A Pink Pixie Princess - Complete!

I'm still a Sparkle Skirt girl, but I have cut down on buying/looking at new skirts. Although I must have missed the denim custom. Was that on the Fanzone group or the Addicts one? I'm not a member of the Addicts one I don't think. Anyway, a denim option would definitely be appealing from a versatility standpoint. Anyway, I'm expecting my Dr. Who themed sparkle skirts (yeah, plural :sad2:) to finally be done any moment now and then I don't have anything else in queue. I'm tempted by the White Linen since they came out with it in a slim cut because again, versatility (plus I'm thinking ahead for a Donald duck motif for the half run in January). Do you have a white linen one? How does it do with washing up and any issues with transparency? I have debated about selling some of my skirts that I don't wear as often, but really I do put most of them into the rotation, so anytime I start thinking about getting rid of one I back out. I think with the new ones I have coming that will get me up to about 12 skirts or so, which really isn't too bad.

I've been spending a LOT of money lately on running attire and I'm getting tapped out. LOL I recently bought another used InB item (wildflower capris) from the FB page. :rolleyes1

Speaking of spending too much money lately - that darn monkey shirt!!! I was really telling myself not to buy anything new and I just keep going back and looking at that stupid shirt. I love that monkey like soooooo much (his little blue eyes are just begging me to bring him home) and love the red on it as well. I have major FOMO about it.

I'm not in FanZone anymore - I saw the Denim one in Addicts. It has its own group though, so you shold be able to join. Search "Custom SS: Denim Racer." #137 in the queue...ouch!!!

It's interesting because if you look at the commitment form, there's no swing option. :confused3 I just read a post from the admin saying "swings later" and I don't know what the heck that means...but I filled out the form and committed to a slim. This would be my first slim - I hope I like it! I'm planning on trying a slim on at Tink, so we'll see...and of course after I complained here about not hearing anything on my individual denim custom, I get an email from SSHQ that they should have my fabric today. The Sparkle Gods must have heard my complaint! (So yeah - no judgement from me on 2 Dr. Who skirts since I'm about to get 2 denim skirts.)

Yes, I have a WhiteLinen swing! I really like it - the fabric has sort of a sheen that doesn't show up in the SSHQ website photos. I'll try to remember to take a picture later.

When I got mine, there was an option to order with either the grey/silver shorts or the white shorts. I picked the grey/silver due to "transparency" concerns  and I think it's fine. I do have a slight heart attack whenever I wash it...I pull it out of the washer and sort of hold my breath, expecting to see bleeding from something else on it, and it's been okay so far (I think I've worn/washed it 2-3 times). I do use a Color Catcher when I wash that one. I definitely like it!

I was the same with rotating all of them in until I started wearing INKnBURN shirts more. I never understood posts from people who said they had certain skirts that they used for races only - if I spend that much on a skirt, it's gonna get used!
I've been spending a LOT of money lately on running attire and I'm getting tapped out. LOL I recently bought another used InB item (wildflower capris) from the FB page. :rolleyes1
OOOOH good buy! I love those, they are so pretty! :)

:rotfl2:I love the eyes too - I think that part and the grey/red combination are what sold me on that one. Mine just shipped yesterday so I'll post a pic once I get it! :)

Tinker Bell 15K Training - Week 1

Starting a new 8-week lifting cycle today...after I finish this one I might make another appointment with the trainer here at work who set up this plan for me - just to see if it should be tweaked or what the next step is. Still feeling good in the weight room...except that I think both of my hamstrings are still sore from lifting on SATURDAY. :faint: Not fun!

Do you mind me asking what your lifting routine is? I’ve managed to get myself back to the gym and have been trying out some strength training classes to get me started (they’re free with membership). I’ve not started back running just yet though.

Today, I should get added to the Ambassador Facebook page for INKnBURN, as well as have access to the Ambassador section of their website (EDIT: That happened! Woohoo!)

:cheer2:

(4) For anyone who doesn't know, Disneyland ADRs aren't like WDW ADRs. At WDW you can make ADRs for the first 10 days of your trip, 180 days out. For Disneyland, you can make ADRs 60 days out, but just for that one day, not for the length of your trip. They DO have online ADRs, so that aspect of it is pretty easy... so this morning I could make an ADR for a post-5K breakfast for me and my mom (also - people say you don't need ADRs for Disneyland, but I'm too much of a planner to NOT have any).

Disneyland Paris is the same but I’ll be just like you and still booking as soon as it’s possible!

(EDIT: talked to her a bit later and she's at least thinking of getting a 1-day hopper...baby steps).

