A perfect example of redistributing the wealth

I just read this and it is perfect

In a local restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to

redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was
grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Where did you find a restaurant that pays waiters more than $250,000 a year?

I think this is the third time this has been posted and prsurfer has had the best response so far:

or the republican way...

Take the tip, give it to the restaurant, and trust them to trickle it down.

This Hallowe'en, I'm going to have Obama lawn signs in my yard, and wear an Obama t-shirt for the trick-or-treaters.

Then, when they ring my bell, I'm going to open the door, reach in their bag, and take half their stuff.

I will then redistribute it as *I* see fit.

A little taste of what's to come.

so nice of the folks here to be so green and recycle this thread!!!

come on ..where is the new material????

I guess I redistribute the wealth too, but from the bottom up. The youngest kiddo's (toddlers, pre-schoolers), get two of the good stuff (Milky Ways,M&M's, etc). The teenagers (well able to afford their own candy and too old to trick or treat) get a piece of an el cheapo candy.

I guess I'm practicing Obama's brand of economics since I think those able to buy their own candy need to take less from me.

 Too funny, and a totally accurate presentation:laughing:

I must have missed it the first time around.

I am all for small government but since no-one every really gives me a dime back I'm starting to think I'd still rather give it to the poor than the big companies that keep farming out the jobs to other countries anyway

I think everyone on the ballot is all for wealth redistribution, one side wants to give it to the rich and the other wants to give it to the poor but no-one wants to let me keep it.

Aren't you guys/gals being a little hateful to the OP? Hmmmm...? Oh wait, that does not apply to you.

Can't quite figure out if the OP did this - or is recounting something done by someone else..

Either way, if this really happened, I think it was rude and childish..

First of all, the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010. Obama will let them expire, which will be an automatic tax increase for everyone who pays taxes. Secondly, he is for eliminating the cap of $92K on social security taxes, which will mean a 12% increase on everyone making more than $92K per year. With his trillions in new social spending, there will be a simplified tax form;

Line 1. How much did you make?
Line 2. Send in the sum of Line 1.

No, I couldn't be that original but one thing does puzzle me

Can you explain how this was rude and childish. I think more like trying to get a point across.

I do this every year.

Little kids get more.

Someone tried to get the same point across yesterday, and they used the same story.

We get it, the waiter is rich and his wealth is being shared with the homeless person. The Horror.

Obama says the cornerstone of his Economic Policy is "Spread the Wealth". It sounds like Slavery Reparations might just be back on the table. After all, it's just another tool to help "Spread the Wealth".

What a great civics lesson for the kids!!!

This is what BO and his pal Joey will do to all of us!!

Excellent idea!

Hmm, interesting story.

As for me, I would have probably eaten at a more reasonably priced restaurant or cooked at home, then made sure there was enough money for the waiter AND the homeless guy.

To each their own.....
