Hi fellow Canucks! DD and I are just back from a week in the Disney area (Dec 2 - 9) and I want to share just a bit about our experience. We don’t stay on Disney property but at Windsor Hills, so we are close to “the back entrance” to WDW, through Sherbeth Rd. This simplifies our navigation, because we just follow the excellent signage to AK of the AK Resort in order to find our way back to our resort from any point in WDW. Our plan was simple, relax, soak in the Christmas atmosphere, do a single park day in Epcot to enjoy the Festival of the Holidays, and treat ourselves to some nice meals.
Travelling down from NS, we went through US Customs in Ottawa. It was quick and easy, and the same on our return. We found service folk and cashiers, both inside and outside of WDW, to be routinely wonderful. Only one stood out by virtue of just being pretty average. We encountered a lot of courtesy from other guests as well, and people seemed more mellow in general. While certain hours were busier, crowds were low and even traffic was far less insane than usual. A great week to visit, for sure! We really appreciated those friendly smiles everywhere and all the folks who held doors and offered other forms of assistance as DD gamely pushed my over-sized wheelchair around.
The only fly in the ointment was the awful exchange rate, but even that was well worth it for the time we get to spend together in our favourite place. Merry Christmas to all and may your holiday season be full of your own kind of magic!
