A question about BB guns.

Here is one thing I've never gotten. I had a friend that had a BB gun. I wanted one, but my mom wouldn't let me have one. But here is the question. Why is it that whenever someone gets shot with a BB gun, they have to get rushed off to the ER, but if you hit like, a bird or something, they like, don't budge? I had a friend, got shot in the arm with one of those, and was in the hospital for I believe 3 days. I went hunting once with a friend, we hit a squirrel in the head, the thing just sort of looked at us and ran away. We hit a bird in the head. The thing just dropped out of the tree, stumbled around a little bit, and got up in a different tree? Do animals have some sort of super power that makes them invunerable to BBs?

i have no clue. i thought BB guns were like pellet guns. like they hurt, but weren't harmful. but then again, i'm not that bright. i remember watching A Christmas Story (it's hard to miss, TBS plays it for like two days straight at x-mas) and everytime i hear BB gun:
'you'll shoot your eye out kid.'

I don't know much about BB guns. But, my dad told me that when he was younger he and the neighborhood kids would go into the woods at night and play hide and seek with their BB guns. When the seeker found you, he got to shoot at you with it. Supposedly they had a rule that you only click it twice (that way it wouldn't hurt that bad), but one time when my dad was found the kid clicked it way too many times and my dad didn't know it. So when my dad got shot with it....he said he almost killed the kid..

Just a little story I learned about BB guns. But to answer your question, I guess it depends on how many times you click it.. (I don't know if "click" is the right term, but you know what I mean right?)

yeah and theres this weirdo kid who lives by me who always runs around my block with his bb gun trying to shoot us and cars and stuff =\ i know people who went to Ju-V for that kinda stuff

Are you sure it wasn't just a pellet gun. Something that shoots pellets would probably bounce off of a squirrell. But a bb gun could do serious damage.

It was a red rider BB gun.

My whole family hunts except my mom.I had a red rider and know i'm at a 12 gauge.It will probly just stun the bird.start of with that if you can and just work your way up.

a pellet gun is a steep higher than a bb gun.a bb gun can't do barly any damage.i swear,,,,,,

I have a powerline 880 and that will do some damage, but my friend has a red rider and it doesn't do that much to anything.

A BB can do a lot of damage to an animal, if you get a direct, clean hit. Most of the time, there is enough tissue on a human to get a clean, direct, decise (sp) hit in most places. Animals aren't built like that, though. While you maybe hitting the bird, you may not be getting a clean, clear shot. This would cause you to just stun the animal.

I'm not against them totally. I do think it should be tougher to buy one though.

I also hate the NRA. A bunch of morons they are.
