Hi I just read a thread about HHI that discussed a "private affair"
We have reservations for the first week in June and it will be our first trip. DW and Two kids 5 and 4, what is the private affair and would any recommend it . How do you do it? Should I preregister any events like priority seating at WDW? Any help is appreciated
Todd

We did the "Private Affair" 2 years ago and enjoyed it very much. We dinned in the Grand Villa. There were 4 adults and the kids ate pizza and watched a video while we enjoyed our dinner. I would have prefered the kids to be otherwise occupied but it worked out fine.
The meal was crab cakes, filet mignon, and cherries jubilee (if memory serves me correctly)
We brought along a favorite CD and small CD player (the GV may have one, can't remember)
Chef Gordon was wonderful! We enjoyed his company. He even provided us with the recipies of the dishes he prepared for us.

I would recommend reserving this in advance. You will be provided a list of options, but you are not limited to these. Very nice wine is included in the price of the meal ($60 per person I think?)
I have heard the dinner has been moved to the Beach House, but I am not sure if that was just because the GV was rented or if this was a permanent move.
I hope this helps:wave2:

It is at the beach house, they moved it there in early 2002. I believe the price is $50 a person, with a minimum of charge of 3 people. Last year it was just my husband and I eating, and it was still well worth the $150. You can contact Chef Gordon through the front desk, they will put you through to his voice mail. We are making the crabcakes tomorrow!

RellingTwin is correct, A Private Affair is now held at the Beach House. If you enjoy great food definitely give this a try. Chef Gordon is teriffic and I highly reccomend any of the activities he hosts. If you're going to book PA, I would reserve at least two months out. If you can get a babysitter for the night, you will have a very romantic dinner. HTH:)

We did the Private Affair in August. It was fabulous. We had it at the beach house. You can wander around watch and talk with Chef Gordon. You can cozy up to the watch dusk roll in to the sounds from the beach. Then just sit and enjoy the next course.

The food selection and wine compliments were great. I too recommend doing it without kids. We left our three at the resort. Our oldest is just getting at the age to watch the other two. If not I would recommend a babysitter. Treat yourself.
