A Quiet Drink?

Ok, completely hypothetical question... Say 'my friend' :rolleyes1 is going to be visiting Disney after a long absence and that 'my friend' will be wanting to have a quiet drink with a gentleman 'she' used to associate with in a strictly friendly manner but with whom 'she' suspected there may have been some romantical undertones. Where would 'my friend' be able to find a place without a lot of noisy stuff going on but with some fun adult beverage options and enough atmosphere to not feel awkward if there are in fact no romantical undertones and/or 'she' loses her nerve to inquire about them. :upsidedow Is that even possible for 'my friend'?

P.S. Brenda, I'm looking at you. I know you've got the low-down on this sort of thing. :)

At this point just looking for options either way. Not sure if there will be park tickets/castmembery things or not. I should have included that originally, sorry. :hippie:

big river brewery would be good. sit outside overlooking the boardwalk then you, i mean your "friend" can make their move.

The Mizner's Lounge @ the Grand Floridian is usually very quiet (if you smoke I think it is still the only bar in Disney you can still smoke in). If that does not work you can start there and always take the monorail to the Contempary Lounge or the Polynesian Lounge (great drinks). Epcot bars and Pleasure Island bars/clubs are usually pretty loud ( especially if I am there with friends). Hope this helps.

AKL has a quiet little lounge that overlooks Boma. They serve drinks, and a few snack items.

I second Mizner's lounge. As someone who may or may not (I'll never tell!) have tried *ahem* beverages all over "the world", I do believe that Mizner's in GF is classy, yet down-to-earth, and cozy. There is nothing about it that is "suggestive" to any romance, BUT, if the mood were to strike, it can be very nice when live music is playing in the background (from the balcony). Best of luck to "your friend".

csr has an outside bar around the lake and they have tables that are almost like couches to sit and have your drink at

How about the Belle Vue Room at Boardwalk? Its only open at night (5:00 pm I believe), but should be a nice quiet place where you can chat.

Oh, all good suggestions so far.

I'd have to agree with Victoria Falls at AKL. For me, AKL is so exotic, with low lighting, and the luscious spice smells. The bar does overlook Boma, which would be good because you can hear other folks, but not so loud that you can't talk. You could also take a stroll out to see the animals in the Disney-manufactured moonlight. A first kiss with a giraffe watching you? That's something you'll always remember!

Good luck!

A third vote :thumbsup2 In the evening it's veeery dark and cozy in there too :rolleyes1 ;)

I'm afraid I don't have a suggestion but just wanted to say that I hope your friend has a nice time and that she finds "romantical undertones" if she wants them!:goodvibes

during the warner months, i would pick big river (boardwalk). they can sit, chat, & people watch, then watch the top portion of illuminations.

during the colder months, victoria falls (AKL) would be my top pick.

if they are "just friends" right now, i would stick with somewhere (like the two mentioned) that have something to do/see in case of any lapses in conversation :rolleyes1 .

You guys are all so great. :goodvibes Thanks for all the suggestions! 'My friend' really appreciates your help. You're just the bestest. :worship:

So far the AKL is the frontrunner. I remember seeing it on past trips and 'my friend's' never been there before, so that might be cool. Is the Belle Vue at Boardwalk where they have those yummy looking Skyy Berry Martinis? (If romantical undertones don't work out there should at least be girly drinks. ;) )

AMEN! If you're at AKL in the evening there is also the spot to watch the animals through night vision goggles. In case conversation fails and your friend is looking for a distracting activity:rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm getting one hell of a reputation around here. :lmao:

Martha's Vinyard (Yacht Club - very casual)
Mizner's Lounge (Grand Floridian - a little more formal because of the location but still very relaxed)
Victoria Falls (Animal Kingdom Lodge - although it can get nosiy in here because of the crowds at Boma)
The Outer Rim (Contemporary - I think that's still open)
Big River Grill (The Boardwalk - order a beer flight and ask for an outside table)
Raglan Road (ask for a table on the patio - there's usually no wait)

That's all I can think of right now ... :goodvibes

See! I knew you could do it! :rotfl: I never thought about Raglan Road. Bring a little of my adopted home (well, that celtic vibe anyway) back to my old home. I like it. Er... I mean, 'my friend.' :flower3:

And 2xcited2sleep: I never knew there was a nightvision feature! How cool!

Hmm... Interesting... Is "she" hoping for some romantical adventures ?? Is "she" going with a significant other or anything like that ?? If so, hopefully she will be careful.

Oh, if I see "her", "she" will know it is me if I say "Rrrrrr, you looking for someone, poppet ??" :lmao:

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Good luck to "her" !!

Bellevue Room at the Boardwalk...I think it would be a perfect setting for "your friend".

The absolute best little tucked away, quiet, lovely place is the bar area at Jiko... plus it is the only place to get an AMAZING little drink called the Chocolate Covered Cherry. They also have a huge number of African wines.