My Mam is the same! The only reason we managed to get her to have a ticket for the full length of our trip was because we needed to for our free dining package! She isn’t as big of a park person as the rest of us but it worked out so well that we were staying on site because she could follow us to the park later in the day or leave early as she pleased. Hopefully your mam comes around! THERE IS TOO MUCH TO DO TO FIT IT IN ONE DAY… lol

Tuesday, March 8 (2-mile run)

This was probably the best run I have had since I started back up again...my calf felt better the longer I went, and I was huffing and puffing way less.

YAH!!!! So good to see more progress!

Also notable: This was the first time in years I have run in shorts! After the 2013 WDW Marathon I made the switch to SparkleSkirts, and I have been running in those ever since (with the occasional switch to capris/tights). Today I ran in a pair of shorts from INKnBURN - the New Leaf shorts. I've wanted to try running in the InB shorts for awhile and figured I should do it while my runs are still pretty short, in case I ended up chafed. I Body Glide'd up my inner thighs, just in case...

I’m not a fan of running shorts either, I used to always go with capri length but I started running with really thin runner tights and shorts and I really like it! My shorts don’t move & I don’t get any chaffing. I just got a cheap pair of USA PRO ones but they really did the job!

The shorts look really nice in the picture!!

he stressed again that I didn’t get this injury from running - which is an annoyance that I've had, that I know people think running caused this (co-workers and family members have implied as much) - like I was irresponsible with my training or something. He actually said it was most likely genetics-related...so THANKS MOM AND DAD!!

It annoys me when people assume you’ve just done too much or pushed too hard with running and I found myself getting a bit defensive at times during my training… You can be really careful and follow all the guidelines for training and STILL get injured… it happens… HAHAHA how inconsiderate of your parents

and he also wrote me a prescription for a standing desk at work. So hopefully that will come through soon-ish.

I’ve never heard of this! It sounds like a great idea though..

Oh boy...now I get to pick out another race outfit!! :hyper:

Can’t wait to see what you choose!

Friday, March 11 (Lifting + Yoga)

That's right - YOGA. WHAAAAT.

I bet it was strange going back after so long! I’ve only ever tried one yoga class and it was one of those hot ones and I felt like such a loser because I’m not very flexible and struggled with the really simple moves… it’s silly because I should really work on my flexibility and yoga would be great but I feel like I’m TOO bad at it! I might try a yoga exercise video or something at home for a bit first or there are ‘dynamic’ yoga classes in my gym were you continuously move so maybe I’d feel better trying that… hmmmmmmmmmmm

Definitely overdressed for this run...the pullover was overkill.

NAH!! I love it!

But most disappointing of all has been the reaction of some of the members of this board on the Wine & Dine thread here in the runDisney section. (EDIT: This section was longer at one point, but upon further reflection I don't want to prolong the bad feelings, so I'm cutting it way down. Time for me to just grow a thicker skin at let it gooooo!).

I had been following the thread a bit and found it really frustrating… I get people having an opinion and some people not being too bothered by the change but that’s the whole point of a ‘community’ online… we’ve all got different opinions, different plans and different expectations but in this case the change has significantly impacted a lot of people…

ETA: The best thing about the W&D changes - Mr. A is going to do the 10K with me! :yay: Not only that, but he had the idea for us to wear matching INKnBURN shirts for the race...just because he knew it would make me happy. :lovestruc SWOOOON. He's a keeper! So yeah...while I can get upset/bothered over what goes on in the online world, the real world is still pretty great.

GREAT NEWS!! It’ll make it so much more fun for you! 10k is a great distance as well, it was probably my favourite Dopey run even though it rained! It’s long enough so the lines aren’t ridiculous and you can actually stop for pictures but short enough so you can really enjoy it and never really worry about how far from the finish you are.

Catching up on journals so it has taken me a while to get up to date.
Glad you get to participate in Tink and it's likely you'll end up walking a half marathon throughout all the expo and park stuff during that weekend. So just get your own challenge medal for yourself whether it's a giant chocolate covered something at the bakery or a cool ornament/mug etc. At least that's what I'd do because I like any excuse to "treat yo'self"

My hubby had knee surgery last year and everyone would ask how it happened but the answer was also "just good ol' genetics" and people always looked not quite satisfied. Like they wanted some awesome sports injury or epic tiger attack or other gruesome reason.

