Hey guys, whenever I pick up my Pod, I often check underneath the earphone covers to see if I put the right one in the right ear.

My question is, would it actually matter if I put the other one in the other ear? I know this sounds simple, but there must be a reason why they put "L" and "R" on these things right? :confused3

Do you really intend going to University? :lmao:

We listen in stereo and triangulate to judge where a sound is coming from. L is for Left channel and R is for Right channel. Therefore putting the headphones on correctly will mean you listen to the music the way it was recorded. If your were to swap them around a person for example, going out of a left door would sound as if they were going out of the right door. Also, if you were listening to an orchestra, all the violins would be on the right instead of the left and the cellos would be on the left instead of the right.

A simple Yes would of done it Richard... And for the record, you never learn if you don't ask! :teeth:

For the record, what exactly would you have learnt if Richard had simply said yes? And while we're on the subject of learning, it's 'would have', not 'would of'! Why does basic English seem to elude those who claim it as their mother tongue? :confused3

That seems a little harsh.....

Woah, Sorry. Didn't mean to be rude. :(

I guess that's Aspieness talking again huh?

Well I've learnt something as well. :thumbsup2 Thanks Richard.

For the record, I thought they just put L and R on them to perplex people like you and me, PM! :teeth:

Sara. :)

Zoinks! My reply to PM was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Mind you, I have to agree with Night-Train; the "would of", "should of", "could of"'s always wind me up.

Annoying it may be but I don't think its nice for people to have their grammar corrected on here!! :confused3
