side" of a LOT of things I thought were weird!!:)

Great update so far!

But you must fill me in on the significance of the lamp. And what is LL?:confused3

LL is short for Lady Lallie.... she posts here too:goodvibes

LL has a thing for light fixtures at WDW!! They are very pretty.

She even started a thread... for light fixture pics
AWorld of Lights:Light Fixtures at WDW

You should check her out... she's alot of fun:thumbsup2

Well as Paula said, LL is Lady Lallie one of the many new friends I've made here on the DIS. She also recently took a trip (you should check out her TR) and discovered a love of light fixtures. And as she's been sharing her pictures I've become more and more intrigued. Something I've never noticed before at Disney and they are so detailed, matching perfectly whatever the area is. They could have thrown up regular lights but they don't , they pay attention and that's reason # 999 why I love Disney. :goodvibes