And finally...I like your leaf shorts with the butterfly top. I am currently still in the "ack shorts" camp for running because in my head I'm still bigger than I really am. I have graduated to shorts under skirts at least, but maybe this summer I need to baby-step my way into shorts by themselves. Just because it gets so hot in capris. I worry about the "riding up" factor mostly. (Weirdly I am totally fine wearing regular shorts all summer long as regular clothes.)
And I also vote blue arms with your tink weekend outfit.

Do you mind me asking what your lifting routine is? I’ve managed to get myself back to the gym and have been trying out some strength training classes to get me started (they’re free with membership). I’ve not started back running just yet though.
It's just a full-body lifting routine that my trainer guy did for me. If I can figure out how to post it, I will. :)
Disneyland Paris is the same but I’ll be just like you and still booking as soon as it’s possible!
We are good little planners!
My Mam is the same! The only reason we managed to get her to have a ticket for the full length of our trip was because we needed to for our free dining package! I know, right?! Although thinking about it more, she's not a big rides person - so she won't be going on, like, Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Tower of Terror, etc. I might be able to get her on Radiator Springs Racers, but I'm not sure about that one either!
YAH!!!! So good to see more progress!

Sounds like a good solution! No chaffing is always good!
The shorts look really nice in the picture!!
I love them. Here's a GIGANTIC picture of them! I wish I could re-size it!

Ahhhh I know what you mean! Sometimes things happen!

The funny thing is, my dad was one person who assumed that the back thing was from running (or that we need a new mattress, which, I don't think we do). And I told that to Dr. Spine and he was like, "well, it's more like a genetics thing...so you can call your dad and tell him it's his fault!" :rotfl2:
I’ve never heard of this! It sounds like a great idea though..
The standing desk has been ordered! When it comes in, I'll take a picture of my new set-up...such excitement! The few people in my department that have them seem to really like them, so I hope I will too!
Can’t wait to see what you choose!
It's such a big decision...eek!!
I bet it was strange going back after so long! It WAS! It was good though!

Isn't yoga difficult sometimes?? I feel like people think it's just, like, stretching and saying "om" - but it's tough!
NAH!! I love it!
:lovestruc

Yes, you hit the nail on the head with the "community" thing! I so agree with you!!

You know, I think the 10K was my second favorite during Dopey (I had, like, a weirdly almost-perfect marathon, which I'll probably never top). I really like the 10K distance a lot (not too long, not too short) and I liked the course. I'm looking forward to running it with Mr. A! :lovestruc

Have I ever told you that you're a genius? Because you're a genius. Hmm.... :sceatchin
My hubby had knee surgery last year and everyone would ask how it happened but the answer was also "just good ol' genetics" and people always looked not quite satisfied. Like they wanted some awesome sports injury or epic tiger attack or other gruesome reason.
Epic tiger attack...hahaha. Maybe I need to come up with a better story? Like...there was a car accident and a child was pinned under a tire and I lifted the car up with all of my huge muscles just in time to rescue the child...but in the process threw my back out. But I'd do it again to rescue a precious child! *flex*

That seems better than "I woke up one day and my foot was tingly and my leg burned"...
And finally...I like your leaf shorts with the butterfly top. I am currently still in the "ack shorts" camp for running because in my head I'm still bigger than I really am. I know the "in my head I think I'm bigger than I really am" phenomenon - it's weird, isn't it?

I love that outfit so much. Maybe that'll be my Tink 10K outfit if I continue to not get chafed by shorts. But I'm not sure how good it actually looks *on me,* if that makes sense. The shorts are still shorter than what I'm used to - 5" inseam on the InB shorts vs. the 6.5" inseam on the SparkleSkirts shorts that I have been running in for years. That's actually not as big of a difference as I though (just looked at the size charts to compare), but it seems way different to me!

Hey Ariel! I've been following along with your journal for a while, but have never posted. Good news that your recovery seems to be going smoothly. And awesome on being able to get a 10K bib for Tink. :)

As for the comments about Wine and Dine, I know I had a couple posts in there, and I hope I wasn't one who hurt your feelings or bothered you in any way. If so, I apologize, and didn't mean for anyone to take anything personally. I'm hopeful to be able to be there that weekend as well - I'm itching to do the Lumiere Challenge.

It's just a full-body lifting routine that my trainer guy did for me. If I can figure out how to post it, I will. :)

Oh great thanks! Not that I would be anywhere near your level for lifting.
I’ve put together a bit of a plan starting next week to get training again. Feeling rather wobbly lately lol

I know, right?! Although thinking about it more, she's not a big rides person - so she won't be going on, like, Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Tower of Terror, etc. I might be able to get her on Radiator Springs Racers, but I'm not sure about that one either!

