A Planning Guide to Goofy's Great Birthday Bash!

Thanks so much for the tips on how to surprise DS4 in the mountains. I am TOTALLY going to do that! You're awesome. Really great ideas. :thumbsup2

I've been thinking about staying at the WL in a junior suite/deluxe room and I came across your WL thread. I'm excited to see a PLANNING thread - yeah!!! My second favorite thing - planning a WDW trip (first is - of course - going to WDW)! Thanks for all the great information, pictures, and descriptions. Your family is just lovely and you are a really great person and Mom. You have inspired me to venture out of the parks and resorts and I am definitely going to book a boat trip as a suprise. Thanks for your inspiration!

Another island I also enjoyed was Tortola. It has huge boulders in the water and caves to explore. Totally wonderful. When we were there they didn't have any resorts but I believe they do now so I would like to check into that again. I'm working on a cruise for Don to Alaska next summer. We decided to retire Dec 2011 so we need to get some vacays in before.
Oh Tortola sounds beautiful. I have never been there. I would love to visit one day. I want to do an Alaskan cruise one day also. :thumbsup2 What fun traveling is!

Your welcome. I hope he really enjoys it! :)

Planning is so much fun. It's way more a hobby than a chore for me. My dh just doesn't understand the fun it can be. HA HA HA. Thus, I write pre trip reports instead of trying to talk to him over and over again about stuff he really is NOT interested in. ;) He just likes to show up and have the fun.

I am so happy you found an idea you could use. Disney has SO much to offer. I love digging up new things to try out each time. And of course, we love to revisit old favorites too! :)

And thank you. :flower3:

It is getting so close for your trip. How exciting.

Don and I plan to retire Dec/2011. I told him that was fine but I need at least one good vacay a year and a couple of small ones in between. We do love to travel (even together). I'm hoping the girls will find time for just them and me to do some stuff together. As long as the pension holds out I'm good to go. I hope I can still say that in 2 years.

One Final Morning at the BWI

I am sure we will have a lot of packing to do and without dh to share the packing duties I plan on setting aside a bit of extra time to get it done myself.

I plan on sleeping in and then ordering room service for breakfast. A totally decadent way to spend our final morning! I know Goofy will love it, he is a big fan of breakfast in bed. :thumbsup2 As we wait for breakfast to arrive I can finish up the packing while Goofy gets to watch cartoons and stay cuddled up in bed. :) To me, this will be the perfect way to start what will hopefully be a super special great day!

Sadly, we will then have to check out before starting the rest of our adventures. It's always sad to see that final charges envelope appear on your last morning. At least this time it will be bitter sweet. I know that both Goofy and I will be happy to reunite with the guys we left back home.

After check out we will head to Downtown Disney. Goofy and I will have a bit of last minute shopping to do, I am sure. Along with shopping until we drop (or at least until we have filled our bags up) I have a small surprise scheduled for him. We are going to be having lunch at T-Rex. I think he will really like eating there. It looks like a great place to have a fun meal. I am excited more for the dinosaur themed shopping after our meal than the meal itself. My little Buzz is a huge dinosaur fan. We went to a children's museum earlier this summer and he fell in love with all things dinosaur. I am going to seize the chance to do a bit of early Christmas shopping for him and I cannot wait to hand him his very own "build your own" dinosaur that Goofy and I will create for him. I really wish I could share a meal at T-Rex with my little Buzz. I know he would really love it!

Once we complete our dino-meal we will finish up our shopping and then will come a bit bigger surprise...

What? What? What?

That sounds great for Goofy. Breakfast in bed, watching cartoons. Every little boys dream come true for sure. I would do breakfast in bed with all the grandsons when they were little. It was such a fun thing to do. Just chill and watch a favorite cartoon. He is so going to love this day.

Yes, bittersweet but fun just the same. And then better yet you will be reuinted with the rest of the gang. That would be a fun surprise. Check out, do whatever then have DH and the boys join you for another week together. Would that be totally awesome. Then you could all come home together. They could just be there at the TRex waiting for you. You have taught me to be very sneaky.

