A sad day for JJ!

When I went to work full-time, I hired a cleaning lady. She did not do a good job at all. My teenager did a much better job. I decided to hire her. Not for daily chores, but hard jobs like scrubbing the bathroom and doing the wood floors. It was a sad day when she got a "real" job and I had to start cleaning again.

After one of my surgeries, I was unable to lift anything over 5 pounds for 6 months. I could also do no twisting or bending. My best friend at the time came over weekly and cleaned my house. She did a great job, and refused any pay. It was great.

Now it's just Stephen and I (and the church intern for a few more weeks) so I do all the cleaning. I hate it, but it doesn't take that long.

Don't you just hate it when the reasonable side of you just won't let you have fun? :teeth: DH insisted that I start cleaning our house when I became a housewife. He's so picky. :p

so sorry to hear that JJ
Cleanings not all that bad, I enjoy it. I spend quite a few hours a day cleaning my house, you'll get used to it!

I had a housekeeper years ago, she was the best. She taught me a few things and I thought I was "Miss Sanitary".

My housekeeper is my DH, so I think I'll keep him. He's also the gardener, the pool boy (if blow up pools count) our financial planner and my personal shopper to boot!

I think HE would like to get a cleaning service... but then he'd probably have to get an outside job to help pay for it :D

I know exactly how you feel! My cleaner gave notice 3 weeks ago so he could move to Iowa for love! While I am very happy for him, I am also very sorry for myself :(. I need to find another housecleaner ... and fast!

BTW, I pick up for my cleaner but I don't "clean". I figure the cleaner needs uncluttered surfaces to really do his/her job!

Why do you need one to come on Saturdays? Most work during the week.

I would love to have someone come clean for me, even if it was only a one time deal!
How about if you compromise and have one come maybe once a month and do a downhome ultra cleaning?

Oh, I miss those days.... every other tuesday, running like mad to pick up the clutter (yes, hence the name) so my service could clean. Then coming home the next day to a really clean house! Heaven. But no, I had to trade that for a bigger mortgage and a yard. No, can't afford a lawn service, so I'm getting it inside and outside. Worth it, but boy do I miss those days....

I feel your pain, can't wait until I can afford it again. I'd like to see my kid on weekends again! (and no, one room at a time doesn't do it for me.)

it would take way to long for me to get my house clean enough for a cleaning lady to see it
