A Post Open-Heart Surgery/Anniversary Trip Report!!! Updated 5/30 PTR started!!

Hahaha I love Figment! How could you not? "A dream can be a dream come true, with just that spark, in me and you!" :thumbsup2

Yay Epcot!!!! Nifty Epcot fact: I was reading that the two sides of Future World were designed like the two sides of the brain, the right side has more curves in its pathways, and the left side is more linear with straight lines. Cool, right? :teacher:

Congratulations on your new place! :goodvibes

Figment's little song is very catchy. Brooklynn is a Figment fan, minus the stinky skunk section. ;)

Very interesting Future World fact. We (Disney geeks) do love our behind-the-scenes Disney trivia, don't we? ::yes::

Didn't there used to be more to the Imagination Pavillion too? I distinctly remember walking through some sort of psychedelic tunnel.:confused3 I feel like there was more interaction before.

Ok, that is a VERY nifty Epcot fact! Where did you find it, was it the Imagineer Field Guide?? Sara, I think you should either write an Epcot trivia book or become some sort of trivia CM at the park, spouting off random cool facts!:thumbsup2 Then you could be in your happy place everyday and enlighten those ignorant Epcot guests.

Hahaha I start holding my nose when the ride approaches the Smell Lab section. You can smell it in there pretty much constantly...yuck! Why couldn't they spray some lemon or something. Seems that Figment and Stitch are in cahoots with the scent thing...

Oh how I love random Disney trivia! It keeps the Disney happy magic going while away from Lake Buena Vista! :wizard:

You are correct, there was more to it! But I actually don't remember the previous version (it changed to the most current version in approximately 2000, I believe), but I will definitely take your word on the psychedelic tunnel!

I found that one (along with most of my nifty Disney facts) in The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World, which I had actually bought for my dad, but picked up one day and was hooked! I definitely recommend it, there were a ton of little tips and backstories I hadn't known about.

I would LOVE to be a random roving trivia CM! How much fun would that be??? I envision this role involving stickers in some way...:scratchin

Cool! I actually have that book, The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World! Obviously I haven't read it yet.

Look what I found! The old psychedelic tunnel which apparently was called Rainbow Corridor. I knew I wasn't crazy!

You SO should, it's wonderful for the Disney-obsessed!!!

Hahaha I believed you!!! The electronic coloring books looks awesome! Actually, it reminds me of this toy my friend had when we were like 8, it had a like drawing tablet you plugged into the TV, and your little drawings would show up there.

Hey, that was pretty technologically impressive for a couple of elementary-school kids in 1993.

Okay, back to business.

Well, first off, Happy Mothers' Day!!!

When we last left off, Wingnut and I were in the bus stop area of AK. We briefly considered the Yacht Club bus, but it was still fairly early in the day, so we figured we would swing by Ol' Faithful - Epcot.

Yeah, who didn't see that one coming?

Honestly, I'm not sure why we always jumped to go all the way through Epcot on our way back to the room. Especially since Wingnut was starting to feel a teensy bit under the weather.

As you may recall, when this TR began, the weather was cold. Cold cold cold. Cold to the point that the plants and flowers and other various shrubbery were all covered up and tucked in under blankets. But now it was starting to warm up, and they were all uncovered and replanted in that 3am Disney way, and Wingnut's allergies went haywire.

And of course, I hadn't packed any antihistamines. 'Cause, really, who plans on pollen in December?

Not this girl, that's who. :confused3

But, Wingnut continued to soldier on, and we were back to Epcot!

Ahhhhhhhhhh we missed you.

I promise we'll never stray to AK again, Spaceship Earth.

Wingnut, still rebelling against the constant photos.

I could have sworn there was supposed to be a hidden Mickey in this. Is there one?

Hmm. I have no idea what that is. A lobster playing the keytar?

Oooh, 80's-tastic! I think I'll head to Captain EO after this!

Stringbean and Wingnut, transplanted into the Pacific Ocean.

After Spaceship Earth, I was starting to get a bit hungry, but Wingnut was not. I decided to try the new Cantina de San Angel for a quick lunch.

(Sorry, this post covers quite a bit of story I already covered, and then I had beef tacos.)

After I had my tacos, Wingnut was starting to look less and less well. I decided we should pretty much head straight back to the Yacht Club at this point, not pass Go, and let him lie down for a bit.

Also, this is a good time to also add that Wingnut had been coping with Morton's Neuroma in his foot throughout the trip, which caused him to be in quite a bit of pain walking around. Hence me feeling especially awful having had him pushing me around.

He's exceptionally good to me, I know.

To make a long couple of hours brief, Wingnut was definitely not feeling well when we did get back to the room, but a few hours laying down helped tremendously. Not as much as some antibiotics would when he got home, but enough that he was absolutely determined to go to Kouzzina that night (even though I told him he could rest and we could get room service several times).

