A Northern Family's Southern Getaway -Take 2 Jan 2010 PTR Updated 1/15 SNACKS

Oh yeah BTW - In case anybody was wondering (and I know that some of you totally were :rolleyes1 ) The countdown ticker in my siggie is actually 1 DAY OFF!!!! We actually leave for Disney in 2 Months and 1 day. We will be IN Disney in 2 months and 2 days!

:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :cool1:

DAY 5 - ALL DAY AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM

This Day will again be an early start for us! ;) We have an 8:05am ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. When we asked the girls where they wanted to eat on this trip, they both shouted out at exactly the same time - "CRYSTAL PALACE" :) They were both more thanjust a little disappointed when I told them them that their beloved CP was going to be closed for refurb during our trip. :sad2:

I am also disappointed at missing the Crystal Palace. It was food so rich I'm still wearing it (not on my face, on my belly). That and the chance to use the "onomatopoeia" line with Eeyore.

So, for this trip CP will be replaced by LTT. The food sounds yummy and I am actually excited about the fact that it is served Family Style! I found it a little stressful to try to get over to the buffet while watching for characters! I really hope that we will be able to finish and be at the Fantasyland Rope Drop for 9am! :cool1:

Pet peves:

1. Rushing through a buffet meal because characters are spaced 5 minutes apart. Here is my memory of Chef Mickeys:

A) Get awesome food in buffet.
B) Scarf food.
C) Characters parade out and start visiting tables in a clockwise fashion. They start immediately to my right.
D) Wait to take picture of kids with Mickey.
E) Bolt to the buffet line for seconds of ribs.
F) Nearly bowl over a slow moving kid with poor co-ordination when sprinting back to the table to photograph Donald.
G) Repeat until you leave.

2. Having an appointment RIGHT after a buffet. When filled to capacity the stomach is inclined to push back on the area of least resistance, or what goes down with grace and joy returns with acid.

Here is the list of what we hope to accomplish on this day at MK - anybody wanna make bets on how much we actually are able to accomplish? ;)

Dumbo - Long wait, but if you get bored look close to see the groundhogs impaled on the apertures.
Peter Pan - Awesome use of black light to best effect.
Winnie the Pooh - Neat ride, but Peter pan makes better use of the height.
Tea Cups - I was born for this ride. Emily and I do our best to detach our internal organs from our skeletal structure on here. WAY FUN!
Mickey's Philharmagic (may skip if we did it on our first evening) - Unless it rocks. Then I'll put my foot down, if you'll let me dear.
Carrousel - Yes, I know, search for Cinderella's horse. This ride is cooler after dark.
IASW - :scared1:
Haunted Mansion - Funny the younger one likes this one, but Emily (and I) are nervous.
Big Thunder Mountain - Emily was bored by her 3rd run on this last year. That's my girl!
LUNCH - depending on how hungry we are we may share some CS (CHH) - I will not share any.
Pirates of the Caribbean - x3 pirate:
Aladdin's Flying Carpets - Wallet stays in backpack on this ride. Don't let camel spit on us.
Jungle Cruise - Maybe we'll get the same girl last year, she was HILARIOUS. What was her name?
Swiss Family Treehouse - I will most likely make a snake noise in this one to scare Kim. Pictures for the rest of the day will include me with my new black eye.
Enchanted Tiki Birds - MUST... DO... IAGO... IMPRESSION! I did impressions during a fringe festival a few years ago and learned how to do Gilbert Gottfried's voice. Useful in two places: Elevators and DisneyWorld.
Grab a snack - And eat snack.
Find a seat for Parade - I must remember to pack inflatable cushions. If it get the hemorrhoid kind no one will think I'm a wuss.
Watch Parade - And take pictures.
Shop on Main St - I think I'll get a wicker hat.
Leave for POFQ - AWWWWWWWW

You forgot to mention "Not lose my wallet" and "Have Ken meet Stacey".

For a thrill ride guy I LOVE Magic Kingdom for the rides with the kids. They love them and I can enjoy the detail work on them.

