A Rolex Vacation on a Timex Budget: Sept '11 PTR (TR is Live!)

So sorry to hear about your pain! I remember when my DH had his wisdom teeth out and the doctor/nurses were explaining the possible complications including dry socket to me, I passed out! The two of us were side by side on chairs in the recovery room.

So I can't imagine even dealing with it!

Feel better soon!!!

Thanks all! In the waiting room right now to see what they can do about the pain. Crossing fingers.....

First off, thank you all so very much for your words and wishes. Things are a lot better today, still in pain but minimal compared to what things have been.... going to be on some STRONG meds for a few days, but then things will improve. At least I don't have an infection!:cool1:

You poor thing, I am cringing in pain just thinking about the dry socket...that has to be hurting...its just such a sensitive area :sad2:

I am excited to see the vinylmation you got :thumbsup2 I was hooked after reading someones TR and I cannot wait to trade some on our next trip!

Thank you... we finally changed the meds around yesterday and they put in some paste that numbs my socket.... which has helped a great deal. Since I am working from home the next two days (no way I could be in the office on THIS much medication!) I am taking pictures of the Vinylmation figures and working on posting them today!

And I'm doing laundry... fell behind on that one these past few weeks....:rotfl2:

Good afternoon! Looks like you have been in a lot of pain but am glad you have a wonderful husband that is taking good care of you :goodvibes

I'm so lucky. He keeps on trying to find things to eat that I don't like so I am not mad at him for being able to chew. Actually, this is working out for him, as he gets to order all the stuff I can't stand and I cannot complain one bit!

Sorry to hear you are in alot of pain, but it sounds like your hubby and furbabies are taking good care of you. Just keep thinking those happy thoughts and hopefully the pain will subside soon

Ooh which Vinyl didja get?!?!? :teeth:

They are the best.... especially the furbabies. Zoe, however, feels that she needs to sleep on top of whatever is hurting, so I had to push her off my head a few times last night. She means well. That, or she's trying to knock me off so she can have my whole half of the bed!:lmao:

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear you got dry socket!  That was one of my worst fears when I got my top 2 wisdom teeth pulled, I practically didn't eat or drink for like 3 days, because I was so afraid of getting it! Hope you feel better soon! :goodvibes

I got those Mickey band aids on my trip last year, they are SO cute! And I can't wait to see your Vinylmations!

Thank you!
I did everything right....except.... I didn't stay in bed like I was supposed to. So, lesson learned, I suppose. Thankfully I don't have to test it ever again now that all the wisdom teeth are GONE!:goodvibes

HI,
sorry your in a lot of pain...I hope it passes soon....the boo boo Belle should help (love it!)
How about some nice cool ice cream shakes??? would that help maybe??
hopefully you find some relief :flower3:
Maybe you can crush the percocet in the Ice Cream! LOL

We did find out that Scotch and Ginger did wonders. I like to think it was the restorative powers of the ginger. It was more likely the numbing powers of the Scotch! (Don't care.. it worked ! )

*looks at banana* Huh. Not dancing. Great, FROZEN bananas! :cool1:

Oh, I sure hope you get some relief from your pain soon!!!

Thank you!!!!

Yeah, it was rather like the boogie monster parents use to dissuade children from doing bad things. I don't blame you for passing out... they HURT!

Was the Dr able to give you some relief from the pain?

Yes! They upped the dosage of Percocet and gave me a nerve blocker, they also packed the extraction site with this paste that numbs the area. It will dissolve in a few days, but they said I should be better healed by then!

So, as I mentioned earlier, the DH has gone mad over Vinylmation. Can't say that I haven't....:goodvibes

Here are a few pics of the Nightmare Before Christmas series figures we have so far.....

I really just cannot look at that guy and not say "Land Shark!" This may be part of the reason he is "sneaking up" on Sally! :lmao:

I love the vinylmations you guys have!! We have been random and have ones from different collections so far, I think I am going to trade one when we go this fall :cool1:

Love the Vinylmations! I love Nightmare Before Christmas, one of my favorite movies ever! :lovestruc I can't wait to start getting some Vinylmations in October!