My Mam doesn’t like rollercoasters or thrill rides much but I can get her on Big Thunder and she enjoyed the mine train too. We kept teasing her pretending that we’d tricked her into going on a rollarcoaster like when we got in the test track car and had moved off I was like ‘this is my favourite rollarcoaster’ and when we went into the really dark bit on the people mover I told her to get her hands up for the big drop… Tehehehe

I love them. Here's a GIGANTIC picture of them! I wish I could re-size it!

Haha it is gigantic!! They look great though!

Dads always think they know best! My Dad was AWESOME during our Dopey training and in both marathons but he loved to give a good lecture too lol

The standing desk has been ordered! When it comes in, I'll take a picture of my new set-up...such excitement! The few people in my department that have them seem to really like them, so I hope I will too!

Oh great news! Ye definitely take a picture!

Isn't yoga difficult sometimes?? I feel like people think it's just, like, stretching and saying "om" - but it's tough!

Well… I used to think it was easy when my only exposure was with my wii fit but after trying a class I was definitely proved wrong!

Yes, you hit the nail on the head with the "community" thing! I so agree with you!!

It’s sad when it discourages people from posting…

You know, I think the 10K was my second favorite during Dopey (I had, like, a weirdly almost-perfect marathon, which I'll probably never top). I really like the 10K distance a lot (not too long, not too short) and I liked the course. I'm looking forward to running it with Mr. A! :lovestruk

Aw I’d love to have that experience one day… I had some really great high points during the marathon but I also REALLY struggled to run at other times. I think (like everyone else) I’d like to come back in 2018 and give it a shot.

I may have asked you this already but you have Goofy 2017 listed in your signature… are you planning to sign up for it?

The leaf shorts are perfect for Tink! The leaf tank or those rose shirt would be cute with it and totally nature-esqe in the theme without sacrificing the 'Burn!

Hey Ariel! I've been following along with your journal for a while, but have never posted. Good news that your recovery seems to be going smoothly. And awesome on being able to get a 10K bib for Tink. :)
I'm excited about the 10K! I'll be more excited once I know I can officially defer PDC...

If so, I apologize, and didn't mean for anyone to take anything personally. I'm hopeful to be able to be there that weekend as well - I'm itching to do the Lumiere Challenge.
:) I was upset but I'm over it now. Good learning experience for me.
Oh great thanks! Not that I would be anywhere near your level for lifting.
I’ve put together a bit of a plan starting next week to get training again. Feeling rather wobbly lately lol
GIRL...I don't know what you think my level is, but it's not that impressive! :rotfl2:

I tried to upload my "plan" but the DIS and Excel files don't seem to get along, so I'll have to try it with screenshots!
I'm not even sure my mom would do Big Thunder! MAYBE Seven Dwarves Mine Train...part of my research before the trip is going to be figuring out what rides I think she'll be up for! :scratchin She has vertigo so that's something to consider.

LOL with you teasing her on the PeopleMover, that's hilarious!!
Haha it is gigantic!! They look great though!
At least you got a nice, thorough look, right? :teeth:
Dads always think they know best! My Dad was AWESOME during our Dopey training and in both marathons but he loved to give a good lecture too lol
So true!! My dad loves to lecture too...sigh.
Oh great news! Ye definitely take a picture!
I will!!
Well… I used to think it was easy when my only exposure was with my wii fit but after trying a class I was definitely proved wrong!
Yes! And especially if you go to a power class or something...it's a butt kicker!
It’s sad when it discourages people from posting…
Yeah, I mean...I love participating in the runDisney section and I love trying to help out people navigating the races for the first time, and I want to keep doing that, so I'll just need to grow a thicker skin. :)
Aw I’d love to have that experience one day… I had some really great high points during the marathon but I also REALLY struggled to run at other times. I think (like everyone else) I’d like to come back in 2018 and give it a shot.
I seriously think that the weather helped me a LOT that weekend - I felt way better after Dopey in 2015 than Goofy in 2013 (when there was a heat advisory all weekend)...same training. So that was lucky!

EVERYONE will be back in 2018 (myself included, I hope)...eek!!
I may have asked you this already but you have Goofy 2017 listed in your signature… are you planning to sign up for it?
I don't think you have - and yes, I am!! :)
The leaf shorts are perfect for Tink! The leaf tank or those rose shirt would be cute with it and totally nature-esqe in the theme without sacrificing the 'Burn!
I thought about that! I think the leaf colors clash though...also, I'm so not a fan of Tink that I'd feel a little iffy "dressing" as her! And would all of my friends disown me?! :rotfl2:
25259711853_5fc54139a9_z.jpg

My other thought was Leafy Charm...Rose shirt definitely works with the shorts too. HMMM...

