A points dilemma

We have 5 nights reserved at Beach Club for late February, Sun-Thurs. I need to add that Saturday in. My dilemma is should I use my points or pay cash? Cash was pretty steep. It would use 75 points which means I would have to borrow 65 from the following year. I already have to borrow about 60 points for an April trip. That won't leave me much for all of 2007 unless I get into a continued borrowing situation.
I could save 11 points if I booked 2 studios the night before at BC or I could save 21 points if I grabbed up 2 studios at OKW and then moved the next day.

Of course this is all dependent on availability. I'm over thinking this, aren't I?

I don't worry too much about borrowing, personally. Even though we only have 180 points and have never been in a huge borrowing situation (only have 3 points left for 07 already) my theory is that I always have 180 points available to borrow from the next year and the only time I'll really care is in my 49th year of ownership.. and by that time I'll be too old to care. ;)

I agree with MikeyNS, borrow what you need for your trip. You never know what will happen in the future and there will probably be a year when something unexpected happens and you can't use your points at all. That will be the year you catch-up.

OK, I bit the bullet and called MS to add that Saturday night. They had it available! Is that usual? I always thought it was hard to book BC. Am i just lucky based on villa size, timeframe and one night being a weekend?

Sun thru Thurs and now Sat. No Friday? Is that intentional?

We will arrive on Saturday and check out on Friday. Maybe stay somewhere cheaper Friday night or drive home more leisurely. We plan to do the dining plan and our first meal is Sunday at 8:25am so if we stay anywhere but a DVC property it puts us in a Sunday bind to get our dining credits.
Friday night doesn't matter as much.

that's the problem with owning DVC. It forces you to overthink 24-7 !! :lmao:

Ooops. I need to start thinking in both directions I guess!

If it were me, I'd stay somewhere off site on Saturday. I'd get up early on Sunday and check into the BCV. I know you can check in as early as 7 am (maybe earlier). Even though your room won't be ready, you can still get your room keys & dining plan credits (and park tickets if you don't already have them). You can use the credits right away. You can leave your luggage in the car or with Bell Serrvices and worry about moving into the room later. IMHO, you'd have more than eough time to make an 8:25 am breakfast ADR if you were at the BCV check in desk by 7.

I think 75 points is a lot if you are going to arrive fairly late in the day or evening on Saturday.

Best wishes -