The Bit Bigger Surprise...

When we leave DTD we will hop on a bus (or take a cab if the bus stop seems crowded) and stop by the Polynesian to 'take a monorail ride'. Upon arrival, I will head to bell services while I make sure that my Goof is just out of ear shot. In case anyone is still as unsuspecting as I am hoping my little Goofster will be, we aren't actually at the Polynesian to ride the monorail (although we will be riding it, I am sure;) ).

Instead of hopping directly on the monorail, we will hop on a golf cart instead. I am going to tell him that we are taking a tour of the resort. Not very exciting in and of itself, I will give you that. But the place it is taking us will be exciting. We are going to arrive at Hawaii building and head to the club desk and there he will finally be surprised!

We are going to CHECK IN!! Upon our arrival they will hand him a birthday themed personalized Mickey ears (that I have had them use my credit card to pre-purchase)and welcome him to the Polynesian for one last night of birthday fun at MNSSHP! :woohoo:

I am hoping this blows my little Goof out of the water! :wizard:

To be continued :)

Ha ha ha, that would have been very fun! A family meal at T-Rex would have been a HUGE surprise. We both would have flipped over that one! :rotfl2:

And you are so sneaky minded. I like it...I really like it! :thumbsup2

OMG! I love it!!! I was surprised myself!!! I'm sure your son will be thrilled!!!!!

This is so totally awesome. This will so completely blow him away. Excellent last surprise. You are the Mom for sure. :worship:

What follows is Goofy's BWI photo scavanger hunt:

This scavenger hunt has been created just for you by a special Disney friend!
Be sure to follow the directions and most importantly, be sure to have fun!

•First find the biggest mouth around! One so wide you could slide right down. Now, open your mouth as big as you can and have someone take a picture of your very large grin with the even bigger one in the background.

• Find an elephant who likes to give showers. Be sure he doesn’t get you wet with his trunk! Have someone snap a picture of you giving him a hug.

•Find an iron hand which is always lifting. Have someone take a picture of you pretending to do the same thing. Make sure you look like you are trying hard!

•Back inside you will find a bunch of movies that are sure to please. For only a penny who wouldn’t want to watch them! Have someone snap your picture while you are watching a penny movie.

•Next up, look up and look down. Find an elephant that is also a house. What you need to complete this task is a picture of you pointing to the elephant!

•Dundy's Sundries is a good place to pick up anything you forgot. To pass this task have someone take a picture of you buying something there.

•Find a hidden Mickey on a carousel horse in the main lobby. Have someone take a picture of you pointing to it.

•Head up to the club level lounge and find a cast member to share a smile with. Make that you get a picture with them! Once the picture is snapped the cast member will hand you one final clue!

The final clue will instruct Goofy to head back to our room (where as previously posted) the carousel birthdaycake will be waiting for him. :)

Sorry for posting this out of order, but I didn't have it completed when I first posted about it. :)

THANK YOU AGAIN MRS.SPRATT! Your idea about the pictures totally rocked! I am going to snap one of him (as the instructions direct) and also let him snap pictures of each place so that I get to see the BWI through his eyes as well. :3dglasses

AND THANK YOU SFBANK (from the BWI info thread) who gave me a lot of ideas and so patiently answered my many questions. :)

Wow! This will make an exciting hunt! I am wondering where the iron hand is? Also the elephant that is a house... inside, maybe? Does he have to have a CM or another guest take the picture or do you? This will be just wonderful, I know he will love it!! Good job!!

That is an awesome surprise! I can't wait to hear the trip report. Also, love the scavenger hunt! You always go out for your guys!

Jay every time I think that you could not possibly do anything to top your last trip, you do. Everything is just wonderful. Goofy is going to love it all. I think it is great to finish up with T-Rex and MNSSHP!

The BWI scavenger hunt with the pictures will be a treasure in itself.

