A No Snooze Bar Christmas, Harry & Mickey are Waiting..it is done

I can feel your hubby's pain now. Before there was such a thing as Green and Orange, I rode this ride. Have vowed NEVER to try it again. It ruined the rest of the morning for me. I did find I felt better after a mild lunch, though. I spent a few moments lying on a bench myself.:rotfl:

Another one benched...I wonder how many people end up that way? :rotfl2:

I get queasy on the Green side, I cannot imagine trying the Orange side. I love the movie Nemo, however, I think the ride stinks.

The ride is pretty lame...so glad it was a walk on...

My dh and I rode Mission:Space before there were to sides and before they toned it down. We were both sick and haven't been on it since. Now dd7 wants to ride in November. DH will have no part of it, but I'll take her on the green side ONLY.

Thats your plan, good luck sticking to it...the things we do for our kids! :rotfl:

Hope your dh recovered quickly.

I'm so glad you were able to go a different way and still see Osbourne lights. Looks like some amazing pics w/o other people in the background.

How much do those make your own light sabers cost? I know my oldest DS will be wanting one in Dec.

I think they were around $20...each piece you add on costs...

Oh wow, big toys! Do you have a large garage?

No big garage but Jeff has his grandfathers business property which has a large garage on it where we store the big toys. Right now one of the Hudsons is going to be used for parts and it outside while the one they are restoring is at a friends shop where they are working at getting it running...

That's great that Boo was able to demonstrate his leadership abilities at WDW. He must have really enjoyed WDW.

He loved WDW and really wants to go back to the WS...

At least Jeff tried it once and knows it's definately not for him.

He should have learned from Forbidden Journey!

Sounds like the tanks all needed some cleaning when you were there at the Living Seas.

Everything seemed shades of green, yellow, and blue...no color!

That's such a shame about Turtle Talk. I have seen that mass chaos on the floor a couple times, but the majority of times we've seen it, the children have been well behaved. Where we have problems is after the show. It's mass chaos as the children find their parents, the doors are opened and people are leaving. Anakin almost left the theater once without us. He just followed everyone else. Dh and I having the eagle eyes we do, were able to keep an eye on him. Dh couldn't get through, but since I'm small it was easy to squeeze between people and get to him quickly to stop his exit. Had we been seated on the other side of the theater, he would have exited without us. After that I either sat with him on the floor or I sit on the benches closest to the exit. We have also waited to be first for a next show, so that he can sit on a front bench with us.

My boys have learned that when we are in a mass of people we are going to be the last ones out, so just stay put.

I can't wait to find out what you used your FP for.

First :woohoo: on getting in to the Osborne Lights show! I was so disappointed in your update when you were stopped!

Me too, I was sick to my stomach!

The picture of your family in front the Peace on Earth area is spectacular. Most of the time when I have seen these pictures, either the lights, or everyones faces, are blurry.

I also like the end of the photo at the hat with the lighted sabers. We have a couple of those. They now play a part in the finale shows for the theatre group my youngest son is in. We have used them in the finale of Robin Hood and Bye Bye Birdie.

Ah, Mission Space Orange (which for obvious reasons, I am convinced should actually be called Green  )

One of my favorite memories from our 2010 trip is from M:S. My DH has always wanted to ride it, but I can't do spinny and my oldest son has a sensitive stomach. So 9 year old Ben rode with him. Ben had a huge grin coming off the ride

"I puked. 3 times!"

Yes, the bags are real!

So glad that there are other people that have tested the bags out! :rotfl2:

I vote for Canada and drinking bottles of Maple Syrup. :rotfl2: If you want to know what that is about look up the WDW Today podcast episode titles Sip, Snack and Sick around the world.

Please bear with me while I do some NTR rambling...

Here I sit when I really should get next week's trip planned and ready to go...plus all the work I need to get done for work. But I feel so unmotivated.

I am meeting my mom next Tuesday at Mesa Verde National Park with the kids for a couple of days of site seeing and grandma time, but I am so unmotivated to even plan out a schedule, packing list, and grocery list. It is about a 10 hour drive, which I am going to break up with an overnight stay at our cabin in NM (about 1/2 way point).

