Hi guys,

I am a Rehab student at the University of Maine at Farmington. For my Senior Seminar I must make a 30 minute video highlight, something, anything to do with people with disabilities. (Some students topics include: Autism, Learning Disabilities in the Classroom, Police Education of different disabilities.) Originally my topic was "Accessibility, of UMF (My campus)".

Today I had a crazy idea, an instructional video on accessibility Walt Disney World. I will be there at the end of month so shooting will be possible then

This summer I went to Disneyland with a tour group specializing in adults with disabilities so I am SOME what familiar with Disney's procedures for accessibility

I would also plan to create a website to upload the video so to share with others....

What do you guys think?

I like the idea. Reading about accessiblity and accommodations is enough for some people to plan their trip, but actually seeing a video of real people would be encouraging for many. :goodvibes

Could you contact Disney and make arrangements to film boarding areas, accessible hotel rooms and transportation? Explaining the GAC (Guest Assistance Card) would be very helpful.

Keep us posted :listen:

I don't think Disney would be too helpful about the GAC, since they don't even talk about it on their own website. I don't think they really want that publisized.
But, I think they rest of it is a good idea.

Think about what you would be able to cover in 30 minutes and don't try to cover too much or you won't have time to really cover what you are trying to show. I'd suggest having some general categories - like general types of rides (boats, rides with moving walkways, theater shows, a ride car that is wheelchair accessible, etc).

I'm willing to help with more ideas.

I'm on board! When you say 'end of the month' - exactly what dates? I can walk short distances but use an ECV for park touring. Maybe we can try to get together? Of course, that's only if you want a fat, sometimes cranky, sometimes demanding, middle-aged woman on tape... :teeth:

We'll be ther with DS who is in a wheelchair, but can make transfers with max. assistance, but we don't get there until 9/30.