OMG! I love it!!! I was surprised myself!!! I'm sure your son will be thrilled!!!!!
:yay: I sure hope so. I am already biting a hole in my lip not being able to tell him. I hope it's worth me almost bursting at the seams wanting to tell but yet making myself hold it in! ;) I just want to see him smile. :cloud9:

This is so totally awesome. This will so completely blow him away. Excellent last surprise. You are the Mom for sure. :worship:
You are the mom. Sounds like "You are the man". The boys sometimes say that to each other, friends and teammates and it always cracks me up. :rotfl: I cannot wait to see his face! I hope I am quick enough to get that look on camera! Last surprise? Hmmm...I might just have a little more up my sleeve. :rolleyes1

Thanks! I LOVE scavenger hunts. I have ever since I was little. I hope it does turn out to be even half as much fun as I think it will be.:laughing:

The giant iron hand is found on top of the ESPN place. It's lifting a barbell up. I have been told the elephant house is in the main lobby near the fireplace/BWV check in area.

I worded it like that so it would seem like a 'real Disney' scavenger activity (sort of like the hidden Mickey hunt at the WL). I want to keep him guessing. ;) So...it will be me taking his picture. :thumbsup2 Or at least that's the plan. ;)

That is an awesome surprise! I can't wait to hear the trip report. Also, love the scavenger hunt! You always go out for your guys!
I think I want to make a collection of scavenger hunts for use at the different resorts. How much fun would that be! I cannot wait to enjoy the vacation so I can write about it! ;) In just a little under a month I will be at WDW! :woohoo::yay::woohoo:

I am really looking forward to our meal at T-Rex. I have just heard so many good things about it and I know that we all enjoyed The Rainforest Cafe as well (although we usually go in Chicago and not in Orlando).

As far as the treasure hunt, I know I will treasure the scrapbook made from those pictures/memories for always.

PS I still think of my old neighbor's dog and hearing them yell "Lazy Doxy" out to their dog every time I see you user name. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

They get the name honestly:

I like the scavenger hunt idea so much that...

I am going to do one for him at the Polynesian too! I can see him really loving it!

But before I spring it on him, we will either spend some time in the pool, relaxing in the club lounge or maybe even catching a quick nap (if our room is ready for us).

Relaxing done, it will be scavenger hunt time! This hunt was made with a lot of help from a very nice DISer on the Poly FAQ, Tinkerbelle_325. She was very helpful and really took helping me under her wing. What great people DISers are!

Goofy's Polynesian Photo Scavenger Hunt:

Your adventure begins with searching for a few silly tikis. The tikis you are seeking love to hide in the Boutiki. To pass this step of your adventure you must do one important thing, have your picture taken with your pick for favorite tiki.

Near the falling waters, down close to your toes. Find the hidden Mickey and don’t forget to strike a pose. Have someone take your picture as you pose away.

Aloha is Hawaiian for hello. Mahalo is Hawaiian for thank you. Do you know the word for 'family' in Hawaiian? To complete this task have someone take a picture of you pointing to a sign with the word on it.

Second star to the right and straight on to morning! Find the place with Peter Pan and Tink’s club for kids. Have someone take a picture of you there.

Normally lava would bubble, burst and fly from it’s top but here you will only find water flowing through it. To complete this task, have someone take your picture while you point to it and pretend it’s about to blow.

Near where water flies up from the ground you will find a Tiki who wants to get you wet. Without letting him, pose for a picture.

Captain Jack and Captain Hook...who would they visit when they get hungry? Captain _ _ _ _. To complete this portion of your task, you must buy a snack and have someone take a picture of you doing it.

Pick a palm tree (any one) and show off your smile to get this task done. Don’t forget to have someone snap a picture!

This building is named after our nation’s 50th state . Go there and find a club cast member to visit. Hurry quick, you are almost done! The club cast member will give you your very last clue. Don’t forget the picture!

:thumbsup2

You just go on and on, don't you. I get more amazed with every update. Totally wonderful. I would say Goofy is going to just keep wondering "what comes next". Super duper good. Ginny

If you are as good in person as you are on here, Goofy will totally be fooled, 'cause I seriously thought you were checking out too!

How awesome that he is surprised with an extra night. That's something I'D like to be surprised with!

Can't wait to hear what's in store for him at MNSSHP!
