A Northern Family's Southern Getaway -Take 2 Jan 2010 PTR Updated 1/15 SNACKS

ME? ;) Little ole ME? :confused3 Why, I would never..... :lmao: Let's just say that I can be extremely focused on what I want sometimes and good fortune to anybody who gets in between me and my goal! :rolleyes1

Feelin' a teensy bit under the weather right now so I truly hope to have the next day's plan up before too long! :goodvibes Please bear with me as I cough and sneeze and blow my nose and drink hot tea and eat through a bag of cough drops!

Trust me, it will be worth the wait! ;)
You say that with such sweet innocence it's almost believable! :lmao:

Hope you're feeling better. Hot tea is my favorite when I'm sick...well it's my favorite even when I'm not sick ;)
DAY 4 - Animal Kingdom/Downtown Disney

I don't think we will have such an early start on this day. ;) We should be able to sleep in a bit, say to around 7:30 or so! If we don't quite make RD for AK, I don't think our day will be ruined!

The plan for this day is first to get FPs for anybody that wants to ride EE. Definitely Ken, quite probably me, maybe Emily but, again, our little monkey Nat is just a teensy bit too short. She most definitely wouldn't ride it even if she was tall enough!

Next I think we will go over to Dinoland and try out Triceratops Spin. This was closed on our last trip. The refurb was only announced a week and a half before our trip. The girls were in the know by that point and were both pretty disappointed that this one would not be available to ride. Also, I think maybe, just maybe I will have a crack at Primevil Whirl this time! Perhaps Ken will want to ride Dinosaur! but I don't think he will convince any of us to ride with him!

Our FPs for EE may have opened by now so perhaps we will do that next. After an encounter with the Yeti, I think maybe we will go and procure some FPs for the Safari ride and then hop the Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and Conservation Station! We just did not have enough time to do this last trip. I think the girls will love it! They do love animals and trains and characters and are actually quite good at speaking to adults so I believe that they will very much enjoy the veterinary clinic!

When we arrive back in Africa I think we will head over to grab some lunch. The girls are begging for Pizzafari again but Ken and I really want to try Flame Tree BBQ. I think that Daddy + BBQ ribs is going to win this battle hands down! I guess it will also depend on the day too. I really am not one for eating outdoors so if it is a cold nasty day (heaven forbid) we may choose to eat inside where there is warmth!

After eating we will probably go have a turn on the safari and then try to catch the first afternoon showing of Festival of the Lion King! This is the ONLY show the girls have asked to see again! I don't balme them - I think it was my fave too!

At this point we will have pretty much done all that we came to do at AK. If the girls want to play at The Bone Yard for a bit that will be fine - Ken may want to try to catch another ride on EE! We will most likely try to leave the park BEFORE the parade starts! We saw it last time and enjoyed it just not super interested in seeing it again.

I think we will head back to POFQ for a bit and then catch the boat to DTD! We have an ADR @ 6:30 at Raglan Road. Ken and I are both quite excited about this one! We will probably shop around a bit before and after and let the girls play in the fountains a bit! I will definitely be making a trip to Goofy's Candy Co.! Also I read that their is a new shop opening soon - Little MissMatched! It's the 3 to a pir sock place that sells really funky socks! Gotta check that out!

We will all probably be pooped by then so back to the Resort we go to shovel ourselves into bed!

Here are some pics from our last trips to AK.....

up next: Day 5 - a full day at MK

Sleeping in til 7:30 :lmao: What no bus stop at 7:45????
I always say we're going to sleep in at Disney- it is vacation after all- but I always find myself up at the crack of dawn fake coughing or making little noises to *accidentally* wake my kids who then will wake my DH

We loved Festival of the Lion King too! Last trip was our first trip seeing it and it was much better than I thought it would be.

Little Mismatched is right up my alley!!!!! I love fun socks! It's the teacher in me I suppose. I have socks for almost every holiday and weird ones for in between- some have monkeys, some have rubber ducks in the tub, some have crazy stripes. I've collected quite a few over the years! I'm adding that store to my To Do List!

where is this MissMatched store? At DTD? I gotta check it out!!! Your day sounds great...we are still planning to skip AK...I keep asking in case I need to redo some planning...but they all keep saying skip it!