So the first thing I think of when I see your leaf outfit is A Bug's Life and then I think of the Princess Atta (I think that's her name)
And so my brain thinks purple sleeves and a leaf crown would be a good subtle "small creature but not fairy" character reference.
But that's like super random of my brain.
img-thing

Also I got my bird leggings yesterday and I'm in love. I'll have to upload some pics shortly.

Ugh. No, those don't look good together AT ALL! I thought they were released as a matched set! The leaf shirt looks wonderful with the Irish skirt- the colors are so complimentary that I like it even though I have a strong aversion to pattern mixing. I might have gone and looked through your instgram pics to see what inknburn you already own that would work well for Tink with out being Tink-ish. I have two daughters so I've already seen ALL the damn movies so I've taken the bullet for you and am quite versed in her lore. Also, my little sister was "friends with" Tink when she did college program which is the fairy's only saving grace in my opinion. Anyhoo ... I think the monarch butterfly one has potential and I don't know what it's called, but it says it was posted 47 weeks ago- it's a light blue shirt with a plum and raspberry-colored healing mandala flower- fits into Pixie Hollow without being overtly fairy and you therefore would still be allowed to keep ALL of your current friends!
Princess Atta is a cute idea too- AND she has wings, so you'd fit in with the whole winged nature Disney theme. I was totally going to be TinkerThor for the half but since I won't be going I'll have to stick that idea on hold and see if I still like it come Avengers time.

How cute would that be!! That is such a great, unique idea. I'm definitely going to keep that in mind. :)

OMG - I LOVE your leggings!!! Jumping over to your thread to ooh and ahh over them. :)
Ugh. No, those don't look good together AT ALL! I thought they were released as a matched set!
You'd think! The shirt was released in 2014, I think...the shorts were last year. Not a set (obviously since they don't really work together). :(
The leaf shirt looks wonderful with the Irish skirt- the colors are so complimentary that I like it even though I have a strong aversion to pattern mixing.
Yeah, pattern mixing is definitely a little dicey! Sometimes it works and sometimes it's just TOO MUCH. I don't want to be an eyesore.

:rotfl2: Too kind of you, hahahahaha!!!

That is pretty cool that your sister was friends with Tink!! I do like the monarch shirt a lot, that's a favorite of mine. And I know the other shirt you're talking about - Healing Mandala, another favorite. I need to get one of those apps where you can load in pictures of all of you clothes and mix and match to make different oufits - like Cher had in Clueless. That would be perfect for this!!

So many good options...definitely a good "problem" to have. :)

Okay, just like you won't see me wearing a tiara at Princess weekend - you will NOT see me wearing wings!! Or a tutu. Not happening!

TinkerThor MUST happen. Or something like it - I know you would come up with something awesome!

Monday, March 14 (Lifting + Yoga)
Happy Pi Day from your resident math nerd (even though I've already said so in other replies :)).

Today I lifted, and it was fine. :)

More notable: I went to yoga today! Friday's class felt so good that I decided I wanted to try to go again ASAP. The one I found that worked best with my schedule was a "Warm Slow Flow," which was described as slower-paced and more relaxing than the "Warm for all levels" class I went to on Friday ("warm" means that the studio is heated to 80-85 degrees...it feels sooooo good). Since Friday went so well, and tonight's class was a "slow flow," I got cocky and went into it thinking that I was totally going to own this class (and just like Friday, I arrived early to talk to the teacher about my nerve issues - different teacher from Friday's class).

And I did ownt he class...for about the first half of it. :upsidedow Then we got into this sequence where we were holding lunges and things for a decently long time and my body was just like, "NOPE." I can partially blame that on my bum left leg (it's still just...weak sometimes) and on my slightly numb left foot (my balance has never been very good on my left side, and the foot numbness doesn't help with that - so when a sequence of balance poses came up, that didn't go spectacularly), but mostly I think I just need to be content with one class per week for a bit, until I get into better shape. I'm not gonna lie - I spent a good chunk of the second half of class in child's pose. Yoga is humbling sometimes.

