I posted something today that accidentally offended people because I didn't really clarify enough.

Turns out as well as offending people today, a lot of people aren't so keen on me anyway (although I've never once said a bad word to anyone here). It seems people think I lie, look for attention, exaggerate in my posts. None are true, I just have an 'eventful' life, if you can even call it that.

So I'm wondering, as I've made so many enemies here, would I be best off to cut my losses and not post anymore? or to 'carry on regardless'.?

I'm genuinely not asking this to look for sympathy or attention, I just wondered what general protocol is here. I like the disboards, I'm a student so I spend a lot of time in front of my computer, it's my bit of fun between boring essays. But who wants to be where they're not wanted right?

I think on your thread about your school paper, you needed to explain yourself in the begining. I saw that your green light was on every time I looked so why didn't you expalin yourself in the begining? If you did I don't think wouldn't have gotten out of hand as it did.

I don't know you so I guess I can give you an outside comment...I don't know what you did or said so I may be wrong:

Why do you care...if you are just putting stuff out to vent...people who don't know you shouldn't matter.
If you live and "eventful" life and people doubt you...why does it bug you if you know it is true?
Better yet, why do you feel the need to put your life out for other people to judge if you don't want to be judged harshly..

Yet Another Grand Exit

lol, no i'm not going anywhere just yet. I don't really want to, hence this post, to check I shouldn't just be taking the hint and never returning

I don't know what you did/said/typed/responded to

but this is supposed to be fun, IMO (not that you have to listen) 1) is either continue to post, and have fun--not to worry about what others think-- 2) stop posting and loose the WD Fix we all NEED--- or 3) start a new screen name and be more selective of what you say and who you say it too....

just my thoughts.

I never really thought of it as 'putting my life out there'. I started lurking on here as a guest years ago when I was first planning a trip to WDW, stumbled across the CB and saw that people sometimes post their dilemmas, thoughts, vents here. So when I did start to post I found it quite a cool thing to be able to do. I didn't really realise it would all get so heavy! :confused3

I accidentally made people think I'm an anti-semetic Jew! I'm not! My fault for not explaining properly. But some people got VERY VERY angry.

given that you tell us about every third day
"I'm Not a Drama Queen, really I'm not" the reaction to that post couldn't have been a huge shock.

It seems people think I lie, look for attention, exaggerate in my posts. None are true, I just have an 'eventful' life, if you can even call it that.

no, eventful isn't really what I'd call it.

I totally missed your thread-some people are so diligent about reading every thread and making a reply. I just happen to see your post and that you are from the UK and you bring a smile to my face, because I know a lot of my dd's friends are from the UK that she worked with at a summer camp.

I have made a lot of threads, that I wish I never did. I have made a thread about something that was so important to me and have not even gotten a reply. I can make a thread about something I may not even care about and it will take off like a rocket.

So everyday, the DIS boards can be different. The DIS boards is suppose to be a community that loves Disney. Yes there is a community board-be we are all suppose to remember the "Spirit of Walt Disney".

i must admit, your name doesn't sound familiar to me, so i really have no opinion on the subject, but let me give you my $.02:

everyone needs to learn and accept that in life you are going to encounter people who don't like you for whatever reason. that's just life. if you can figure out why people have a negative reaction to you, then you make the choice to try to fix what bothers other people or to stand your ground. there are definitely things in my life that bother others that i have tried to improve. on the other hand, there are lots of things that i have chosen not to "fix" because they are things that make me me and things i believe in very strongly.

don't know if this makes sense.

Since you asked.

Lie ----> don't know
attention -----> definitely
exaggerate -----> definitely

My belief is accidents happen. For some people it is easier to communicate more clearly orally than in writing and the other way around. I say try to clearly describe what you really meant to say and leave it as that. If people keep on flaming you and not realize that mistakes happen then ask to have that thread closed.

I also think a lot of it has to do with the sheer volume of all manner of life crises you seem to have had since you started posting in earnest. It gets a bit hard to believe sometimes. And then when you post something that you HAD TO KNOW would generate lots of reaction, and then type "*whoops* I just posted quickly, I wasn't thinking..." I'm not quite sure what you expected.

Again, that's just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.
