When Jeremy and I first started dating I was living in an 600 square foot apartment with two other girls. The apartment was the size of a thumb nail to begin with, add three girls all fighting for a bathroom, and you can imagine how cramped it was. 8 months down the line and you can imagine how tight corners became when Jeremy moved in. Then one snowy Valentine's Day our little Valentine came home. Now there were four adults, and one dog living in one sad decrepit little apartment.
Eventually we were able to make our way to our own apartment and living together became a pleasant experience. Not a, I'll kill you if you come any closer kind of circumstance. We had a lovely place that aside from having ant problems in the summer, was a dream come true. However, we were over an hour away from NYC.
This really started posing a problem when I too started working in the area. Our commutes were taking 2 plus hours and it was starting to take a toll on us.
Eventually we made the decision, we had to move. Moving outside of Manhattan is a feat that shouldn't be done unless you are either A. Strong willed or B. Very wealthy. We were neither. We settled on living in an apartment in a home that, unknowingly was over 100 years old.
The year was absolute HELL. Combine the factors of a crazy landlord who would make weekly showings, horrible neighbors from the mafia (seriously), mice, and the last straw, the ceiling falling on my head while watching Cars one night and you have a brief idea of what we went through. Yes, that's right, the ceiling collapsing on my head.
Finally, that nightmare is over and thanks to some very generous relatives and a few strokes of luck and we have a beautiful home. Our experiences only made us treasure our piece of heaven more.
So for those of you who asked, here are a few pictures.

A few Disney touches. The first is an Ostrich Egg painted at the AKL, the rest are carvings bought at the AKL carved in Kenya.

I didn't take pictures of the bedrooms because quite honestly they're empty aside from a bed! It is going to take us years to furnish this place!
