DH's birthay is the end of next month and The Lion King will be at the Boston Opera House during that time. A little while ago this a.m. I went on line to find the tickets ranged from $285 to $210. (gulp!). I then decided to take a look at ticketmaster and discovered Orchestra seats for $65 and Dress Circle for $85. Should I believe these prices? How can they sell then so much cheaper? I certainly can afford $85 for Dress Circle. The whole thing just sounds too good to be true.

I have boughten tons of tickets from ticketmaster. :p I would trust them.

Those seats go for about $100 on Broadway, so I'd "guess" that your $85 quote is about right for Boston.

I'd say the $200+ price quotes you've gotten were from ticket brokers (a/k/a, legal scalpers).

You can always call the box office to verify what the actual seat prices are.

I've never had any problems ordering from Ticketmaster. I don't know why those other tix are so much more expensive. What source were those prices from? Ticketmaster is probably the official outlet for tix for that show. The other one is probably a source that bought the best tix and will sell them once Ticketmaster is sold out.

Any other opinions?

Ive used Ticketmaster for years for sports tickets. They are usually the "Official" ticket seller that sells tickets for face value and I've never had a problem with them.

A broker sells tickets for season ticket/box holders at a price the owner wants to get for them or at what they figure they can gauge you for if they themselves are the owners.A lot of broker companies buy season/box seats so they can resell them at a huge profit.

Stick with Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster has the "real" prices for the shows. The same as you would pay walking right up to the venue and buying the tickets (they do add a service charge). I buy from Ticketmaster as they seem to be the official representative for most shows.

Yeah ticketmaster is legit..in fact, many shows only sell through ticketmaster..those huge $200+ prices were probably brokers. I hate brokers..they ruin shows and sporting events.

Use ticketmaster...

Might I ask where you got the $200+ quotes from?

I always use TicketMaster (Though I resent their handling fees...) because they are the official ticket people, and are always legit. Either that or the box office are the only places I will buy from.

Many years ago, i ushered a hall in Dallas, and we had numerous issues with tickets and they always came from unofficial sources (brokers, scalpers) Lots of people showed up and had no seats... so sad.

My original inquiry was just to type Lion King in to the address secton and do a search. It came up with a list od cities where THK will be playing over the next 2 months and when I pulled up Boston, those huge ticket prices showed up. What's your opinion? Should I grab these asap? They recommed confirmation via e-mail. Is this like the ticketless airlines. Show your e mail at the box office and get your seat assignment?

Should I grab these asap?

If you are talking about the $200 tickets, my opinion would be no. If it's the Ticketmaster tickets, I'd say yes. You just never know what you're getting (or NOT getting) with an on-line ticket broker that I would never recommend it.

Kathy,

We ordered Disney On Ice through Ticketmaster last spring.

You submit your order on-line, with your credit card. Can't remember if they take PayPal as well.

We received our paper tickets in the mail in about 5 days.

ENJOY!!! Wish I could come with you!!!!