Love the AK plans! I think you guys are going to have a blast!!
If I don't talk to you before I leave for Disney on Saturday- I hope you have a great thanksgiving and I can't wait to hear more plans when I get back.
Barbara

Hope you had a fun trip and a great Holiday! :goodvibes We are up in Canada so we had our Thanksgiving about 5 weeks ago! mmmmmm, I can still remember the yummy turkey! :)

You say that with such sweet innocence it's almost believable! :lmao: That's Me! All sweetness and Innocence! ;)

Hope you're feeling better. Hot tea is my favorite when I'm sick...well it's my favorite even when I'm not sick ;)
I have not had a cup of coffee all week, I almost don't even miss it! I have been drinking so much tea we are nearly out! Good thing it's grocery day tomorrow!

I swear my children do not understand the concept of sleeping in! On some school days I seriously have to drag them out of bed but EVERY saturday morning they are up by 7am ready to roll! Our trip was no different! They were wide awake and ready to rock every morning by 7am! Even on the nights they had been up late! :confused3

We loved Festival of the Lion King too! Last trip was our first trip seeing it and it was much better than I thought it would be.
I know! It totally blew me away too! AWESOME show!

I will have to double check my source! I think I saw it on the last newsletter from AllEars! I am totally psyched about this store! I  fun socks!

I am starting to feel a bit better! Still have lots of ooey gooey grossness evacuating my head though! eeewwww!

Personally, I would probably skip AK too! Actually thought about doing it too! Ken REALLY wants to ride EE again...and again, though! I sincerely believe that the man could ride that ride ALL DAY long and be quite happy afterwards! :upsidedow

That's my honey! He is sooooooo funny! What a goofball! :rotfl2:

Here is the explanation - He gives me the camera and says "Take my picture hun" and proceeds to bend over and tie up his shoe. Being the somewhat occasional blonde that I am says "why do you want me to take a picture of you tying your shoelace?" Then I look through the lens and actually SEE the shot and just about drop the camera from laughing so hard! :rotfl:

Just double checked my information about the new store at DTD! Hee is the quote from the Nov 10 edition of news bites from AllEarsNet -

A new shop, LittleMissMatched, opened November 9 at Downtown Disney West Side in the spot that formerly housed Starabilia's. The shop sells colorful mismatched socks, gloves, pajamas, other clothing, bedding, and more.

DAY 4 - Animal Kingdom/Downtown Disney

I don't think we will have such an early start on this day. ;) We should be able to sleep in a bit, say to around 7:30 or so! If we don't quite make RD for AK, I don't think our day will be ruined!

No. It's not the sleeping in, it's the dragging around of the half awake kids. THAT is what holds us up. Our day is pretty safe from ruin unless Expedition Everest is closed.

The plan for this day is first to get FPs for anybody that wants to ride EE. Definitely Ken, quite probably me, maybe Emily but, again, our little monkey Nat is just a teensy bit too short. She most definitely wouldn't ride it even if she was tall enough!

I'm open for bets on Kim's second ride. I give 7:1 against. Beginning bet is $20.

Wasn't there a ride on a river that Emily REALLY wanted to go on, but was upset she missed? We need to fit that in.

Primevil Whirl was fun, although hard on the hips, lower back, and any exposed skin to the padding. Trying to stop the collective body mass of the people on the bench using 2 square inches of my leg == OW!

Dinosaur is a fun ride. By fun I mean freakin terrifying. I suffer recurring dreams of being pursued by a Tyrannosaur. The best part of the ride is the photo at the end. It's taken at a moment when half of the participants look like they either filled their shorts or received an unexpected prostate exam. The other half have their eyes closed. This year I will buy pictures of other people riding it.

I know nothing of Planet Watch or Conservation Station, but I promise not to bring forward contrary scientific studies on the rate and cause of climate change, nor cite 17th century ship logs that sound eerily familiar to current extreme weather conditions.

Unless I get bored.