I have a huge staff development coming up that I am presenting, but my partner is out of town this week and me next week, then I have staff development for my position the following week...and then the next week bang our training...plus the following week I am doing a training for Goo's teachers, then it is staff development time for my staff at school when they return and our new prinicpal has yet to tell me what he wants presented at this time. I am starting to really feel stressed, but I am unmotivated to do anything about it...I see lots of sleepless nights in my future.

I applied for a new position last week and I have not heard whether I got it or not...I am assuming not. Which in the long run is really the best thing...the new position is lots more hours and lots more days then what I am currently working let along a lot more work. I really have it good where I am at and what I am doing, plus it is good for my family but I can't seem to feel disappointed that I did not get it.

I am sorry I have not been around much. Sounds like you could have used a bit of a

I hope your trip next week turns out to be fun.

And...your TR... I was ONLY 5 pages behind. :rotfl2:

So to comment...

Your meal at Sci Fi... you shared with Ab? Did you use one dp credit? I too love the burgers and eat way to many of them.

Lighting McQueen... at the meet and greet, did he and Mater actually drive up? Or are they fixtures? In DCA, they drive up.... The picture with Lighting is so cute. You can really tell he adores him.

Your butterfinger cupcake... I have had one and really liked it. I think that sometimes things are hit or miss. Things I have once had and had them be really good seemed to not be as good in December. I wonder if the crowds impact the quality of the food since they are making them so quick?

LMA with mcqueen... I bet that was super cute. We missed it and I regret it. Not being into Cars you would think it wouldn't bother me to miss it, but I LOVE Disney shows..any and all. :thumbsup2

Fantasmic.... I have felt the same way you did when I saw it while shivering. It didn't seem so nice. When it was nice and warm out and we got good seats, it made all the difference in the world. Course, as my above statement reads... I do love any and all Disney shows, so it is hard to totally disappoint me. I can't believe it was so empty though! We have shown up early and had it be packed... packed, packed... like a sea of people.

Osbourne Family Lights... I am SOOO glad you got to see them and all to yourself? I am totally jealous now. It is the one thing about the holiday time that makes me want to consider going back during that time. It would have to be solo though since dh isn't into that sort of thing and practically had to drag me out the moment we stepped onto the street.

MIssion space...OH NO!!! Orange side?!? I am sorry it made Jeff feel so crummy. :(

Living with the Land is a favorite of ours... but the Circle of life? Seriously? Disney practically pumps ac right into the outdoors when it is hot and the shops have their doors open (but not on days like you had, Tammie... :scared1::scared1: It was C -O -L -D when you were there) Seems odd to preach about how we are all so horrible destroying the planet when WDW itself does its fair share of damage... I mean.. food alone that goes to waste at WDW could feed a small country.

Ok, now that I am caught up... I can't wait to read more and find out how the rest of your trip went!!!

Nachos and School Bread washed down by a Margarita

So the question we had to ask ourselves was Canada or Mexico, well anyone who has done some studying of snacking in Epcot knows that Canada does not have much of anything to eat and we have already visited there on our first day in Epcot, so that makes Mexico the choice.

1mexico.jpg

2hats.jpg

Our first stop inside the Aztec Pyramid had to be the bathroom and while we waited around we explored the market carts before heading off to the Grand Fiesta Tour.

3cabs.jpg

3cabsbridge.jpg

Thank goodness we had watched the Three Caballeros back in May prior to our trip, I thought I would get a lot of groans with this ride but the kids loved it so much we ended up taking a second tour since the line was so short. After the ride Jeff and I stepped into La Cava del Tequilato for a premium margarita, I got a blood orange one,

4bar.jpg

4marg.jpg

while Ab and Goo sought out the Kidcot Station and an autograph. We left the pyramid and crossed the way to the Taqueria Del Lago where while my family found a table I ordered a round of nachos, gac and chips, churros, and some Mexican soda for our first snack from around the world.

5food.jpg

5soda.jpg

All the food was a hit (of course it is hard to mess up these things). Goo got the bright idea that he would try my margarita, and I got even better face with it then I did the Beverly.

