OK, I am just going to say this....

Any way we can only allow threads of dreams items to be GIFTED rather than have trade threads? Swap threads seem to be fine. It should all be about friends helping friends here on the DIS boards.

Just a simple request, but I don't want to see the greed take over regarding these Dreams items...

We do want to do this ForeverWDW started an earless/gifting thread last week and we had to temporarily stop it. Unfortunately the gift/wish threads usually get out of hand. We are trying to figure how to pull it off. We are open to suggestions if you have any ideas btw

Hmm... they usually get out of hand because all of a sudden an influx of newbies rush over to the DIS when they hear the word FREE.

I know this is going to sound harsh, but I'll say it anyways If you're not a vital and regular contributor to the DIS community/family, then sorry, trade for your ears on VMK. But I suppose that leads it to all kinds of interpretation as to what makes a "regular contributor". Post count? Join date?

I don't feel bad in the least doing it this way. I'm sure others will disagree. But this board is a community - it takes a lot of give and take here - not just the take part...

how about this?

When the space suit was originally released, we kept a running list of all those that wanted one. People would gift someone from that list - no particular order, and then the thread was constantly updated as to who was gifted and who was still waiting. That way if I had an extra pair of dreams ears, I can look at the list and pick out THE NAME *I* WANT TO GIFT TO - if it's a name I don't recognize, I would pass over it until I came to a name I'm familiar with that I would be happy to gift to. After I gift, I let the OP know that I gifted that person and the thread is updated to reflect that.

There is no guarantee whatsoever that if you post saying you want a dreams item that you will get it. That's up to the "gifters" to individually decide for themselves.... And it's not in order either, so even if you're at the bottom of the list, you have no worse of a chance than someone at the top of the list....

I like the sound of option #2 but I need input from the team before I can say yes thats great The no gift threads policy is from before my time and its my understanding it went horribly wrong.

I so totally agree! I am not going to trade any of my dream items for other stuff. It's hard not to, bc i've seen crazy offers. I refuse to sell out.

Hi Pink I am so with you on this. I just hated seeing dream ears for trade want Minnie, rare stuff. Just seems to me to rub salt into an already sad wound. I think option 2 works the best. I was just shocked to hear how many some people had. I only have a few extra. After I gift tink and my hubby who had no luck what so ever trying to get anything

I'd hate to see Dream items inflated to crazy outrageous values by greedy people. I would also love to see the peeps who got nothing get something. But what about us people in the middle? I won two Dreams - Ears and Tomorrowland Set. But I really want the Dreams Fairy and Log pins. I'm not greedy, I just want to complete my pin collection (and I think the Fairy pin is beautiful). I don't have a surplus Dream Item to swap either.

Pink, I think your heart is in the right place. However, I'd hate for Dis to disallow my Trade Request Thread (shameless plug )... I'm looking for someone to make an honest deal with. If it's a fair trade for both parties, it's not selling out. They get something they're looking for. As do I.

Perhaps, at least allow threads requesting Dream items (versus offering existing items). In other words - threads from Buyers, not Sellers. As I recall, similar rules have been placed on game items (sub parts, galleons, etc.) in the past. (Or am I misremembering?)

I'm all for some sort of gifting "event" for you very generous types to help out the less fortunate. If I had extra Dream items, I'd happily help. Alas, I wasn't that lucky. But please don't make me even less lucky by removing my ability to try and get that which I missed.
