A question about Microsoft updates

Does anyone know if I HAVE to install this update?

Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Office XP. SP3 contains significant security enhancements, as well as stability and performance improvements. This service pack applies to any level of Office XP. It contains all updates included in SP1 and SP2, in addition to updates released after SP2. SP3 applies to the following Office XP products: Word 2002, Excel 2002, Outlook 2002, PowerPoint 2002, Access 2002, FrontPage 2002, Publisher 2002, and Office XP Web Components.

I only use Word 2002 and very rarely at that. I don't really want to download this "fix" because it's a 10 HOUR download. Can't fathom for the life of me why any download would be that long.........but it is.
Any clues why this one is so "necessary", according to microsoft that is. LOL

Unless you're downloading over dial-up, it shouldn't be anywhere near that long of a download.

You might just go to the MS site to see if there is just an update for Word 2002 if that's all you use.

I won't install the updates for MS Office or Outlook Express as I don't use them. I did find a single update for Word Viewer.

Haven't downloaded I.E. 7 either. My computer still works fine & I'm still able to download any other updates for I.E. 6.

Oh cool yeah, I'll try that and see if I can whittle down and ONLY get what I want.

Pitifully Jestocost, I am still on dialup and don't forsee that changing anytime soon. LOL