Overall, the stretching DID feel good, once I was a little more warmed up. I would like to add in 1-2 more classes per week (I'm thinking I'll attempt a second weekly class in April, assuming I'm going to my Friday class consistently for the rest of March), and that would have to be after work. Today I had enough time to come home and do some dinner prep and get things ready for work tomorrow (pack my lunch, lay out my running outfit and my work outfit, etc.) - the studio I go to is, like, 3 miles from my house, so it wasn't super out of the way to go home first. When yoga was over I just came home, popped dinner in the over and showered (and cleaned my yoga mat - tip for anyone who has one, my studio recommended a mixture of 1 part alcohol + 3 parts water in a spray bottle - I got a cheap spray bottle from Target. I roll out my mat, give it a quick spray with the alcohol/water mixture, and let it dry. And even though I don’t love Lululemon all that much, I HIGHLY recommend their yoga mat - pricey but worth it. It's got a good amount of cushioning, and whatever the material is, if you're sweaty, you don't slip - so no need to buy a mat towel or anything like that. Great purchase, even though it didn't smell super great when I first got it...whatever the material is needed to air out for quite awhile).

Mr. A and I were eating by 7:50ish (Skinnytaste Bruschetta Chicken, yuummmmm), which I thought was pretty good since class went from 6:15-7:15. So once I think I'm ready, it'll definitely take some planning to make an evening class or two work, but today made me think it is doable with my schedule.

The weekday evening classes I could potentially go to are either the slow flow classes or the "powerful" flow hot classes ("hot" meaning that the studio is heated to 88-90 degrees - it sounds insane but it can feel super amazing). The power classes are more advanced, and a couple of years ago I actually go to the point where I was able to keep up during those classes! I'd like to get back to the power classes eventually, but tonight's experience DEFINITELY reaffirms my belief that I'm not in good enough shape for those just yet!

Tuesday, March 15 (2.5-mile run)

SO dead from yoga yesterday..."slow flow" my you-know-what!!!

Stairs and just general walking around are SO tough for me today!! Last night's teacher (also named Shannon) just about killed me! But oddly enough, my run felt pretty good. A LOT less huffing and puffing, and I upped the speed a little bit (what is it about the treadmill that makes me want to run slower than outdoors?!). Progress.

I'm sticking to my 1:30/1:00 intervals for the time being...maybe I'll up them to 1:45/1:00 on Saturday since today felt pretty good.

My run intervals were done at 10:45ish/mile for the first 10 minutes, 10:30/mile for the second 10 minutes, and 10:20/mile for the rest of the run. Still around 18:00/mile for the walk breaks. Total time was 31:11, 12:28/mile pace. Not bad, not bad. What was bad was attempting some stairs later in the day...I wanted to give up halfway through. Why you gotta be like that, yoga teacher Shannon?

Also...t-minus 1 week until early registration for Wine & Dine! You know, assuming they don’t move it again. :rolleyes2

ALSO...I voted today. :) 'Merica.

Wednesday, March 16 (Lifting)
Off with my head!
25307046954_2a0a0c1315_z.jpg

Lifting was good this morning, except that I had to do lunges today - I think that those may be my least favorite thing to do in the weight room, which is a bummer since they seem to come up somewhat frequently in my lifting program (my least favorite thing to do used to be planks, but I've gotten better at those so I don't hate them QUITE as much). Lunges are good to do, though, so I do them (holding a 12-pound weight in each hand. It seems like I should be able to do more than that...and yet, I can't just yet). BOO!

Thursday, March 17 (2-mile run)

Top o' the morning! Wheeee!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Had to bust out my Lucky Charm skirt...but I was too shy to wear the full outfit with the matching top to the cardio room at work, so I went with the Black Lace racerback top isntead. Lacey Charm. And on the right I'm wearing a super cute St. Patty's Day scarf from The Bow Mama. She has a really cute one with a monorail print and I am trying SO hard to resist buying it!!

Anyway...first time running in the skirt, and as with any running skirt, my #1 concern was that the shorts would ride up - they didn't!! I love this skirt even more now!

GREAT run today!! Pretty much zero pain at this point...I still have periods of stiffness (I guess?) in my left foot/lower leg, but for most of the run it was fine. I think I'm getting into better cardiovascular shape too. :)

I stuck with the 1:30/1:00 intervals again today, but I made my running intervals faster: 5.6 MPH (10:40ish/mile) for the first 10 minutes, 5.7MPH (10:30ish/mile) for the next 10 minutes, and 5.8 MPH (10:20/mile) for the rest of the run. It went REALLY well. Total time for this run was 25:08, 12:34/mile pace. I felt good enough that I'm planning on bumping up my run intervals to 1:45 on Saturday...hopefully that'll go okay!

Friday, March 18 (Lifting + Yoga)

Lifting was good today, but yoga was better. This time I totally kicked butt on the balance sequence during this class, and I was able to do standing splits and balancing half moon on my left side without using yoga blocks - both hurt at first, for a second or so, but eventually I had my hands almost flat on the ground like I used to be able to do. :) I even did a headstand today and didn't kill myself - what?!