Except for "It's a small world". I could enjoy that ride after a tympanic membrane rupture.

We picked up a CD set last year of the music from the rides from each park. An awesome buy. I am an armchair researcher in neurological science and I find how we store memories fascinating. We remember through all the senses and so if you can use something other than sight as a memory you will be better able to revisit the moment. Hearing the "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtrack does that for me.

Once we arrive back at POFQ, assuming it is nice weather, I think we will all be ready for a swim! :thumbsup2 If it is NOT nice and sunny warm, perhaps we will do a tour of playgrounds at POFQ/POR! We have no further plans for the rest of the day so we will most likely just hang out and enjoy our resort!
We will probably eat at one or the other of the CS eateries at POFQ/POR! I will definitely be trying some Beignets this evening! mmmmm mmmmmm :cloud9:

As novel as swimming in January/February is, I'm still there for the parks. Can I catch up with you later? I'm sure Emily could go for a second round of rides with only one Red Bull.

Here are some of my fave pics from our days at MK this past January!

Surprisingly enough THIS is crowded to me.

Helpful kid, instead of trying to remove said sword and save me the disc injury, she hams it up for the camera.

"You don't intimidate me Hook. Mine may be smaller but I am well skilled with it, I practice almost every day."

"No Mom, I don't need a nap. I'm not tired. What makes you think so?"

DSC02037.jpg

"Ok, you kids be good for Zurg. We'll be back to pick you up after we get to Thunder Mountain together."

up next: Day 6: A sleep in day? And our return to Epcot!

Oh Ken - you are too funny!!:lmao:

what CDs did you guys get? The Four Parks, one World? I'm mad that I didn't buy them last time - I had them in my hands twice! this trip for sure!

The UG CC has Friday January 29th listed as a "4" so with that as a prediction of crowd size and if we are smart with our FPs I think we will be able to do all if not even MORE!

I am SO looking forward to those 4's!!!!!:cool1: UG better be right.

MK...I miss it so. We missed Philharmagic last time because of the refurb too. I'm really looking forward to it this time.

Whew! I've gone back and am all caught up now. It sounds like you guys have a plan......not so sure I'd be able to keep up since you're going to be up at the crack of dawn every morning. Looking forward to more!

Yes! It is the 4 Parks, One World CD set! They are so amazing! I don't ever get tired of listening to the music! It's wonderful! You definitely should get them - totally worth the $$$! :thumbsup2

I am so totally excited about seeing this one! Not quite sure how the girls will do though! They are super enthralled with 3-D stuff! I guess they can just take their glasses off if they don't like it? :)

Hey Lisa! :) Glad you are all caught up! :thumbsup2

Our girls are pretty much considered early risers and truly DO NOT know the meaning of "Sleeping IN" Last year, on the 1 day we actually tried to sleep in, they were awake and ready to go by 8am! :scared1: I think they are just a bit like me though - when I have somewhere exciting to be, I can't sleep in either! ;)

I totally think that you can accomplish that list in one day. I think we rode all of those rides in 2-3 hours back in June and June was MILES busier than Jan. We used our FP's very wisely (if you don't hit up Peter Pan within 15 of the park being opened, FP is a must!) and we didn't really rush around either. Can't wait to read more!

Hey Meghan!

I really hope that we will be able to do it all! :woohoo: I would really like to get as much accomplished WITHOUT RUSHING so we can have a more relaxed day later in the afternoon! :thumbsup2 My commando husband wants to stay and play ALL DAY!!! I think that I have created a monster!

This week is a mite bit nutty what with Ken and Emily involved in our Church's Christmas Dinner Theatre Production of "A Christmas Carol" (yes, the one by Charles Dickens!) Tonite is their Tech rehearsal,, tomorrow is Dress Rehearsal, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are shows and then NEXT Th-Sat are shows again! :faint:

I will post the next chapter but Ken will probably not be able to comment or do any of his fancy maps until Maybe Saturday morning! :) Please Stay Tuned! :thumbsup2

Great PTR! :thumbsup2 It's so cool that you and your DH are doing one together!

