~ A PTR for a CAMPING Trip That Might Never Be ~ *TR Started (link inside)*

Oh, I love your driving post. I usually end up driving if we are in my truck. I can't read while in the car, so all I can do is sleep when not driving.

Aren't those portable DVD's wonderful? We bought ours...wow, it's been 7 years ago. The handheld games are great also. We have started carrying those into the parks. That way when the line is really long the kiddo can be entertained without driving me crazy! Of course, I determine if a line is long enough. He would play the thing and let me steer him through the crowds if I let him.

I don't think I ever asked, have you been to Dutch Wonderland in Lancater, PA? I miss that little park, we use to have so much fun going there. Of course, that is before I discovered WDW!

I think I`m all caught up Carissa!

We would never even think about driving to WDW! Steve has no patience. we would make it 30 minutes! :lmao:

Still waiting on who your new traveler is...popcorn::

Ok, how did he make it to 21 without a license? What rock was he hiding under?:rotfl2:

I don't mind long drives as long as I have music that I can sing along to....it keeps me awake and I can embarass my kids by doing a little seat boogie-ing along the way.
I have quite an ecclectic mix of stuff to listen too Def Leppard, Phantom of the Opera, ABBA,Big & Rich, The Beatles, Maroon 5.........my husband always makes fun of me because he said he never knows what's going to be playing next.
D.Jay used to do all the driving, he could stay awake for ever. I loved it...now he drives for 30 minutes and is too tired. So, I've had to learn to enjoy driving through big cities, which used to scare the crap out of me.

You and I are a lot alike in our driving needs!!! :lmao:

I have a hard time relinquishing control over to Charles because he drives really fast and it always makes me nervous.

It is sooooo hard for me to keep my mouth shut sometimes when he's driving. :rolleyes1 I get nervous when he travels too closely to the car in front of us. :sad2:

I love the driving post! My husband has a real aversion to driving long distances. About 7 hours is all he can take! Any further than that and we will be flying!

Great lesson to learn...Husbands need that sense that they are the provider! I've been married almost 17 years and still learning it....for those of us with control issues (and you know who you are! :rotfl: ) it's a tough one to put into practice!

Thanks Missy :goodvibes And yes it is a tough one to put into practice. But, I think the payoff is good. It lessens my load by giving him things to take care of (for example getting my van in the shop when it needs a repair) and it makes him feel manly. :thumbsup2

No we haven't. We've never been to Hershey Park either! If we end up staying in the area maybe we'll venture to those places since I don't think we'll be returning to WDW for a few years.

I'm sure you've seen him before. ;)

From your lips to our budgets ears..... :confused3

Wouldn't it be cool if I could hand deliver the visitor to you in June???

:rotfl: Well, I think the reason he didn't get it as a teenager was because he didn't want to spend the money on a car? :confused3 I can't remember. I'll have to ask him. But, he joined the Navy when he was 19 and lived in Japan for two years so he didn't bother doing it there.

I love singing in the car (heck - I love singing any ol' time!), but the DVD player plays through the stereo so I can only listen to my iPod while the boys are watching movies. I *could* sing along to my iPod, but I think I'd get yelled at.

Cherie, pretty soon Evan can take over the driving for you! :rotfl:

Very true!

Carrie - your signature made me laugh! Steal away, although I would have been happy to officially send him to you. ;)

:beach:

Just so you don't think I forgot your report

:confused3 Why would I think that?? You just posted a few minutes ago! :rotfl: To which I replied and I don't think you saw. Perhaps you thought you were posting on someone else's report??? I know - when you get older the memory doesn't work so well.

:confused3 still lost...
Nevermind!!! I know who the traveler is!!! :woohoo: Drew?

Oh Yeah, I did, I get nervous, I've heard rumors about you and readers that are slackers....:scared1:

Men need to feel like they're providing for and taking of their families. :rolleyes1

And the real kicker??

I actually LIKE being taken care of by my husband. princess:

So, along with my new discoveries and theories, I have tried letting go and allow Chuck to do more of the driving - especially on long trips. I've figured out if I put my nose into a book and listen to my music, I can ignore most of the driving issues that I use to complain about. And the time passes quickly. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I came to this realization February 2008 on our trip when I was sick. It's not so bad to let go sometimes and it is nice to feel taken care of rather than the one who is always giving care. It was nice for him too. He liked taking care of me and I could see it in his eyes. Feb. 2008 was a great trip for us. :thumbsup2

It felt great when I told Chuck he needed to schedule an appointment for my van and take it in to get fixed. I'm so use to trying to handle everything on my own and I just get overwhelmed. It was like a lightbulb moment when I realized it was okay to ask for help. That I don't have to prove anything.

Carissa - I love the post about driving!! My DH always does the driving - and it drives me crazy!! I'm sure I'd do some of the driving if we drove all the way to Orlando, but that's not happening any time soon.

I'm such a backseat drive I probably should be doing the driving & I often threaten to... :rolleyes1 He just drives too fast - I suppose I should be burying my nose in a book so I won't notice. ;)

I think I'd be a contender in the smallest bladder contest. Even when the boys were potty training we stopped more frequently for my pee breaks than theirs.

We carry a "pee can" in our car for the boys. :thumbsup2 It's a plastic Bisquick instant pancake mix bottle. Best thing we ever put in the trunk of our car! ::yes::

I'm hearing about all these fantastic husbands. We missed the rodeo one time because I got tired of the DH saying "When are you going to buy tickets?" I never heard, "Will you?" So I refused to spend my lunch hour doing it and we missed the rodeo. Oh, this reminds me, I need to set up the appointment for our fridge to get fixed.