Worst for me right now is chair pose (which is exactly what it sounds like) - when I do that I can still feel weakness in my upper ankle, I guess? And a bit in my hamstring. Looking forward to that going away!

I got some fun mail today - new Monkey Tech shirt and Healing Mandala shorts! INKnBURN changed how they make the shorts...the fabric is lighter and silkier - each pair still has 2 decently sized front pockets though. I LOVE these!! I was also thrilled that it was warm enough to be outside in short sleeves and shorts and not be too cold (that didn't last).

Also notable - Daredevil Season 2 starts today!! EEEEK!!

Saturday, March 19 (3.5-mile run)
Woohoo!! Another week done!

Temperature dropped today so I was back in tights and a pullover with a long-sleeved tech shirt underneath. The wind was tough today!!

I upped my running intervals to 1:45, but after feeling so wrecked last week I promised myself I was going to relax the pace a bit today. Despite that, halfway through I wasn't sure I was going to make it! I just felt so...tired and weak. I really had to talk myself through this one, reminding myself to be strong and keep my shoulders level. I guess a hallmark of having sciatic issues is that a person really leaves to one side - the left side in my case - and as I got tired I could just feel myself leaning more and more, and it wasn't making things any easier. Making an effort to stand up straight was tough at first but it helped a lot and I finished strong.

Overall pace for this run was 11:56 (total time 41:45 or something). This run was definitely a mixed bag...I'm disappointed with how hard it still seems to be for me, relieved that I decided not to do the Tink Half (because this was an eye-opener - if it's this hard now, less than 2 months before the race, there's no way I'll be ready to have an enjoyable race), but encouraged that I stuck it out and finished strong. Emotional rollercoaster!

Sunday, March 20 (Rest)
:) Happy Sunday.

GIRL...I don't know what you think my level is, but it's not that impressive! :rotfl2:

I tried to upload my "plan" but the DIS and Excel files don't seem to get along, so I'll have to try it with screenshots!

Well it's impressive to me lol Especially the combination of the strength training and running. I had one toning class last week and played Tag Rugby on the same day and I could barely walk the next day!!

It is tricky with mine train because you hear people screaming and it looks a bit more thrilling than it actually is as you're walking up to the ride! Hopefully she'll be able for a few of them but also just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere, eating ALL the food and watching some shows are some of my favourite things at disney!

Yes! And especially if you go to a power class or something...it's a butt kicker!

Power class???? I'm definitely not ready for that haha sounds scary!!

Yeah, I mean...I love participating in the runDisney section and I love trying to help out people navigating the races for the first time, and I want to keep doing that, so I'll just need to grow a thicker skin. :)

Ye I love helping people out with tips as those same tips helped me so much for my first half and Dopey this year. I would have been totally clueless and not properly prepared without those forums!

I seriously think that the weather helped me a LOT that weekend - I felt way better after Dopey in 2015 than Goofy in 2013 (when there was a heat advisory all weekend)...same training. So that was lucky!

Ye weather certainly plays a part! You had a great training schedule leading up to as well!

EVERYONE will be back in 2018 (myself included, I hope)...eek!!

YAH!! Registration is going to be soooo tense!!

I don't think you have - and yes, I am!! :)

Oh that's great! I'd be tempted myself actually... we were talking about a September trip next year though with the family again... hmmmmm :scratchin

I spent a good chunk of the second half of class in child's pose. Yoga is humbling sometimes.

I can totally nail child pose... it's my go to move!!

A LOT less huffing and puffing, and I upped the speed a little bit (what is it about the treadmill that makes me want to run slower than outdoors?!). Progress.

Yah well done!!! So good reading all your progress

Top o' the morning! Wheeee!

I'm impressed with your once a week yoga plan. If I had I a nickel for every time I said I was going to go to a yoga class during the week . . . But I do really want to start that up again! Yoga is so amazing, but it's so easy for me to not take the time, because running will be always be priority number one, and then strength training comes second, and then there just isn't a lot of time!

And I will have to look into the lululemon yoga mat. I have a cheap Target one that is like 12 years old, and I would love an upgrade. Maybe that will be the push I need to start going again haha

I always run slower on the treadmill than outside. The upside for me is I'm always pleasantly surprised by my little bump up in pace when I start running outside again :)

Oh, your lashes in your St. Patrick's pic are gorgeous! You are quite the beaut!