The Fun-Fund Pig was opened, counted, and sorted today, and I have good and bad news!:cool1:

The bad news first (as it always should be.....:lmao:) he only had 44.89 cents. So apparently, he doesn't hold quite as much cash as we thought he would.....:confused3

The good news, we're not playing by Price is Right rules! :rotfl2:

So, we have a winner! With the lowest price at 75$, Kari wins! (Unless I missed one, in which case, let me know, and we'll have two winners and I can blame the meds....:wizard:)

Send me a PM and I'll get you your prize!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Jen:cutie:

I’m baaaaack!:banana::banana::banana:

Finally, I can say that my mouth is healing nicely and I’m no longer on the nasty painkillers which pretty much just kept me in a fog for days. So glad that is over.:surfweb: This means, of course, that I am long overdue for an update. Today is our 4 month mark, EXACTLY! Time is really flying by since we booked our trip in January – I’m super excited for Disney, but I’m somewhat hoping things don’t fly by too fast and I get to enjoy the summer.:hippie:

That’s just a quick little update, I think this afternoon I will begin posting our plan for the trip, I’ve been looking forward to starting that section for a while now, and 4 months seems a good time to do it!
:woohoo:

So glad to hear that you are feeling better!! Can't wait for another update!! and yay for only being 4 months away :cool1: It will go by quickly!

Glad to hear you are feeling better! Look forward to hearing about your plans. Especially since a lot of it is going to include some incredible dining choices.

Welcome back!!! :woohoo: Look forward to hearing all about your plans and wow on it being 4 months to go! September will be here before we know it! :yay:

DAY ONE: SATURDAY (Travel Day)

“How to Survive Cranky-Morning-Jen, a Field Guide for my Husband”

Step One: Make sure night before alarm is set for at least 30 minutes before actual “waking” time, to account for at least two grumble filled fumbles for the Snooze button.
Step Two: Have hot cup of coffee (cream, no sugar) available on bedside table if attempting to get Jen out of bed.
Step Three: As violence could ensue, it helps to wear protection.

And NOW, you understand why we are not flying out until almost 10am! :lmao: As excited as I will be, I’m not always easy to wake up. We figured it would be a little bit less stressful if we didn’t get up at the crack of dawn!:surfweb:

So, on the first day of our Anniversary vacation, we’ll be leaving from IAD:

And a few hours later, landing in Sunny (or at least I hope!) Orlando!

We’re giving the ME a try this time around, so we’ll be looking for our bus!

As a side note/request regarding Magical Express. There is a part of me that is getting a bit worried about this, of course I’ve gone online and read a few horror stories. ..has anyone out there had a horrible experience with them and would recommend we just get a taxi?

Assuming all goes well, and our wait isn’t too long, soon we should be arriving at our destination…….

:banana::banana::banana:THE YACHT CLUB!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

From what I am hearing, they have a super-secret way of knowing who you are, so there might be someone there who greets us by name (which will be funny, because I have not given up my maiden name… that means they will probably welcome us as Mr. and Mrs. (Maiden Name) which drives my hubby a little batty at times. One of these days I’ll change it…. I swear…:rotfl2:

Then we will be heading upstairs to check into our CLUB LEVEL room! I’m really excited about staying concierge this trip. Since we’re celebrating our Anniversary and REALLY need to get away, I think this will be just the extra bit of pixie dust we need!

Knowing us, DH will immediately want to check out the bathroom, and I will fly straight to the balcony, which should have a lovely view of Crescent Lake! If our bags have arrived, I’ll probably freshen up, grab the keys, grab the DH, and head on over to……

EPCOT!
While Cinderella’s Castle certainly is the icon for WDW, to me, I really feel I’m “there” when I stand under the Giant Golf Ball….ahem…. Spaceship Earth. Considering I was born just a few years before EPCOT was, all of my memories of Disney revolve around that globe. I also just love how you can wander from Country to Country and take in the different cultures; then walk over and learn something fun and scientific in the same park! I have to say, this is my favorite park of all. (It was my Dad’s too, that probably has a lot to do with it!)

Since we won’t have anything to eat on the plane, I made us late lunch reservations at Tokyo Dining!

Mike and I both love sushi and eat is about once a week… more often if I make it myself. I’m slightly concerned it won’t live up to what we are used to. (Our area is simply filled with really GOOD Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Korean restaurants, so we’re spoiled.) However, I’m going to hope for the best and order a lot of this:

Once we’ve had our lunch, we’re planning on strolling around the park a bit, perhaps catch a ride or two, but nothing big. It should be a relaxing afternoon, and I figure after an hour or so we’ll head back to the Yacht club, relax, check out the CL Lounge (Yay! Beer!) , and just explore the resort.

