Ok - I'm all caught up now. Sounds like an amazing trip - and bless you for being the kind of person you are to do the job that you do. I've known people thru the years who have worked with the disabled andI do not have that in me. I did work for a crazy person for several years
but she wasn't disabled - only evil - and thank heavens I am no longer there! I am sure the guys and gals you have with you will have the times of their lives! I hope all the wrinkles the TA is putting in your path get figured out.
I know you said you cant post pictures of your travel-mates due to HIPPA....can they give you permission, or do they not have the ability to waive that?
These boards are such a hoot - I no longer can see an Aisan - or a sugary marshmellowy treat - without thinking of Jordan; wooden spoons make me think of Marv; Pampered Chef came up on a bus trip I was on and I immediately thought of Glenn......and on and on.......everyone here has wormed their way into my subconcious!![]()
OH Rosie, that photo of POP........
I WANT TO GO BAAACK!!!!!!!!! I'm so "homesick"
Good idea to buy breakfast and eat in the room instead of the foodcourt. It's pure MADNESS in there in the morning!!! Good thing Andrew and I only stopped for drinks.
I know this was a month ago - but I'm still catching up. How scary is that! Years and years ago my oldest was out riding his bike in town, met a car so he pulled over to the edge of the street. There was loose pebble gravel there and he lost his balance and fell, landing with the end of the handle bar in his stomach. I was in town taking the youngest to a birthday party. Fortunately we had cell phones - Sean didn't but he was only about 8 at the time....the poor kid walked his bike home, crying the whole way - a few blocks (we live in a very small town - population 300). Hubby ran him to town to the ER, got ahold of me, I met him there. Fortunately for Sean he just bruised himself badly. They ran a catscan on him to make sure he didn't injure anything on the inside - that's when they discovered that he has polycystic kidneys too. (Me, my brother, & my mother already been diagnosed with them).
That day was also when we "traumatized" Mark. I took him to the party at a pizza place - he ran in to see his friends, so I left. Apparently he didn't realize I wasn't staying and for several years afterwards he was afraid we would go off and leave him somewhere. He used to stand by the stage and cry after the Spring or Christmas school concerts because he couldn't see us in that sea of people in the gym and he would think we'd left him.![]()
Now at 21 Sean still has - not really a scar - but kind of a slight indention in his belly where he hit the handlebar. Nothing noticable, but since we knew where it was we can pick it out.