(Oh, and we were positive that it was his allergies causing his malaise, not something that would affect anyone else's health - don't worry!)

While he was laying down, I sat on our little balcony, read for a bit, and generally just soaked in the atmosphere of the Epcot resort area. Oh and checked on the poor beleagured Wingnut quite a few times.

My view:

Coming up next: Our last evening in Disney for this trip!

That Wingnut...he's pretty good to you, I hope you realize!

(I know you do. ;) )

You could get room service several times? You must have been hungry! ;)

Hi, there....just subbing. Then, going back to read the whole report.

It is one of my dreams to stay at the YC-it looks like you had an amazing visit. I'm so glad you were able to have such a great trip after the stress of your surgery.

I can't wait to go do some reading and catch up!

Hahaha don't worry, I definitely do! (I showed Wingnut your post, and he vehemently agrees with you )

Actually, we probably could of. We turned out to not be that excellent at utilizing the dining plan, and ended up with 5 extra TS credits! :sad2:

Thank you!!! We loved the YC, it's a wonderful resort!! I hope you are able to stay there on a future trip! :)

Another real-life update, but I just wanted share...

I went to the cardiologist today: everything looks good, and I don't have to schedule another appointment for a year! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Wingnut bought me this as a little surprise after the happy news:

Thank you for sending along encouraging and kind words over the past few months. Every one of them is SO appreciated :grouphug:

I know I have gotten behind, but boo to Wingnut's allergies acting up. Glad he was feeling well enough to go to dinner.

And I am so happy your cardiologist appointment went well and the surgery was a huge success. Enjoy not having to worry about anything!

Well, first things first Sara...:woohoo:Awesome cardiac news!! That's fabulous, you and Wingnut must be so happy. You should celebrate by booking a trip to Disney!!:thumbsup2 Perfect excuse, totally.:goodvibes

How are you feeling? I hope your energy has continued to pick up.:goodvibes

Phineas and Ferb Mac & Cheese?!?! Oh man, my girls are going to beg for that everytime they see it in the store now.

And somehow I missed your Epcot update too.:headache: Frankly I'm shocked that you miraculously ended up back in Epcot. Weird.;)

Wingnut is such a trooper!:thumbsup2 Foot problems and allergies? Boy he took one for the team didn't he? He must love you very much.

I hope your last dinner went well!!:goodvibes

And what a sweet little gift. :thumbsup2

I'll have to get the girls some of that. Bella won't know so much about it, but Brooklynn sure will. She'll think it's neat.

Hi there, I just joined in the fun of your trip reports a few days ago and am all caught up. First off, congratulations on the news from your doctor, you must have been so happy...and then to come home and find P&F mac and cheese (I am a big fan of the Toy Story Easy Mac personally) :rotfl:

I was in Orlando at the same time for business (accompanied by my mom) and I could not believe how cold it was! When the car pulled up to take us to the airport, I was so excited to go, I forgot my coat!! Originally, since we were staying at the Gaylord Palms, we were excited to go to their Ice and Snow events, but it was WAYY to cold for that  Unfortunately, that first day it got warmer, we had to go home :confused3

P.S. I think you have to give AK a second chance when you are back to yourself, it's such an amazing park!

He's a bit pollen-sensitive, and the 9 billion flowers that Disney puts out, while quite lovely to look at, wreaked a bit of havoc on his sinuses.

Thank you!!! Well, there has been a potential trip possibly bantered about for a bit now, but it's still in the "we're going to go back to Disney" stages lol. I've been improving, slowly but surely has been the mantra of this recovery...it's been going very well, but slow. Still not back to myself 100%, but I feel myself getting closer and closer every day! :goodvibes

I had NO idea they made Phineas and Ferb mac and cheese! Wingnut knows me all too well... (and yes, he is definitely a trooper!)

That's great news!

BTW I Love Mac and Cheese too :)

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

I especially love the mac and cheese in fun shapes!

Great news!

And what a sweet little gift. :thumbsup2

Wingnut found it at Target, but I'm sure that it's available other places too! :thumbsup2

I'm so glad you had a good medical report!

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

You went back to Epcot?! I'm shocked! :faint:

I hope Wingnut started feeling better soon!

WOOHOO :woohoo: for the great heart news!!

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

Hahahahaha I know, I know...we just hadn't been there enough during the trip! ;)

I so thought of you when he brought that home!!! You definitely need to try it! He picked it up in Target.

I had NO idea they made so many Disney-themed starches!! Mealtime has never been this amusing. I must go find this Toy Story Easy Mac!

OMG you poor thing!!! I cannot imagine being in that weather with no coat!! I'd so be shelling out the $800 for a Mickey parka or whatever I could get my hands on! It was so ridiculously freezing!

Woo hoo :yay:! So glad to hear the good report from the doctor.

He's very good to me, that Wingnut! I am very excited to cook up some Phineas and Ferb pasta!!
