Another day at the world breaks dark and overcast. By now I don't even even wince when I hear the weather report. I do though want to smack the weather man (just a little) when he smiles with those big white teeth and says how lucky they have been lately getting all this rain. "The most rain they have had for a very long time." Oh well you win some you lose some. I know though the people who live in Flordia do appreciate the rain. I'm sure they don't want a repeat of the fires they have had over the past two years.I did have my children pray though to send some of it to Colorado since they seem to so desperately need it.
I got a little frustrated trying to get the neigbors up next door. It seems like my sister did not heed my advice very well and get up early so we could be at the MK at rope drop. I had explained to her that this park is usually the most crowded and with all the rain we really wanted to get an early start. But it was to no avail because even with knocking loudly on the door they were not going to get up. So, my kids and me went to the food court and got a little breakfast. I had the french toast which had been under the warmer to long it was now as hard as a rock. My oldest DS had a Mickey waffle which he said was very good. My youngest DS just had cereal and a donut. He could have had that same breakfast in the room but it was locked up in my not to be awakened sister's room. Somethimes it is hard to travel with family.
After breakfast we moseyed on back to the room and low and behold my sister and her sleepy little group had finially emerged from their beds. She excused herself by saying she had been wearing ear plugs. I asked her what was wrong with her boy's ears? She said she was a little concerned about them not hearing the knocking because of what could have happened if there had been a fire. I agreed that there might be a problem if something like that ever happened since they were such heavy sleepers. They all ate their breakfast and were ready to go by 8:45 AM. Now that wasn't too bad so I hoped we would get to ride quite a few rides before the park got too crowded.
The bus service was really good that morning so we got to MK just a little after 9:00 AM. We rode everything we wanted in Fantasy Land without a wait. We moved on to the Haunted Mansion which was a walk on. Thunder and Splash Mountain were only 10 minute waits. By the time the rain started at around 1:00 PM, we had done almost half the park. My oldest DN (Disney Nephew) has a phobia of heights so won't ride such things as rollercoasters. He usually just waits for us to ride the rides when we are at other Amusement parks. But WDW is just not another amusement park. He was happy to find that he could almost ride every ride with us and not be worried that it was something that was really going to scare him . He even gloated a bit when he found a ride that only him and my youngest DS would ride because the rest of us were just to chicken. That ride was Allien. I just don't relish the thought of being straped in a chair while an allien threatens to eat me for dinner. They both just loved it though and called it awsome. I thought it just sounded gross. But I let them have their moment and praised them for being so brave.
For lunch we ate at Pecos Bills. One thing I found about the hamburgers at WDW is that they are all very good. Every one I had was thick and juicy with a lot of taste. Because of this the expense didn't bother me as much as it normally would. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and we decided to eat just a light dinner back at the food court that evening.
Later that afternoon we rode the Barnstormer. This is a little rollercoaster in Toon Town. This rollercoast would actually be a lot of fun if it was just longer. I would not recommend waiting for this ride any longer than 10 minutes. This is because the ride I think is shorter than 30 seconds and I'm not joking. Even the children complained.
A fun activity we did in the rain was just take the train around the whole park. It was very relaxing and gave everyone a rest. When we arrived at Liberty Square the Magic Globe parade was coming to an end. The train conductor made an announcement that everyone leaving the train could not stop and watch the parade from the platform. I couldn't believe how many people just ignored him. He had to personaly talk to several people to get them to move on down the platform.
By the end of the day we were tired and wet. All we wanted to do was to eat and take a hot shower. well the kids wanted to eat and swim. We ate at the ASMo food court like we planned. I had the garlic and broccoli pasta. It was actually pretty good. I liked it because it was fresh. Since they make their pastas right when you order. it doesn't sit under a food warmer for hours. The kids had pizza and said it was OK.
After eating we did let the kids swim for awhile, I mean it was vacation. Later that evening we packed our clothes in readiness for the next day switch to another resort. We didn't get to bed to late and were looking foreward to Typhoon lagoon and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I especially was looking foreward to losing the 5:30 AM food court truck alarm clock. Until then....