Emily is a major fan of ribs too. And Kim.

I want the kids to enjoy the trip. We can do both. They do takeout at the BBQ right?

On another note, I think Flame Tree must have some other meaning, because I'm thinking of an alternative lifestyle Treebeard, and I KNOW that's not what WDW means.

After eating we will probably go have a turn on the safari and then try to catch the first afternoon showing of Festival of the Lion King! This is the ONLY show the girls have asked to see again! I don't balme them - I think it was my fave too!

Please balme me baby ;)

It was an amazing show. So active and creative. I wish the theater were only darker so I didn't judge so many other people on what they wore.

I'm realizing I'm not really a people person.

WHAT!?!?! No Parade? SIGH, ok. The parade was awesome and fun. Why do we want to go to this park late and leave early? Can't we just ride Expedition Everest like 10 times while people are all at the parade? Maximize efficiency woman!

I think we will head back to POFQ for a bit and then catch the boat to DTD! We have an ADR @ 6:30 at Raglan Road. Ken and I are both quite excited about this one! Irish is a distant succor to Scottish. They don't know how to make the most of an animal (food, musical instrument AND companion ;) ) but they do make decent beer.

We will also re-visit the lego and Star Wars shops, right? RIGHT!?

And the Candy. I will promise to think about running for 2 miles for each candy I get to eat at Goofy's Candy Company.

We will all probably be pooped by then so back to the Resort we go to shovel ourselves into bed!

Do I hear the theme from Jaws?

DSC02219.jpg

They liked the boneyard more than most of the rides.

LittleMissMatched is available at our local chapters, the items are really cute,
they also have an online store so you can see their items. I don't know if I can post the link? :confused3 (i.e. don;t want to get in trouble)

Really?! I will have to check THAT out the next time I am there! :cool1: Thanks for the tip Joanne! :thumbsup2 I have been to their website - it is just the name of the store with a dotcom on the end! ;) Pretty cool stuff! Their bedding intrigues me greatly! :)

btw Sheree - is your Avatar a picture from your cruise last year? I pictured you with longer hair! :goodvibes

Yes it is. I got tired of the dog, who looks a little like my dog, but not enough to keep around as an avatar!
I had long hair when I was little and it's gotten progressively shorter! I call this my "mom" hair. No fuss, no muss. Just throw some goop in it and go.

DAY 5 - ALL DAY AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM

This Day will again be an early start for us! ;) We have an 8:05am ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. When we asked the girls where they wanted to eat on this trip, they both shouted out at exactly the same time - "CRYSTAL PALACE" :) They were both more thanjust a little disappointed when I told them them that their beloved CP was going to be closed for refurb during our trip. :sad2:

So, for this trip CP will be replaced by LTT. The food sounds yummy and I am actually excited about the fact that it is served Family Style! I found it a little stressful to try to get over to the buffet while watching for characters! I really hope that we will be able to finish and be at the Fantasyland Rope Drop for 9am! :cool1:

Here is the list of what we hope to accomplish on this day at MK - anybody wanna make bets on how much we actually are able to accomplish? ;)

Dumbo
Peter Pan
Winnie the Pooh
Tea Cups
Mickey's Philharmagic (may skip if we did it on our first evening)
Carrousel
IASW
Haunted Mansion
Big Thunder Mountain
LUNCH - depending on how hungry we are we may share some CS (CHH)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Aladdin's Flying Carpets
Jungle Cruise
Swiss Family Treehouse
Enchanted Tiki Birds
Grab a snack
Find a seat for Parade
Watch Parade
Shop on Main St
Leave for POFQ

Once we arrive back at POFQ, assuming it is nice weather, I think we will all be ready for a swim! :thumbsup2 If it is NOT nice and sunny warm, perhaps we will do a tour of playgrounds at POFQ/POR! We have no further plans for the rest of the day so we will most likely just hang out and enjoy our resort!
We will probably eat at one or the other of the CS eateries at POFQ/POR! I will definitely be trying some Beignets this evening! mmmmm mmmmmm :cloud9:

Here are some of my fave pics from our days at MK this past January!
