Folks really seem to be traveling this year, and making plans earlier...be sure to book your DVC rooms as early as possible.

I have a one bedroom booked for early December...I was going to change it to a studio to bank some points for a 2 bedroom next June...no studios available at OKW for early December (5 to 14). So we wound up with two studios instead of a two bedroom for next June.

I didn't waitlist for the December studio because it doesn't make a big difference to us, and the one bedroom will be nice :) But if it really is a "make or break" type thing for you, where you need a certain size unit, be sure to book as early as possible, preferrably during your resorts priority window. I've never had a problem switching from One Bedroom to Studio at OKW before.

Where are the facts to substantiate your claims of increase booking difficulty? ;)

While I usually book early, I have changed ressies as early as 3 months out before, with little or no problem. At 5 months out, no studios at OKW seems unusual, even for early December. It is our normal travel season, though a couple days later...we usually go a little earlier in the month. But travel, according to Disney theme park attendance, is up this year by about 5% or 6%, down at Universal.

I quite sure Mr. Rinkwide was just jerking Chuck's chain a bit - based on other posts made in the "7 month" booking threads over on the Planning Forum. He does like to tease and :stir: so we regulars have learned to carefully examine his smilies when things don't seem quite right. :)

Best wishes -

I absolutely agree that he was stirring the pot while asking about the "facts" to back up the booking.

Thanks Chuck for reminding everyone to book early!!! I want to add that although I own at SSR I am spending a week in August at OKW and a week in December at BWV. I "bought" OKW points and BWV points from another member (transferred into my account) so that I could make these ressies at the 11 months window and I am renting out my SSR points to break even. Pretty smart huh??

Don't feel too bad. Rink knows what he's doing, we're just used to him. ;)

Try to do everything early, we always book 11 month first thing that morning and we always check in 8:30 am and have always been able to get a room. Lucky? maybe but it works I know everyone cant book then but sure takes the presure off. :cool1:

How True!

I know myself I booked 2 years ago without too much hassle for Christmas Time at the end of August! This year, I booked in June and had to waitlist!

Like they Say...............

The Early Bird Catches the Ressie!

I've had problems at OKW in Nov '04 and Dec '03. Couldn't get anything at all, 3 months out both of those times. Luckily in Nov '04 we at least had booked a 1 bedroom 8 months in advance, but I was trying to change that to a 2 bedroom or 2 studios. No luck and MS allowed us to have 5 in a 1 bedroom. Luckily OKW has some big 1 bedrooms so it wasn't too bad. But I was on a waitlist both those time periods at OKW and nothing ever came through. So I agree with Chuck.....especially for certain times of the year (and Oct-Dec seem to be tough), booking early is good advice.
Oh, and sorry Rink....I don't have any cold, hard facts to back up my story either. Just gonna have to trust me on it ;) :) ;)

We have ressies for early December and just this week I called to make our restaurant ressies---too late. It just never occured to me that I would have trouble this far ahead. :confused3 Honi

If ever there was a case of preaching to the choir, this one is it!! :thumbsup2

We've only planned out to the middle of 2008, so we're newbies compared to some of the planners here!! :teeth:

ACK! I haven't made any dining ressies, either. I was waiting for the Candlelight Pkg to be released, and make them all at once. *sigh* Another phone call.
