A Rain Forest Cafe with Pirates?

I didn't know where to put this, but this forum seemed most likely.

With the limited number of sit down dining options at WDW, they should consider adding a PoC themed restaurant similar to a rainforest cafe.

My kids love T-Rex and Rainforest cafe, I think they would love a PoC restaurant with different sections of the restaurant having scenes from the ride or movies that come to life.

I think it would be awesome. They could even do a Captain Hook section to keep it not to scary for toddlers.

Thoughts?

The idea intrigues me, but where would they put it?

That would be the issue. I would be fine with replacing Tiki Room and shrinking the size of Pecos Bill but that would not fly with most Disney enthusiasts.

Maybe it could work at downtown disney.

How about a rainforest cafe with ninjas and hobbits training giant squid to fight whales? I'd go to that.

I'm not sure there is one near Orlando, but there are some pirate "dinner show" style restaraunts around. Like Midevel Times.

It wouldn't be hard to fit a pirate or Blue Bayou in MK if TDO wanted to.

could demolish tortuga tavern and use that/surrounding area for resturant

I think it's a great idea, however dont they all ready have two rain forest cafes in Disney world. If not two I know they have one in animal kingdom.

Yes they have two, one at AK and one at DTD, plus T-Rex at DTD.

I like the idea, but don't think it should be at DTD. Maybe DHS? I know they sort of lack in the restaurant department.

DHS has lots of TS restaurants. AK and MK are short in that department, although MK is building a new one right now.

I've got a better idea -- an undersea zombie restaurant in the river right outside Haunted Mansion.

There is a Pirate's Dinner Adventure show just South of Universal. I haven't been there, so no idea what it's like.

You would think that they'd have jumped all over a Pirate themed restaurant by now, but location is certainly the issue. There isn't really any spot in Adventureland for it, and that's the most logical spot. Putting one in Downtown Disney means it would compete with T-Rex and Rainforest and that wouldn't go over well at a time that restaurants there are coming and going almost as quickly as rumours over Pleasure Island (though and entirely Pirate themed Pleasure Island would be lots of fun!)

The issues with an undersea zombie restaurant are two fold:
1 - waiters losing body parts in the soup
2 - when sitting, customers' brains would be perfectly situated for the staff to munch on resulting in a lack of repeat customers (though a larger pool of staff)

:rotfl2: But I'm keeping a shotgun under the table. just in case.

A quick, possibly not accurate count of table service locations within the park:

MK: 5, soon to be 6 (at least for dinner - it's still going to be convertible, right?)
Epcot: 14
DHS: 5
AK: 3

So, DHS currently has the same as MK. However, DHS is much smaller, so it would seem to have plenty for the crowds it supports. I think that's why people think MK doesn't have much TS. And one of those it CRT...

If only there were some sort of unused Verandah in Adventureland where a restaurant used to be located - maybe call it the Adventureland Verandah or something - where a new dining facility (Pirates or otherwise) could be located. Oh wait...

That said, if such an idea were to be pursued it should be done by Disney itself and not a third-party operator such as Rainforest Cafe - especially within the theme parks, but ideally within Downtown Disney as well.

I agree with it not being a third party, however I don't know if Disney would do a good job theming it, it could end up looking like the tortooga place they have now with a POTC title.

Yes, I should have been more specific -- I meant lots of TS at DHS for the people who are there. I think the park has a little over half the attendance of MK... give or take.

Since many -- right or wrong -- consider it half-day park, that also decreases demand for the TS. So I'd still stand by my point -- if any park needs a TS, it would be either AK or MK... but since MK is getting one, that leaves AK.

So -- here's my new idea: A restaurant where you kill and eat your own endangered wildlife.

I really like the idea of a pirates themed restaurant! I, though, would prefer a splash mountain/ songs of the south restaurant! That is personally my favorite ride in MK and would help bring some life into frontierland! As far as a location I would replace either Pecos Bill or Golden Oak and put it in there or replace them both with one large restaurant!
