A random very kind act.

I have been having a very stressful time lately. One thing that has been stressing me out (and has been posted to the boards) may end up costing quite a bit of money so the other day when I lost a $50 check from my bank I was pretty upset with myself.

Today I got a letter in the mail from someone I never met. It had my check and a note saying it was found on the floor restroom at a fast food restaurant I went to that day.

Its just nice to think someone took the time to pick it up and mail it back since my address was on the check.

Or as my DH put it "I hate when just when I start to think the would is a bunch of scum bags someone goes and does something like that!" (gotta love his point of view huh?)

I really agree that sometimes those random acts of kindness really change our perspective of the world. Now, all you have to do is pay it forward sometime or another in thanks!

Years ago, I was a single mom with 6 kids. One payday I had 60/80 bucks to feed us for two weeks and I was stressing out really really badly. So, I made a list and tried to get a plan with what I had in the cupboards. I got to the store with kids in tow, a very nice man came up to us as I was standing looking at some sectiion. He introduced himself and said he was with some company...Kraft or something and that my groceries up to 125.00 were on him that day. I started crying right then and there. They gave away 5 125.00 gifts that day.

I have since made sure that I always try and make up the difference when I am standing behind a customer who doesn't have enough money or with a bunch of kids. My way of paying back.

, wow, I could only imagine how much joy you had in your heart. I remember the same thing sort of happening to my Mom, God may ways for us out of no way many days:worship:. And I like the fact that you pay it forward, that does not happen so much any more:thumbsup2

Hi kamik86,
Thanks for sharing. That is a wonderful story. :goodvibes It just goes to show that there are still great people in the world that are willing to do the right thing. Glad to hear you got your check back. Thank you again for sharing such a great story. :thumbsup2

This is a very heart-warming story. I hope you write a letter to the editor of your paper to let people know there are still honest people around.

Funny you mention that. This past summer my 17 year old son was on a road trip with my parents. One of their stops was at Mt. Rushmore and my son found a wallet that was wedged in the crevice of a rock. Inside of it was $31, a kids library card, and about $70 in Best Buy gift cards. He kind of asked around if anyone lost it, and somehow ended up bringing it home because he wanted to find the owner.

When he got home he looked up the town the library was in, then did a search for the kid's last name on google in that town, and after an exhaustive search found the family by some stroke of luck. We sent the wallet back to the kid (it cost me almost $5.00 to mail it!). He also put a little note in the envelope saying where he found it with his name and address.

Would you believe he never heard anything from them?? I thought for sure they would at least thank him for going through all that trouble, especially since the money and gift cards remained intact. Oh well, he felt like he did the right thing anyway and that's what matters.

Good stories!

Here's mine. This past April we went to a Bon Jovi concert in St Pete. It was raining when we left the concert and ran about 4 blocks to the car. My husband had his iphone in the pocket of his shirt and when we got to the car, he took the shirt off because it was soaked and threw it in the back seat of the car. When we got home over an hour later, no phone. We figured it fell out of his shirt pocket in a downpour in a dirt field where we parked and was probably run over by one of the thousands of other cars there. Three days later we got a phone call from a guy who works near the concert venue, found the phone in the dirt lot on the way back from lunch and charged it so he could call the last numbers used. Didn't want any money, just postage, and mailed the phone back to us. I sent him a $50 money order and thanked him.

I love hearing things like this.. Reminds me that there are still many, many good people out there in the world..:thumbsup2

OP: Hope your other situation works out for you.. I don't think I caught what it was..

That's great! And about your DH said...that's something I would think too. ;)

OK, maybe it's my pregnancy hormones, but that story made me tear up.

I had babysat my friend's cats and was paid $200 in cash. I was running errands and had the money in an outside pocket as one of the errands was to deposit it at the bank.

I reached in and no money. I went back three stops and walked past a liquor store (It was next to the Pick n Save I went to). On a whim, I go into the liquor store just to ask. The guy asked me how it was. I said four $50 bills. He handed them back to me and said he found it in front of his store and was hoping someone would come back for it!

I was so happy and he refused money as a thank you. So, I bought a bunch of lottery tickets from him (he looked like the owner and I know they make money if the tickets wins.)

I didn't win. Wouldn't that be a great true story if I did?

That's pretty awesome!

I was recently dealing with an ebay/payal situation where they gave the wrong address to the seller. I changed my address with both sites, got confirmations of that, thought all was well. When it hadn't arrived I waited a few more days and then asked the seller how late she had seen parcel post go. In a flash of who knows what, I included the address. Whoops, she had sent it to the address ebay/paypal had sent her. But NOW all the info on her end (and my end, as it was from the beginning) showed the correct address.

Unfortunately, when hubby 1-clicked to the old address last year (what's especially embarrassing is that we met while working CS at amazon, and he's still there in a higher position, he KNOWS better LOL), the people there kept the package and refused to help. So you know I was thinking very bad thoughts.

Kept calling the apt manager, etc etc... Ebay told me to dispute it, since everything supported ME now. Except for that pesky first email the seller got, of course, the one EBAY sent her with my OLD address...I have never been stonewalled like ebay/paypal stonewalled me. I was going to just eat the cost and order more (the seller said she'd work with me, which was super-sweet, but this wasn't really either of our faults)...and then the seller emailed me. The package had been returned!!!!!

So either the tenants over there are different than the ones last year, or they've turned over a new leaf. It was lovely of them to return it, as I didn't want to have to lose $40 to order again.