Your plans look great and I am so glad the airfare thing got straightened out and you have those vouchers to use for next time! :cool1:

Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday! :thumbsup2

Hey Kim and Ken!

All caught up (at last). Taking a week off from the boards is a lot of work! :)

The planning looks great and I LOVE the google maps. Will have to make some of my own one of these days, perhaps to track our progress after our trip.

My planning has been stymied by the fact that I lent out my PassPorter and ALL my planning info is inside of it :scared1: Must get that back so I can further agonize over and tweak my ADRs...

Hey Cheryl! :goodvibes

Good to hear from you! Glad you are feeling better! :) I lent out my books too! Just recently got them back. Hope your planning is going well! I am kind of stumped on what to do next! I guess perhaps I should just focus on this PTR huh? :thumbsup2

Hey Folks! :goodvibes

Sorry I have been absent for a few days - things have been really nutso around here!

Ken and Emily are involved in the Dinner theatre that our church does EVERY Christmas and that is now only half completed! They have 3 more shows to do - this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. After that I will have Ken home for a couple days and then the Drama team starts to get ready for Christmas EVE!

I have been busy doing what I do around the house plus doing childcare, doctors appts grocery and Christmas shopping and trying to keep everybody somewhat healthy! ;)

I hope to do up the next Day's plan soon! Just waiting for Ken to do his take on the previous Day! He really wants to do a map for MK!! :) He said he will TRY to get to it tonite or tomorrow. The poor man is completely exhausted. He slept for 4 hrs yesterday - and that was AFTER having a good noghts sleep!

Hope everyone is doing well! :goodvibes

I loaned my books to a friend, got them back, planned more - but I didn't write anything in my passporter. Good thing, since I just passed them off to another friend! I am going to WDW WITHOUT it!! Aren't I brave? I am still bringing my cruise passporter though. I'm not as familiar with the cruise to leave my book behind. I've got my itinerary and all the info for WDW in my iPhone.

Kim - I know what you can do - pray that no one in my family gets sick and that the weather stays nice for our trip! Thanks! I want more PTR stuff from you and Ken - Hurry I'm leaving on Thursday and will want to read it all in the car!

I was another one of those people that had the CD in my hands and didn't get it. :headache: It is a definite purchase this time around! As long as it has Illuminations on it I'm happy. Does it have Epcot's Tapestry of Dreams on it?

I know what you mean. I haven't posted on my PTR much either. Just haven't found much time with the holidays and being a childcare provider certainly takes away from my DIS time. How many kids do you have? I used to just have 2 plus my own 2 and recently took on 2 more and it made a HUGE difference in my day. This is what I look like these days by 5:30pm :faint: and my house looks like this little fella :stitch2::stitch: had his way with it. I have never had a better job though! :cloud9:

You ARE brave! :thumbsup2 I think that this year I will just take my Journal and maybe my new 2010 passporter when I get it! Should be in stores in a week or so!

I have been praying for your Family AND Shawna's too! I will continue for the length of your trip until you are safely home! :) I can't believe you guys are leaving so soon! I am so excited for y'all! I can't wait to hear ALL about the trips from both of you! PLEASE take tonnes of pics! I don't know if I will ever have the fortune to get to WDW at Christmas so I will need to live vicariously through both of you! :worship:

No, it doesn't have Illuminations on it! In fact the only "non ride" music it has on it is the Epcot entrance Music and the "walking right down the middle of MAin St" song! Oh yeah and the "All Aboard" song from the WDW railroad.

I only have 1 little girl right now and after Christmas break I will just be doing after school stuff! I decided that I needed a break! Some time to focus on Me for a while! I have been doing childcare part time and full time since Natalie was 15 mos! It is time for a break! :cool1: I know what you mean about that pesky stitch though! It is all I can do to keep the toys picked up and put away each day! ;)

Well, I see that my darling husband has posted his next map so I best be of to take a look at it! :)
