A sad day for JJ!

Today is a very sad day for me, indeed.



It is the last day my cleaning service will clean my house.

Yes, starting after today, I'll be the one using cleanser and furniture polish in our humble abode instead of the lovely women who have been cleaning for me these past 6 years.

I will miss them sorely, but since I'll have the time to clean myself and I'm healthy enough to do it, from now on, I'll be doing the housework in my house. Sigh.

Oh my.

I had a cleaning person exactly once. A friend talked me into it, she said I would be so happy, it would free up so much of my time, etc. Well, as it turned out I had to clean the house even more than I already do because I didn't want to put the cleaning person out ( ), I also had an issue with her inside my house touching my things without my knowledge. I ended up taking a day off from work just to supervise.

I do have house issues, of course. Cleaning issues as well.

Snoopy, LOL! That reminds me of my sister. She had someone to come in to clean once or twice. Of course, she cleaned everything herself first, because she didn't want the cleaning lady to see things in a mess.

(just kidding! As long as you don't tell me you and your husband are now seeking therapy because you have changed your sleeping habits, I'm o.k. with your vent about not having a maid. We all indulge in something - instead of a maid I spend money on clothes and shoes - and if I had to give those up I'd be boo hooing here, you can be sure of that! )

My MIL and FIL always had a house cleaner .. she would clean the rooms up so the cleaner wouldn't see how messy they were..


My FIL would always argue about that!

Almost everyone in my town has cleaning ladies. Our family is one of the rarer ones who do not. Most of the cleaning ladies will not clean a "cluttered" house - there can't be stuff on the floor, no magazines piled high on tables, no brushes on the bathroom counter left out, etc. Many cleaners have this as a requirement prior to cleaning. I find this is the reason the house is "cleaned" by the parents (or babsitters!) before the cleaning ladies come - not as much that anyone cares about the cleaner's opinion (at least here, that is!).

We don't have a cleaning service since we have the classic cluttered house - once we tried to get a cleaning service, but they said our house was too messy so they refused to do us! That's why we don't have one and won't get one!

I love my cleaning lady, she does everything from laundry , dusting, organizing closets, throwing out toys that the kids have outgrown, even walks the dog.

My cousin used to have a cleaning lady and when she moved I thought my poor cousin would have a fit. She has another one though now. Alas I am my own cleaning lady!!!