5face.jpg

After our snack it was time to move on to our next country,

1stave.jpg

Norway where we began the adventure with Maelstrom (which did not get the same reaction as the Gran Fiesta Tour)

1maelstrom.jpg

1hiddenmickey.jpg

and then into the gift shop along with a stop at the KidCot Station and another autograph.

1hat.jpg

Ab decided in Norway that she was going to pick up a small treat in each country for her friends at home. We then decided to check out the Stave Church, which the boys loved thanks to reading the book How to Tame a Dragon.

1boat-1.jpg

Jeff had already spotted Kringla Bakeri and was ready for a treat. So again, I sent them off to find a table, ordered, and joined them with…a sweet pretzel, School Bread, rice crème and a cloudberry horn (Jeff has a huge sweet tooth).

1food.jpg

Our favorite by far was the sweet pretzel and the rice crème; we found the cloudberry horn and the school bread to be really dry, while the pretzel had way too much chocolate. Sweet tooth satisfied, next comes China…

I vote for Canada and drinking bottles of Maple Syrup. :rotfl2: If you want to know what that is about look up the WDW Today podcast episode titles Sip, Snack and Sick around the world.

Not much of a cliff hanger, was it? I think Canada really needs to get a food for us foodies that want to snack around the world. I am going to have to go and listen to that podcast...the sick part intriques me! :rotfl2:

I am sorry I have not been around much. Sounds like you could have used a bit of a

I just dont understand why I am so unmotivated and I am letting things pile up and not do anything about them. Thanks.

I hope your trip next week turns out to be fun.

I am going with my mother...not much fun, but we are going to a place I want the kids to see.

And...your TR... I was ONLY 5 pages behind. :rotfl2:

Not too bad...I am really trying to get this TR wrapped up. I just am running out of steam with it.

So to comment...

Your meal at Sci Fi... you shared with Ab? Did you use one dp credit? I too love the burgers and eat way to many of them.

Yep, she and I shared the meal and 1 credit...we ended up doing that a lot she is not a big eater and I dont need to eat that much. That way if Boo wanted an adult meal he could get it.

Lighting McQueen... at the meet and greet, did he and Mater actually drive up? Or are they fixtures? In DCA, they drive up.... The picture with Lighting is so cute. You can really tell he adores him.

No, they are fixtures...driving up would be so cool. I was thinking of a March trip but now I am thinking it will have to be summer.

Your butterfinger cupcake... I have had one and really liked it. I think that sometimes things are hit or miss. Things I have once had and had them be really good seemed to not be as good in December. I wonder if the crowds impact the quality of the food since they are making them so quick?

This one seemed to be almost like it was left from the day before...I am sure you can con me into getting another one!

We have shown up early and had it be packed... packed, packed... like a sea of people.

I was shocked that the stadium did not fill up even at the start of the show...I guess the cold was winning out.

I could have stayed there forever, or until I froze in place...which I was getting close too.

MIssion space...OH NO!!! Orange side?!? I am sorry it made Jeff feel so crummy. :(

Did I mess up with my colors...yes, he did the orange side with Ab and Boo...it was his own fault, I warned him.

I really hate when I get preached at over environmental issues...I feel like I respect the planet and do my part, but dont give me a lecture and use Simba, Timon and Pumba...we also skipped the one with Ellen...just not my thing.

Ok, now that I am caught up... I can't wait to read more and find out how the rest of your trip went!!!

Did not take you long to catch up! :lmao: We have been to quiet lately on facebook. I miss you ladies so much! Only 14 more months!

poor Jeff being sick after the ride!
I loled at the pic of Goo holding his nose at the sting-rays!

Love the pic where everyone is in hats, gloves and warm coats but can still eat Mickey Bars! :thumbsup2

Some day I want to snack around the world. I tried the school bread last year because the frumps are always raving about it. I thought it was ok.. I'll leave momma's reaction to the trip report :lmao:

I agree about Canada it needs something other then the store for food, it should have a Tim Hortons in it.

As for the sick part of the show, it is funny. You can find the episode here http://www.wdwtoday.com/article.php?story=20080526082406540

That was the Plan Anyway

1china.jpg

1chinapond.jpg

1china2.jpg

Our tummies are pretty full with just 2 stops, so in China we spend time exploring the artifacts which the kids find amazing. Boo keeps referring back to a Magic Treehouse book that he had read when he was younger and to one of the Mummy movies that centers around the Chinese solider display before us.

