I just bought an MP3 player yesterday, it holds 4 hours worth of music and then you can buy chips (or whatever they're called) to hold more. I'm planning to just record off some songs from my own CD's at first, but I'm wondering where you can get MP3's from the computer. Can you recommend any good web sites? How much do they cost? Do you pay per song, or for a month of "service" or how does that work?

I know NOTHING so any info you can give me will help!

Thanks!!

You have to be careful with the Peer 2 Peer thing now days because of all the "SpyWare" - not to mention them Pirates of the Caribean! But I've found BearShare works good for the occasional song I get an itch for and it has the least SpyWare.

If you want to be on the up and up though you may want to check out:

Apple Music

$0.99/song is a little pricey IMHO!

ahhhh, this one's a hot topic over on the debate board. Itunes.com I hear is one of the best paid programs.... but I get mine for free. Can't tell ya where here in the CB as it'll spur a hot topic again:teeth:

*EDIT*

Alright I'll post my favorite free one here. www.edonkey.com

Kirk: Um, OK as I said I really know NOTHING about all this, what is spyware? *hates asking dumb questions, but knows she won't learn if she don't ask :) *

Yes, 99 cents per song is a bit much

JoNo: I will check out edonkey, and Itunes too - thanks! :)

WalMart.com is getting into the downloadable songs now, too... theirs will be 88-cents each.

You might also look around mp3.com (launching a new site soon), emusic.com, musicmatch.com, real.com...

Most of the pay sites (which are the only legal ones...) cost around 79 to 99 cents per song.

If you have the software to rip your own MP3s... you can also often borrow CDs from the library, and get quite a collection that way. :)

I have been playing with iTunes and I like it.
Files are .acc so you need a player that playes them like an iPod.
Nice thing about the songs is they are clean, quality recordind not the so so stuff that is often on the peer to peer sites.
It is also legit.
