~ A PTR for a CAMPING Trip That Might Never Be ~ *TR Started (link inside)*

Yay for the dining plan!! :woohoo: We're doing it and I think it will save us some money and allow us to eat more TS meals. We are doing about half character, half not.

Yay for the dining plan, you will love not worrying about how much each meal will cost! Happy planning!:goodvibes

:woohoo:
We're doing the Dining Plan on our trip too. I think with kids it's a good deal because the cost of one day is about the same as one character meal. So it's almost like you get the snack and counter service for free. That's my story and I'm sticking to it:rotfl:

Anyway, this gives you a chance to plan even more fun meals. I'll be interested to hear your reports because we still haven't decided where we want to go.

I'm going to try and work on it tonight to see where we're going to go. I'd like to try new places. I definitely think it's worth it. I figure we can use some of the snack credits for breakfast stuff too.

Are most of the character meals just one credit?

I'm going to have check out your list of ADRs to see if I get any good ideas of where I want to eat. :goodvibes

Does anyone know where I can get good info on the dining plan - such as which places use 2 credits, etc.?

Go to allears.net and click on dining! We always use snack credits for breakfast, you can get bagels or yogurt parfaits and such too!:thumbsup2

Thanks. :thumbsup2 I'm still having a hard time finding which ones take 2 credits. I'm assuming it's mainly things like Hoop Dee Doo and Spirit of Aloha?

Yeay for adding the dining plan! It really is such a money saver and convenience in my opinion!!!

I'm very excited about it - I can't believe we HAVE to have dessert with both lunch and dinner. :rolleyes1

I just found the thread here on the Dis under the Disney Restaurants - and Disney Dining Plan. There's a thread for everything you need to know and it lists which restaurants use 2 credits per person.

I've finally made my way over! I'll be backtracking after dinner to catch up on your plans. So glad you guys are getting to make the trip! :)

Phew - I'm pooped people! :scared:

I've been working hard today to come up with a plan. This is what I have so far - it includes which parks when and meals. Please let me know what you think.

Saturday - arrive at POR (probably not until mid afternoon so we won't end up using our CS credits on this day) - dinner at Raglan Road (just found out RR has been added to the dining plan this year! :cool1: ) - we decided to skip T-Rex Cafe since it's not at the Dinging Plan at this time - no park

Sunday - Disney Hollywood Studios
B - snack credits either at food court or at DHS
L - Sci Fi (Sully gets his Sci Fi Diane! :thumbsup2 )
D - CS either at DHS or at food court at POR (which CS is your favorite at DHS? we've only eaten at Pizza Planet)

Try for Fantasmic (we've never seen).

Monday - (my birthday :goodvibes ) Magic Kingdom
B - same as previous day
L - Casey's or Noodle Station if open
D - Kona (I'm really excited about this after looking at the menu. There's a reason I switched from 'Ohana.)

Go back for Wishes.

Tuesday - No park day - Hang out at the Resort - rent pontoon
B - same
L - not sure - we'd like to eat a CS somewhere to get our money's worth - any ideas? (can't be in a park obviously)
D - Whispering Canyon Cafe

Wednesday - Epcot
B - same
L - Sommerfest
D - Le Cellier (going to try - otherwise Coral Reef - we've never eaten here)

Try for Illuminations.

Thursday - Animal Kingdom
B - same
L - Tusker House for Donald's Safari character breakfast (it's actually at 10:20, but it will be our lunch)
D - Yak and Yeti Counter Service

Friday - Sea World
B - same
L - at Sea World
D - either CS at food court at POR or maybe Earl of Sandwich in DTD if we're not too tired

Saturday - check out - Magic Kingdom
B - 'Ohana (this is why I changed from dinner at 'Ohana)
L - CS at MK

Up Next - Got 'Em!

Looks good! We loved our meals at Sci-Fi, Kona, 'Ohana's, and Tusker House. Have never eated at Raglan Road, but we want to do someday, so I am looking forward to your review of that!

Sci Fi will be a repeat for us and we have eaten at 'Ohana and Tusker House, but not for breakfast. I'm very excited about Kona! :)

Chuck and I ate at Raglan Road on our last trip. Here's a link to that installment:

Hi Carissa, :wave2:

I think adding the dining plan was a great choice!! For us, the simple convenience of not having to worry about what food costs each day is awesome! And..the kids can basically order anything they want! And those snacks.....mmmmmm!!

I think your choices are great! :goodvibes I can't wait to hear what you think of Raglan Road....it's a place we would like to try as well....maybe not this trip, but someday. As far as CS places in DS...we only ate at the comissary and it was NOT good! :sad2: For your CS on your non-park day, maybe the Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD? We loved the TS there, maybe the CS is just as good! Or Pepper Market at CSR...heard good things about that one, but haven't tried it myself.

Do whatever you can to see Fantasmic.....it was our favorite night show!

Happy Planning! Until next time! :woohoo:

Morning Missy! :goodvibes

Not sure if you saw it or not, but in the post right before yours I posted a link to my review of Raglan Road from our last trip/TR. We loved it! Our favorite meal of the entire trip - hands down. :thumbsup2

Wolfgang Puck Express is one place that I've wanted to try since we made our first trip to Disney. I think on our last trip it was closed for renovations? I'll definitely think about that one.

I just received an invoice from Disney and it's saying that my balance is due by February 11th!! :confused3

When I originally booked our room, the CM told me the balance wasn't due until we checked in. When I called yesterday to add the DP, the CM had to cancel our original booking and redo it to add the DP. So, now I'm confused. Do you think it's a mistake? Should I call back?

By adding the dining plan you made it a package. Packages are due in full 45 days before the trip. Just a little quirk so Disney gets hold of your money sooner.:confused3

I'm pretty sure if you cancel after that you lose the $200 deposit, but they will refund the rest. Definitely something to consider.

The CM I got on this last phone call wasn't great. And he never told me any of this! It doesn't really matter I guess. Do you know if you can change the dates of the trip without penalty? Like if we're close to the time we're suppose to go, but something comes up and we can't make it - can we just push the trip back?

Thanks for all of your help Jenny. :goodvibes

I actually just went and read the docs WDW sent me for our upcoming trip. For cancellation made 44 to 6 days prior to arrival there is a $100 fee. For cancellation 5 days or less is a $200 fee. For changes made 44 days or less there is a change fee of $50 and changes that affect first night's accommodation must be made at least 6 business days prior to arrival.
This is all on the back of the invoice they sent me. You'll probably be getting one in the mail soon. Hope that helps.