1chinawarriors.jpg

1chinaquote.jpg

We then went and watched the movie on China before making our way into the gift shop and again finding the Kidcot station.

1chinakidcot.jpg

1chinahat.jpg

Goo by this time is hooked on the stations and can’t wait to see what his name looks like in Chinese. I have to say, I really like the little Duffy Fan for the Kidcot stations then all those little cut-outs they used to have. Afterwards, in the Lotus Blossom Café I pick up an order of pot stickers, egg rolls, a glass of plum wine and a container of red bean ice cream for us to sample.

1chinasnack.jpg

The plum wine was not very good, the pot stickers and eggs rolls were standard Chinese buffet, but we all enjoyed the taste of the ice cream…thank goodness Italy and Germany are up next and we have already eaten and toured these countries so we are just hitting the hats and Kidcot Stations.

1italyhat.jpg

Well, that was the plan anyway until smells of caramel hit me and I had to go in for a treat…

1carmael.jpg

After Germany I noticed that it was time for Marie’s appearance in France, along with time to do the Kim Possible Mission in Germany…so I left Jeff with the boys to complete the mission while I took Ab to meet her favorite cat with the plan to be to meet back in Japan. That was the plan anyway…

poor Jeff being sick after the ride!

He does not like smells...I have tons of pictures of him holding his nose...:rotfl2:

Love the pic where everyone is in hats, gloves and warm coats but can still eat Mickey Bars! :thumbsup2

Mickey Bars for breakfast...that is my motto!

Some day I want to snack around the world. I tried the school bread last year because the frumps are always raving about it. I thought it was ok.. I'll leave momma's reaction to the trip report :lmao:

I am not impressed with the school bread either...it is way too dry for my taste. I think they ended up changing the recipe in order to make it mass produced because of the popularity and then ruined it. I have seen pictures of the the orginal and it looks amazing!

I agree about Canada it needs something other then the store for food, it should have a Tim Hortons in it.

What is a Tim Horton's? I read they used have these things called beaver tails...wish they would bring them back.

As for the sick part of the show, it is funny. You can find the episode here http://www.wdwtoday.com/article.php?story=20080526082406540

Thanks...more to side track me from the work I need to get done...:rotfl2:

I have been really wondering how I will get to try one of those margaritas when I have dd in tow. Did you just pop in and then take it with you?

Love the picture of Goo after he has tried a sip.:rotfl2:

The sweet pretzel is a favorite of mine, but I usually get the white frosted kind..not the one with chocolate. Rice cream is amazing too... but.. Ok, so I love EVERYTHING you had from Norway.

I agree with you on being preached too.. but the Ellen ride is one of my favorites in Epcot. I know it is strange. However, if it is hot or cold outside...that long ride is perfect to get cool or warmed. And maybe even nod off a bit since it is a 45 minute ride.:rolleyes1

I think when dinning around the world... China is a hard one for me. I just do not like the qs location. I tried an apple egg roll a couple trips back and it was gross. This last time though, I was able to get a sample of the blended drink out at the tea booth (sorry forget what it is called) I counted that as the snack there as it was so sweet and strong, who would want a whole glass?

Canada too is hard... we got some maple sugar..but really I would have liked to have something a little bit “more”. I guess during food and wine it is easier to get a sample of the soup at LC. I have read of people walking up without a reservation just to get the soup to go. I was not about to try it though...

Yep, we popped in and ordered and then took it with us. Done this both times I have gone in there. I think Goo came in with us and the other 2 shopped...or maybe Ab had Good with her?

Love the picture of Goo after he has tried a sip.:rotfl2:

Better reaction then his Beverly. If the kids ask for a drink of something, I am inclined to let them have a sip. I dont think alcohol should be made into this mysterious thing or no-no that is how you get underage secret drinkers. I am not a huge drinker...I go months without having anything. The only time I tend to drink is when I am on vacation somewhere different.

I like the sleep idea! I just cant see wait time and ride time...wasting that much time in Epcot. There are so many other things I want to do!

Nothing special...I thought about those mixed drinks too with the tea, but it was out of our way when it was snack time.

