When I started WISH last month, one of the things that I told you was that I was tired of living my life from the sidelines. I have been overweight for a very long time, and it has kept me from doing things that I really want to do because I am afraid of how I will look doing them. So, I made this long list of life experiences that I want to have and, one by one, I have decided to tackle them. Now a few I will not be able to do (for example, no one ever asked me to the prom in high school, so there is not much I can do about that one since I am now...well, I'm 40!), but for the most part I want to do what is on my list.

I am starting to do some of the things on my list and yesterday I made reservations to go to a dude ranch in Wyoming with my family in July! I am so excited I could spit (hey...that sounds like a very cowboy thing to do, don't you think?!) I have always wanted to do this, but I have always thought that I would kill the poor horse they assigned me because of my weight. Well, I realized that that is just plain silly. I have lost 13 lbs since I started WISHing last month, and now weigh 187 (there, I said it). A lot of men weigh that and they don't go around killing horses when they ride them. I do aspire to weigh less by the time we leave for our trip, but if for some reason I don't, I have decided it really doesn't matter. I need to start living my life fully, whether I weigh 187 or 120!!

Wow! Great incentive for healthy living. I can't wait to hear about your trip to a dude ranche. I always thought it would be a fun trip if I could peel myself away from my Disney obsession.

Keep posting & congratulations on your 13lb weight loss!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!

What a GREAT post!!!! That's the spirit!!!!! I love your idea of making this list - and the fact that you ALREADY MADE RESERVATIONS to DO something on your list is awesome!!!!! I can not wait for your trip! I hope you are planning to take lots of pictures and lots of notes so you can share this adventure with us!

You are absolutely right that there are lots of men who weigh 187 or more and they don't go around killing the horses. Horses are alot stronger than we think! You will have the BEST time!!!! that just sounds like the neatest thing to do. I imagine that Wyoming is really beautiful.

Not only are you going to do something you have never done before (which is GREAT for your self-esteem) but you will also be in a place that will put you in touch with nature. I see many awe inspiring moments happening for you on this trip!

What a really cool idea! I can't wait for JULY now!!!!! :)

Linda, that is awesome!! I never thought about making a list like that, maybe it is time that I did. I am so proud of you that you are taking control and working towards obtaining your hearts desire.

And from where I am sitting, 187 isn't bad, because I am 186, having lost 33 pounds and I feel good, so I am sure you are too. Yay for you!

Congratulations. Go and have a great time!

And I know how hard it is to write 186 or 212 or 168 or 141 or whatever...no matter what our weight is, it's not easy to "admit" it. Life is more important than that "evil" number. It's about being healthy and feeling good about yourself.

Obviously you have reached that goal!

That is wonderful, Linda! I am proud of you for doing the things you want to!! What a wonderful attitude you have!

When I was in High School I used to ride horses all the time with a friend and it was so much fun!! I really liked it, well except for the one time I was on a very tempermental horse and it bucked me off!! but this horse was a pain in the butt and I never rode her again! LOL

Have a wonderful time at the ranch! :)

You have such a wonderful attitude...you should print this post out and keep it somewhere...in case you have a bad PMS day!!!

And don't worry about PROM....it is way over rated...you didn't miss anything. Let go of the teenager inside of yourself and embrace yourself as an adult. (easy for me to say...I married my prom date....lol)..

Linda-

Don't cross going to the Prom off your list just yet!

We have a local radio station that hosts a Second Chance Prom every spring. This seems to be happening around the country. Ours is at a fancy hotel, with decorations, entertainment, formals and tuxes, corsages- the whole prom experience! This one was two weeks ago, and MC Hammer was the entertainment. Tickets sold for $50 each, and it sounds like everyone had a great time.

Go to Google and type in Second Chance Prom- you'll find lots of folks doing this!

:teeth:

Good for you! And you know the more active you become the more calories you'll burn, and the slimmer and healthier you'll be!

Oh, and I didn't go to the prom either! I plan on enjoying prom time vicariously through my kids in another year or so!

I am so happy for your change in attitude and for going for something that you want!

Don't worry about the Prom - I didn't go to my own but to a friends whose was the same night as mine. It was horrible - glad I missed my own (and glad no one else I knew saw me in that heinous dress ;)

(FYI - for anyone else out there who may have horse riding fantasies - most weight requirements are that you weigh less than 225)
