Since it will be releasing this time next week, JohnTBap PM'd me(thanks for that BTW) and we were discussing the midnight release of the new book...

So the question is....

1)What goes on there?
2)Who is going?

I am going to be in Ohio on vaca....revved up as it will be my first day...So my DH and I plan to go...so who else is going?

Also I am staying in Blue Ash Ohio....does anyone know of the closest Barnes and Nobles?

I'm considering taking my 11yo DD. She'd love to be one of the first to have the book in hand :)

I haven't seen anything advertised yet, maybe in this week's paper? I hoping it will be selling then at a reasonable price, I rather buy it at Sam's but dont' mind paying a little extra for my DD to have a special night.

I'm going to the midnight party with my friend and possibly my husband.

Our B&N is having games and prizes. We're going simply because we had a blast chatting with people and loved the decadence of enjoying reading books while we waited long after the store closed for the regular folk :)

I called a few weeks ago to order a 4th book on preorder. They told me that they stopped pre-order on the 1st of June and can't guarantee anyone that shows up at the midnight party or on the 21st without a preorder before that date (6/1) will be able to get a book. It might take a week or 2 for them to get more books in to meet the demand

I have preordered mine. Never thought about going and buying it in person. However, it sounds like FUN if I had someone to go do that with.

I hope you all have a great time :) Be safe

I didn't preorder, I do hope we are able to find it that day. My DD will be pretty upset if we don't :(

The Barnes and Nobles here are still taking pre-orders. And if you do that you get 40% off. Tim will be out of town next week so I won't be doing the midnight thing. I know I would be up all night reading the book.

We have no B&N. :( Mom preordered it for me, but won't go at midnight to pick it up. She mumbled something about the post office not being open then anyway.
My sister is going to hers with a friend -- kids will dress up, there will be games and such, then at midnight, there will be a mad rush, and some kid will flip open the book and announce the ending. :p

I will be at camp, I preordered it on Barnesandnoble.com last night, and it is going to be delivered to camp.

I pre-ordered it months ago from Amazon, I got an email a month or so ago that said that they were giving free saturday delivery!

I went last night and pre-ordered DD's at Borders, where they will have a midnight event that she and a friend are going to. It just really PAINS me to pay full retail for a book.:(

I preordered at Borders, who are having a midnight event, it's also 40% off there. The guy told me the last time (I assume he meant Goblet of Fire) it was totally nuts and the line was out the door! At Borders, when you preorder, they just hold it for you, you don't actually pay for it until you pick it up. Anyway, a friend called Borders and was told that the overbooked the preorders!! (The funny thing is, they still have the preorder signs up.)

So, thanks to someone on the DIS (sorry, I can't remember who), I found out about Amazon's delivery on that day, so I did that as a backup in case it is too nuts at Borders, or if they run out, etc.

<font color=navy>I'll be getting mine at Sams Club whenever they start selling it. :)

Have fun at the midnight parties.

I went to the midnight party for the last book. It was so much fun. Lots of people dressed up as the characters. They had trivia contests and gave out prizes. They gave out tickets and then called each group by color of their ticket to receive the book. They also offered a discount, don't remember how much.

Our Borders is having both a midnight party, and a party the next day. Both of my boys want to go to either -- I'm just thinking the crowds will be huge.

We pre-ordered our book on amazon.com