Ok so how ultra violent is Daredevil? I loved loved loved Jessica Jones, but I got scared off of seeing Daredevil after hearing it was pretty brutal. Speaking of brutal types though, I finally finished House of Cards and was blown away! This season's arc just got better and better I thought!

I don't know how I missed this for so long, but I just realized that Pi Day and St. Patrick's Day are only a few days apart. That's an exciting week for an Irish nerd!

You're doing great! I know you had a rough run on Saturday, but you stuck it out, and in the end, that's what matters! Maybe you're not back to 100% yet ... but you're close enough that you can keep running, and that's awesome. Keep up the good work!

Oh, I know what you mean. If I start strength training after a lay-off, the first few days are NOT pretty. I'm impressed that you play rugby, I am way too much of a wimp for that!!
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I think she could handle Mine Train. :scratchin Definitely need some research!!
Power class???? I'm definitely not ready for that haha sounds scary!!
Seriously, it's intense. They just add in extra push-ups and things here and there, stuff like that. It's soooo hard!
Ye I love helping people out with tips as those same tips helped me so much for my first half and Dopey this year. I would have been totally clueless and not properly prepared without those forums!
That's how I was, too. I had Holly's 2009 Marathon report from WDWMagic to guide me...I wouldn't have known what to do without that!
Ye weather certainly plays a part! You had a great training schedule leading up to as well!
True! The training definitely paid off. :)
YAH!! Registration is going to be soooo tense!!
UGGGHHHH I know! I am already not looking forward to it!
Oh that's great! I'd be tempted myself actually... we were talking about a September trip next year though with the family again... hmmmmm :scratchin
Yeah a non-running trip to WDW would not be the worst thing in the world! :)

I had a lot of time on my hands when I wasn't running over the past couple of months and it occurred to me that 2017 is an anniversary year for the half, sooooo...I want that anniversary bling! :teeth:

I can totally nail child pose... it's my go to move!!
SAME! :rotfl2: I am also excellent at savasana!
Yah well done!!! So good reading all your progress
THANKS!! I am glad to actually be able to report some progress! :)
Happy St Patrick's Day!!!!! :drinking1
WOOHOOOOO you too! Did you do anything special?! I just went to work. :upsidedow
Look at you!! Yoga queen...!!
BWAHAHAHAHA...yes bow down! :p J/K!!!
Sounds like a pretty good week! And I absolutely love those Inknburn shorts!
:) The weeks are getting a little bitter as time goes on! I love the shorts too, soooo comfy.
Ah, I know exactly what you mean. If I lose time out of my week, yoga is on the chopping block. :(
And I will have to look into the lululemon yoga mat. I have a cheap Target one that is like 12 years old, and I would love an upgrade. Maybe that will be the push I need to start going again haha
It's a REALLY nice mat. I have a couple of cheaper ones from Target (Gaiam brand I think? A store at work had them on sale one day for $1 apiece - ONE DOLLAR! - so I have like 3-4 :rotfl2:) and my hands would always slip on them, so I ended up buying a mat towel to put on it - which was expensive, and I still didn't love it. The Lululemon mat is definitely an investment but I wish I would have just bitten the bullet and spent the money on it in the first place. I've had it for over a year and it has held up decently well, and the cushioning mad a huge difference, so I'm glad I made the investment.
I always run slower on the treadmill than outside. The upside for me is I'm always pleasantly surprised by my little bump up in pace when I start running outside again :)
Yeah, it's weird because it seems like it should be the opposite since the treadmill surface is softer and the belt is sort of pulling you along...and no little incline changes or anything. I think it's totally mental with me, like I'm afraid to set it at a speed that I don't think I can maintain...which is dumb because I could then just adjust the speed down. :confused3
Oh, your lashes in your St. Patrick's pic are gorgeous! You are quite the beaut!
Well that just made my day...thank you!!! :o :lovestruc
OMG...it's really violent. I too love Jessica Jones, and I would say that that show had more, like...psychological violence, I guess? Daredevil is intense in a different way, and I think they upped the violence this year. There have been a couple of scenes that have been REALLY hard to watch. We watched an episode last night and were both turning away multiple times...it is BY FAR the most violent show I have ever watched.

Wasn't House of Cards so good?? I thought it was SO much better than last season. The last 30 seconds of the finale was my favorite part!!
I don't know how I missed this for so long, but I just realized that Pi Day and St. Patrick's Day are only a few days apart. That's an exciting week for an Irish nerd!
:rotfl2: Right?? It was a big week!

Thanks Sarah, that's so nice of you to say. I definitely need to work on focusing on the positive and the progress! :)
