A Question for Train Fanatics

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find a working model of the Eurostar engine and a few cars in the USA? Also, if you know whether the engine is run on batteries or is it a plug in set? My DS6 would like one but I am concerned that the UK models will not work with the electricity in the USA but if they work on batteries I will be fine.

Any information is appreciated! Thanks in advance

The British model train company Hornby has made a model of the exact train you're looking for -- look here

I have used Hornby model locomotives on North American powered layouts without any power problems -- however, one needs to know that the British build trains to OO scale while North Americans prefer HO scale. OO is 1:72 -- HO is 1:87. That said -- a OO train will run on HO track, however I found the flanges on the OO locomotive wheels were much deeper than those on HO locomotives and the locomotive repeatedely derailed while crossing turnouts.

KATO USA makes a version of this train in N Scale. Walter's has it on their website for $230, but it is back-ordered without any indication of shipment dates.
