A/S Music May Not Open On Time- Rumor with my personal clue

I've been watching wait times all week and it's VERY slow. And I know it's back to school and also the loss of fast plus makes lines shorter but the vlogs and pictures also show very low crowds across all parks. I think Disney ticked a lot of people off and they're taking a stand. We also did the "let's just go and see how it is" Covid trip in November of last year and we agreed without lowered prices for the lack of things open, or those things completely reopened, we wouldn't be back. When things started to look up we scheduled for January of 2022 but who knows what that will look like now. We are staying at POP and I check daily for discounts. I feel like Disney is gonna use a free dining or room discount to try and entice people AFTER the 50th. The way I see it is we have 18 months to celebrate, why rush and go now when things are still unopened and Covid is going crazy again? If they want sell outs THIS year, they're gonna have to give us something.
I wish I could share your "uncrowded" future vision with people not going, but we usually go first and second weeks of December which is usually between Food and Wine and the holidays. I checked this morning hoping to see plenty of availability. Only one hotel (AK Kidani) for the dates we are there. Not many people are "taking a stand" that week it appears.

Same. We are going the week of Christmas - which I know is a busy time for WDW. I need to cancel a day, to make up for buying tickets to the Merry After Hours event - my TA is out of town. So, I wanted to go online to get an idea of how much we should save - but I can't. . .as the WL (where we are booked) has 0 rooms available over that week.

I am selfishly hoping that the resort isn't open at 100%, rather than thinking it is booked at 100% that week.

I used 2022 to get a rough idea, since it is just about budgeting on a spreadsheet.

but from the sounds of it if disney has pulled availability for ASMusic then it would appear full, but actually is just closed. Could be doing the same to other resorts? I don't know I just feel like they are going to have a slow winter.

Did i write this? sure sounds like what i would have said exactly.

I wont be back for awhile, Disney used Covid to take advantage of guests. (lack of fast passes during the summer crowds)

I knew I would miss all those things, but I underestimated just how different it would feel and how much I would miss them. The lack of FP did not help, but it was mostly all the things we love the most being gone. It got boring just standing in lines waiting to ride the next thing with nothing else to break it up. We wanted to see HEA one last time and we did, but I left with no desire whatsoever to return under the conditions that existed that trip. It was a strange feeling being glad to leave and not having that sad feeling about it. I was mostly just relieved it was over- and that's not the feeling you should have after putting out thousands of dollars.

I couldn't agree more that Disney has capitilized on the pandemic. They just can't use the crutch of safety to explain why things are not back yet. When CM's are telling us to fill all available spaces, when they bring back buffets and when they pack people in like sardines on the busses and at HEA, safety is not an excuse anymore. It's pure cost cutting measures now and I'm not willing to put up with it.

They could've discounted resorts to make up for no housekeeping, cut ticket prices to reflect the savings they're enjoying with reduced hours and fewer employees- but they didn't. They grabbing all they can, while they can, but the last that they'll get from me for now.

did you feel like EPCOT had lost its soul? thats how we felt

I went in May and I didn't feel like things were too bad. It wasn't as insanely crowded, but things were scaled back. I actually liked how fast the lines moved without FastPass. The lack of shows was noticeable, but it was also nice to not have to plan around them so much, like getting that spot for fireworks early. We had some great sit-down meals and enjoyed ourselves. It was a more relaxed trip. The magic was definitely alive though.

Yeah, we went last December and wore masks 100% of the time but still had plenty of magic. Lots of our fave restaurants were closed and services very limited. Paid pretty much full price. But, we understood coming off of months of closures at the parks across the world. We went to support those CM's that were working and felt like we were helping them get through a tough time. I had no problem with it. Loved the trip.

I honestly think there is some playing around with resort availability going on to give the illusion of scarcity. I have had a trip booked for the second week in October since January. Because I was hoping for a special offer discount I have been consistently checking resort availability since about May. The resorts that were full pretty much stayed that way until last week. Now everyday availability and prices change at least once during the day. Prices, I notice are higher early in the day and drop around 4pm.

By all means though, take this all with a grain of salt. I am by no means a data analyst just an overly anxious planner with a verifiable case of FOMO.

I went in July and as I understand it there was a light years difference between crowd levels mid-late July and May. Hollywood Studios was basically worthless as a park, 1-2 hour lines for everything when I went and tons still closed.

Same! We’re going in early November, and there hasn’t been availability for weeks now. There is nothing at all for our dates. I even took out the weekend of the Wine and Dine races, and there’s still nothing.

This is usually part of the peak period for UK guests, and we're not allowed into the country. There's a lot of people who would have had bookings through to the first week in September until schools go back here that would have been there the last 5 weeks that haven't been able to go.

We went to various parks in April, and Seaworld was having its international food fest with concerts. There were food booths, live music, and an acrobat doing the chair-stacking stunts. It seemed more like Epcot than Epcot did.

So this thread made me double check my dates…I am going mid-October and there is availability showing at several resorts where a few weeks ago there was nothing at all. And at Beach Club where we are staying, the rate I have booked for standard view is the rate for garden/woods and standard shows sold out…so do I call and ask to be upgraded?

It never hurts to call and talk to a CM about your observation.

Or just book it and cancel the old one.

I'd like to think that if was a booking issue and they needed to fill resorts they'd offer a discount to do so. October demand is there, there's like zero mods or values to be found, so it's weird to take it offline. Perhaps an ongoing construction issue.

We went in April because it just felt good to get out again after our vaccines and it's the same feeling. We have no desire to go back paying full price for half the experience. We had a nice time, it was good, but we also enjoy national parks and beaches just as much for a fraction fo the cost. I hope Disney can get their act together and quit being so money grubbing. With all the up charges, I don't even know if we'd go back at this point if all entertainment was reinstated.

According to posters in the resort board...for some dates value resorts are fully booked and overbooked. Disney is upgrading value guests to free up value inventory to sell.

If there’s availability, you should be able to modify online or you can call to change your reservation.

Yep…I called yesterday with virtually no hold time! There was a slight difference in the rate from what I remembered like $10 or something but I figured the garden/woods view would be worth such a small difference plus a better chance at getting full balcony vs Juliette.