Since we have such a late lunch planned and we’re late eaters… we won’t head back to EPCOT until just before 8pm, where we will be dining at San Angel Inn.

As you all already know, this was my father’s favorite place to eat in Disney, so we will be raising a shot of tequila (or two) in his honor.:lovestruc A few tears, perhaps, but I think it’s fitting. I also plan on riding that little boat attraction, though I hear it’s been “updated” since my last visit. (BOO! – I admit it, I’m a purist and never want anything to change. I’m still reeling over the loss of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride…..*throws things*)

If we get out of dinner in time to catch Illuminations, great – but I know there will be plenty of opportunities to see them during our stay. For now, we’ll relax, sip a cup of coffee (Decaf!) and head back to the YC for a good night’s rest…. we’ll need it the next morning…..

:wizard:

I'm so glad you're feeling better! :goodvibes

Your Day 1 plans look great! I agree with you about Epcot, I have to start and end my trip there, no questions asked!

Well. Except this upcoming trip. We'll be starting at MK to do the Halloween party, but the very next morning we are heading to Epcot! :rotfl:

It's so nice checking in when your CL! You feel so special, going upstairs, when everyone else has to check in at the desk! When we were upgraded at BC, we had no idea what was going on at first, until it finally clicked!

My DH really wants to go to Tokyo Dining, I can't wait to hear how you guys liked it!

*Sigh* I never want things at Disney to change either. That's why I'm kind of weird about the whole new Fantasyland...I think it will be amazing, but...no more Toontown kind of annoys me!

So glad to hear you are feeling better!

Your Arrival Day plans sound great! (I'll be using Magical Express for my trip, too... eek, the only negative I've heard is that it can sometimes take awhile to make it to your resort (waiting for the bus to fill up, multiple stops) but I hope that's the worst that could happen!)

I love your plans for the first day!!! San Angel Inn sounds amazing -- I have never eaten there before & was considering it for this trip but didn't make an ADR. I think we'll just grab QS at the new Mexican restaurant. Whats your opinion on that? I thought I would ask since I know you love San Angel :)

About Magical Express -- I was shocked to read that you read bad reviews!!! WOW! We've used it every trip that we've stayed on property & we love it! It's so nice to arrive at MCO, head straight to ME, and then arrive at the resort a short time later (we've NEVER had a wait at the customer service desk & only had a small wait for a bus last trip but it was mid-summer). I love the luggage service too -- we usually go grab QS at our resort or just wander around or take a swim & its always there about 2 hours after we arrive. I'm sure it sometimes takes longer, but we've always had good luck & fast service with ME! The first time I suggested that my parents use it, they were very skeptical about it (mostly because they didn't completely understand it). But my dad called me from the bus & thanked me! In my opinion, I think its great to use ME -- I don't see the need to pay extra for a taxi unless you're planning to stop at a grocery store along the way (which you probably won't need since you're staying concierge!!!) :goodvibes

I love it that you're starting out the trip with Epcot! It's our favorite park & I'm actually considering the same thing! I cancelled our ADR on our arrival day, so we'll either stick around the BC/Boardwalk area or head over to Epcot & grab QS. I know a lot of people like going to MK on their first day -- but we prefer to visit Epcot first & also to go to MK on our final day! I love it that the castle can be the last memory I have of Disney!!!

I can't believe its 4 months until your trip...that means it 4 months minus 3 days until mine! WOW!!! I can't believe it approaching so quickly! I wish we would get some sunshine here so I can enjoy the summer before heading to Disney -- its been rainy here all week & most of last week too!

Can't wait to hear more about your plans!!!

Arrival Day sounds good, great choices for dining too :)

We love the ME for the ride experience, we're not so keen on the bags being delivered though. Out of our three trips to the World we used the luggage service twice and twice we were kept waiting til gone midnight for our bags. Our last trip we decided to keep our bags, as the system had changed to picking them off the carousel and placing them on another one to transport to whoever. So glad we did that, as even though it was a drag pulling them around, we were at least able to change our clothes straightaway and not have to worry about being woken up by bell services.

Love the how to survive cranky morning Jen!! It's a good job then that the flight is scheduled for 10am. We are not getting the ME but I look forward to hearing how you found it.

:woohoo: at being able to check in at Club level - you guys will have a great time!! All the reservations sound great and I am with you on liking the look of Epcot - can't wait to spend some time in that park!
