A peek inside the Poly bungalows

Heck, I can stay in a VGF grand villa for the same amount of points.

This is what we are doing. Staying in a two bedroom at GVFs for a pre cruise. There will be three of us (Ill be with my mom and her friend) but even when we travel with my family and usually my mom to Disney we get two bedrooms. My kids are 21 and 17 and my ds-17 is 6'4". He needs a real bed. I would never have the five of us in a studio.

But, in September, my dd will be back at college and my ds will have started school so keeping them and my dh at home and trying out the studios on my own before heading to GFVs.

Are the Longhouses the studios? If I have a Lake View will I see the EWP?

Construction and all, Im looking forward to my one night stay since I cant see us ever booking these accomodations since not practice for us.

Ill be there in September so guessing the Main Pool will be open. Thank you.

Count me in on the "meh" reaction group.

The poly always intrigued me in the past, but the new changes to the GCH and now the addition of these view blockers makes the resort feel more like a money grab than a well themed resort. Hopefully my feelings will change once the pool area is finished.

The Poly bungalows are one of the last places on site I'd stay. They're just too out in the open for my liking and I grew up with 60s/70s decor that my parents still have pieces of in their house to this day. **shudder** If I do stay at the poly in the future I'm aiming for a concierge cash room with a discount. ;)

The living room doesn't seem as pulled together or inviting as the drawings, but I like the rest a lot.

I agree the plain beige carpeting just seems to dull it down even more. I really thought the bungalow carpet would have a design in it like the studios are supposed to have. I liked the bathroom and the one room with surfboards as a headboard. I couldn't see much of the other room as the photo was dark. The deck looks good. I was hoping that someone would take photos of the hanging baskets on the deck. We saw them being hung when we were floating by in a Sea Racer in December.

Those swings are fun, if you are curious as to how these feel, Pier 1 imports has had these style seats in their inventory over the last decade or so. IMHO, they're comfortable for kids and teens as the back is curved down and away (or perhaps, someone who's had a number of drinks and is numb to awkward positions, LOL.) They could also be comfortable for adults with leg or back issues if padded correctly. Boy I wish I were a kid again. They look nice though and I'd love to see folk using them.

The rooms look nice, but not for the point charge. That's where the disparity comes in for me. Although, they could line the buildings with gold and I still wouldn't waste that many of my points on a 2 bedroom lite.

I don't usually notice color that much, but why are the walls white? Ick----there are so many colors that would warm them up, or more vibrant for a "wow" factor.

Best thing about the bungalows is the outside except for the bucket pool. Well worth the points :furious:

I guess we can truly only splash ourselves in the splash pool! Hopefully it will fit two so if we ever decided to stay there, I can splash my husband and he can splash me!

It does set off the color of the natural wood well and allow the use of vibrant accent colors.

It isn't a splash pool, it's a dipping pool used to get the bugs off of you because your room is over water. :-)

We love the design and thought that went into VGF, maybe because GF is Disney's flagship resort and DVC was forced to maintain a higher level of construction and design.

The Poly, BLT, and the SSR, VWL, BCV and BWV refurbs all seem generic, theme lacking and not Disney like IMO.

I really don't know what DVD/DVC is thinking.

+1 Bill,

I loved the old poly so that maybe playing a part. This one seems so generic. patio furniture looks like some thing from Jcpenny. ugh I want to cry

What's up with that 1960's beach bingo head board?
