A Salute to Food & Wine but Mostly Wine..12/21 FINAL THOUGHTS...a Solo Trip Adventure

Welcome! Thanks for coming over. An extroverted introvert... wonder how many of those there are around! ;) I hope a solo trip will be as cool as I think it will be... I guess I'll let you guys know!! Very cool that your DH likes to go. I think that will be a must as I continue the quest for Mr. Right!!

Yes, it has to go on the "MUST" list because otherwise you have to go through the whole converting him to Disney...and sometimes that works out, but sometimes it sounds like a very long process...thankfully DH and I first went in 2006 and both became Disney World-addicts. I'm a teensy bit more obsessive...and the planner.

Every time I call Disney about something with the trip they ask if I have made our ADRs. I just wanna say "Uh, ya! Duh!" They should really send that email out RIGHT when someone books a trip and it could have their 180 day window listed. But then again, it would make places like LeCellier even harder to get into probably!

Love the old skool pic. :thumbsup2 And :yay: for ONE MONTH!!

I just found your TR tonight and sat and read the whole thing. I have to admit that I'm envious of your solo trip! I often wish I could sneak away and go it alone at Disney! You sound like you have everything all figured out! Can't wait to hear what you think of the F&W Festival! :goodvibes

:welcome: So glad you're here! I can't wait to see what I think of Food and Wine either! Although I'm pretty easy to please... the food/wine/Disney combo has me pretty giddy!

"must love Disney" it's on the requirements list now for Prince Charming! I can't even IMAGINE what it would be like trying to get dining reservations if everyone understood the "strategy." What percentage of guests do you think are 'informed'?

Woo hoo!!! :yay:

28 Days!!!

:wizard: :woohoo: :dance3:  :yay:  :dance3: :woohoo: :wizard:

Yikes! I remember when the countdown was a crazy amount of days. 28 sounds actually do-able. I think I can survive 28 days. :cool1:  :yay:

BTW was perusing allears today and saw that there are new updated (9/08) menus for Le Cellier and Beaches 'n Cream both of which are on my list. No change for me in terms of what I'm ordering but I do love updated menus. I also saw that 9 Dragons has re-opened. The pictures look really pretty!

It's gotta be pretty low if Disney goes to this extent of the email and asking on the phone all the time...when we booked our trip waaaay back in Feb. the CM on the phone commented about how smart we were for booking now. He said they get TONS of calls of people wanting to book for "next weekend" and expect there to be rooms open, dining, etc. :sad2:

You got it! I just checked out the pictures. It looks fun!! Although I will say that the queue lines make me nervous. I know it's Disney... how could there not be lines? I just hope that they are manageable. But I'm pretty sure I can manage anything in my happy place with a grey goose slushie or some other concoction in hand!! ;)

I also came across the official F&W program

From what I understand, if you avoid the weekends, the lines aren't bad at all!

Off to drool over the brochure! :goodvibes

I find myself in a DVC state of mind. Oh, how I want to be a DVC owner. To "own" a piece of the magic. To have all of those trips laid out for years to come. To have them say "welcome home" everytime I go back. :cloud9:

Of course, thinking about this in this economy may be crazy. And I have NO idea where I'd get ~$16,000 from. I don't exactly have that lying around anywhere!

BUT that doesn't stop me from dreaming.

I've seen the pictures of the new "BLT" Bay Lake Towers (did anyone think about the abbreviation before they named it??? :confused3 ) and I'm not sure that decor is for me. Although walking distance to MK and possibility to view Wishes from my balcony is awesome!

AKL is tempting as is Wilderness Lodge. And I will soon be checking out Beach Club Villas for myself.

But I think that Old Key West is the one for me. We stayed there in '06 in a 2bedroom villa and it was perfect!! Nice and relaxing... perfectly removed from the hustle and bustle. I wish I were there now!!!

Maybe someday.....:wizard:

Those pictures are just beautiful. DH has been on a DVC kick. He really wants to buy in. As much as I would like too, the whole not having enough money thing is a real bummer. :lmao:

3 weeks...there YOU go!!!

2 weeks for you that's awesome! I wish we were overlapping!

3 weeks??!! OMG- is it weird that this totally freaks me out?? I've been counting down for what feels like forever and now that it is creeping up I feel totally unprepared! There's so much to do!! I feel :scared1: and :cool1: all wrapped up in one!!!

OK repeat after me (clicking your red heels may help :lmao: ) "Someday I will own DVC. Someday I will own DVC."

Now that you are in the right frame of mind, wait until you are ready and then pick a resort that you like. From a cost point of view, since you enjoyed OKW, when you are ready, you may want to look at OKW since it has the cheapest resale cost of the on-site resorts.

I'd be more than happy to extend my trip:lmao: but I think DH would have a heart attack!!

I know how you feel!! I have to get EVERYTHING done this week... Tonite is my last nite to work for the week... so I have the next 7 off. Then i work 3nites...then vacay starts YAY!!! Unfortunately with the long overnite shifts...i accomplish NOTHING on days that I work...except a shower, and that is about it:rotfl2:
In a way it seems almost more stressful only having ME to get ready to go... because I have to make sure those staying home have clean clothes and don't starve!!!LOL:rotfl:

I've never had to worry about going grocery shopping BEFORE a vacation!!!
