Day 2 - November 7th
Please bear with me...this is the first trip report Ive ever written and it might tend to get long. I hope I dont bore you all too much. We had been planning this trip for almost a year. If anyone read my pre-trip report, you will know that so many things had changed. All was not going well in the trip-planning stage. DH and I kept hoping that our luck would change and we would end up having a great trip. Well, Id say our luck changed 2 days before our trip...definitely for the better. Of course the trip was for the whole family, but the most anticipation was for our DD5. Shes at that age where she LOVES all the characters, shes over her fear of them, and she is a big-time princess fan (especially Cinderella). Anyway, I had tried time and time again to get PS for CRT to no avail. Well, 2 days before our trip...thanks to the DIS and Alena...I got a cancellation and scheduled PS for CRT for the exact day that we planned on going to MK...coincidence or magic?? Things were starting to look up. We had all decided not to tell DD5. We knew this would be the best way to start off her Disney experience and would remain the highlight of her trip.
We awoke at 5:30 a.m. Our PS were for 8:10 a.m. and we knew getting 2 teenagers ready who love to sleep was not going to be an easy task. Can you believe they were in Disney...their first day and they did NOT want to get up? DDF asked why we had to get up early...were on vacation. Because were in Disney!!!! DSis took care of that. She took them by the legs and pulled them out of bed! They woke up real fast...grumpy, but fast. Delswife, I think Commando Nikki and I would get along really well on vacation together. I would have loved to have had her whistle! Anyway, we finally get up and get ready and head to MK. We got there before the park was scheduled to open for EE. I told the CM at the entrance that we had PS. She told me the only way we could get in was to show her my reservation ticket. What ticket? I told her I made the PS over the phone & only had a confirmation #. She insisted I needed the reservation ticket. Then she told me to just wait b/c the park would be opening in 5 minutes. I didnt have 5 minutes!! They told me to be there for my PS 15 minutes early. I was in a panic. The park opened & we headed straight for the castle without giving the kids a chance to stop to see anything else. On the way there I asked DH if we should tell DD5 what the surprise was. He said no, but she chimed in Is it breakfast with Cinderella just as we hit the steps for the castle. Needless to say, she was thrilled. This was the most amazing thing I couldve asked for her to experience. Although she almost missed Cinderella. After everyone was seated, she informs me that she has to go to the bathroom. We try to rush and as luck would have it, when we came out of the bathroom the princesses are already making their way around the room and Cinderella had already passed our table. DD5s a very energetic child, but she sat there with her legs crossed and her hands on her lap the whole entire time waiting for Cinderella to make her way back over. She sat there like a princess. We saw Cinderella leave the room and our waiter must have seen the look on DD5s face b/c he asked if she hadnt met Cinderella. When we told him she missed her he went back & got Cinderella to come back out. She immediately came over to our table and DD5 was in awe! It didnt matter that she didnt eat her breakfast or that we didnt care for the food. It didnt matter how expensive it was. Just watching her expressions was enough for me. It was all worth it! Somehow we knew all that bad luck we had planning the trip was gone and it was going to be a magical trip.
After breakfast we went on a few rides and watched the Country Bear Jamboree. We went on Thunder Mtn. Railroad. We were almost at the front of the line when DD5 informed me she had to go to the bathroom. She loved the ride despite the fact that she desperately had to go to the bathroom. We even got DH on it and he liked it. We decided to take a break and head back to the room for awhile so the kids could swim. On our way out DDF and I both got birthday pins since we were celebrating our birthdays during our trip. When we got back to POR, we ate lunch at the Food Court. While I was standing in line waiting to pay for my food, the CM asked me to give her a minute. She picked up the phone, dialed & handed it to me. I was really confused, but I took the phone & heard Goofy singing Happy Birthday to me! We headed back to the park later that evening, walked around awhile & watched Wishes. If that doesnt put you in the Disney spirit, then I dont know what will.
