Just wanted to share that there are some awesome people among DVC DISers.

I just landed my first teaching job after graduating from college this past May (and in my 40's!) DH, DSs, and I have wanted to go on a cruise for quite some time now. Actually, we were booked for July 1998 when the ship first sailed and it was cancelled because the ship wasn't ready. Since then, we have joined DVC but put off the cruise since I was going to college and only working on the weekends.

We finally decided to celebrate and go next year, but we were 4 points short of getting an outside Cat 8 room. A fellow DVCer from this board offered us these points so we could go. DH just got off the phone with him, arranging the transfer of points at no charge.

THANK YOU!!!! Hopefully we can do this for someone someday in return.

Karen

KarenB,
Congrats, on all accounts!!!
This just proves what I have observed on the past two years-- aren't DVC'ers the highest class people on the planet!!!!
Have a great trip!

KarenB,
PS-
congrats on finishing college-even in your 40's. I left an engineering job in my 30's to go to medical school. Thank God they still make room for us "old guys" in higher learning!

Enjoy the cruise. I saw the post where our fellow DVC diser offered the points to you. What a kind offer. I love to see people help each other out on this board.:D

GREAT!!! Kind of like paying it forward. Just pass the favor on sometime in the future. I like that!

As to finishing your degree at 40...DS finally decided to go to architectural school at age 28. It seems to have helped for him to wait, because he has a 4.0 going after a year and a half!!

Hi,

Congrats!!! Enjoy your cruise!!

Hooray for you! :Pinkbounc

Pay it forward.....

Congratulations on getting your teaching degree and a brand new job! Good for you! :D

I saw your post about needing 4 more points and saw when you got the thoughtful offer from our fellow DVCer. I thought that was such a class act on that person's part. It was also good of you to publish this thread expressing your appreciation. Always great to hear positive news on the boards! :teeth:

Good luck with your new teaching position, and enjoy that cruise when the time comes!:sunny:

Congratulations to you! And how wonderful that a fellow DVC'er played fairy godmother--thanks to him, too:p I think it's wonderful that you got your teaching degree at 40, it's a thankless job that has a huge potential for impact. I am a teacher, too, and I have been going to school all my life, it never ends(at least in Michigan). As the others have mentioned, we eventually go to where our hearts really are, regardless of cost. It's so worthwhile, though, when you see those tiny faces, it's what makes you get up every morning wanting to work:) :) :) Again, congratulations on your degree;)

If I remember who it was correctly (

and I think I do!), I would say the payback of this post and the subsequent reactions are worth far more to him than the $40 ever would have been!

I agree that was a very generous offer.

Good luck with the teaching job.

That was a very nice thing to do. There are still some very nice, caring people left in this world :)

Good luck with your teaching career :)

What an incredibly generous thing to do. I must confess when I sometimes see people complaining they didn't get the 8 room requests they made, or that their vacation was "ruined" because room service showed up 5 minutes later than they say they would (I'm exaggerating, but you all get my drift) I shake my head in wonder.

It's gestures like this that restore my faith in mankind and make me sooo happy to be part of the DVC family.

Enjoy your cruise!

Hi Karen,

We were delayed on the Magic as well because of its delay in 1998. We had been scheduled for June of that year. We went the following June and loved it.

Congratulations on landing the teaching job! Enjoy the cruise :)

That really is an awesome thing to do.

I hope you enjoy your cruise IMMENSELY - and are able to help someone else the same way someday. :)

"You're welcome"............ I tried calling your husband's toll free work number today, but it must not accept calls from Ohio :( . I also tried to call your home number(from last night's call) from our caller ID, and I keep getting your fax line. Hopefully Doc will allow this post since I don't have any other way to let you know.

Just wanted to let you know the pts were transferred today(8-7) at 10:00 am. MS wanted a fax from me verifying my intent, so I faxed our intent to transfer(pts) to your account at 4:00 pm. So you can book your reservation Friday for your cruise