I want to put Le Cellier on my lunch list...potato soup, pretzel bread, and chocolate mousee...I don't think I would try either. I had thought about trying that at Brown Derby for the grapefruit cake.

I am falling sooooooo behind on commenting on the TR I am following. I have been reading though and am loving it. Love the Italia hat. I am going to have to get that when I go.

Did you see that for 2013 LC at lunch is now a signature 2 credit meal? Honestly, after my last experience there I would not be going back for even a single credit. I LOVE the soup and pretzel bread, but everything else was inedible. The restaurant itself is just meh... If I have a "signature" experience it needs to be and EXPERIENCE I suspect that they changed lunch because so many people were booking for lunch times after dinner became a sig. I think what disney failed to realize was that it isn't that people love lunch so much but rather than they want to dine there for the use of only one credit. I bet (and I could be wrong) that just as all of a sudden dinner ADRs became easy to get and lunch was hard... lunch in 2013 will also be easy to get because not as many people will be scrambling to get those ADRs

How about a 2nd update for today...

Sun Sets Quickly and Here Comes the Cold

Ab and headed to France and left the boys back in Germany to complete the KimPossible Mission. I have to say I was disappointed that we would not be doing it, but I knew that Ab wanted to see Marie. When we arrived in France there was already a line formed for Marie but it looked like it was moving fairly quickly so we really did not have anything to worry about. I thought for a few minutes about going and getting a Grand Marnier slushie, but it was frankly too cold out for a frozen drink. Ab made her way to Marie, where she was greeted with a great big hug and a blush/point at Ab shirt by Marie.

marie-1.jpg

We took our pictures and then went back to meet the boys. I knew we had a few minutes till they would be joining us, so I tried to get Ab to go into Japan and pick a pearl…can you believe that she was not in the slightest interested in a piece of jewelry? I left her looking for a treat for her friends in the gift shop and went out to pick up a Kaki Gori Rainbow for the boys…too cold for me, but I knew the boys would love it. Just as I got the snack for Japan the boys arrived from their completed mission and were eager to share all the things they found…I wish we had more time for another one, it sounded like they had a ton of fun. At this point, I try to lure my family back to America for the show, but again they were not interested but Boo pointed out that we had not gotten a snack from America, how about a turkey leg was his suggestion in the same breath. So as Goo finished off the Kaki Gori

1snack.jpg

1kidcot.jpg

and went to the KidCot Station, Boo went and got a turkey leg for all of us to share.

turkeyleg.jpg

I am not a huge fan of gnawing on a bone, but again the boys were into it. So we continued to sit on the steps of the Japanese Pagoda

1sunsetting.jpg

and enjoyed the time of just sitting, although by the time the boys finished it was starting to get colder. Our next stop was Morroco

1indoorway.jpg

for a little shopping, Kidcot and some baklava, but when we arrived at the counter…they were out. So much for eating in Morocco. By this time, we were all pretty full I knew in a couple of hours it would be time for dinner so it was really that we skipped Morroco, and of course France with both Crepes des Chefs de France and Boulangerie Patisserie. But when we arrived in France, I really did not want to think about anything but some warmth so into the gift shop we went which just happened to be where the Kidcot station was.

1francehats.jpg

1kidcotinfrance.jpg

We found an empty table and after a few minutes of getting warm, I decided that I would go pick up some pastries at Boulangerie Patisserie for breakfast tomorrow, but when I got there…

I am falling sooooooo behind on commenting on the TR I am following. I have been reading though and am loving it. Love the Italia hat. I am going to have to get that when I go.

It is not over, so you have time to catch up...notice a PTR on your signature.... I am already headed over there!

Seeing Red in the UK

When I left the warmth of the gift shop in France I never expected to find the line fo Boulangerie Patisserie out the door and around the corner in France. I watched the line for a few moments and decided that it was not moving, so there was no way I was standing out in the cold even for those pastries I had been dreaming of. Defeated I joined the family back in the warmth of the gift shop, we had a little over an hour until dinner and I knew we just could not sit there. So I got the troops moving and we headed across the bridge into UK

1acrossbridge.jpg

where we walked on through for Canada and a KidCot Stop for Goo.

CanadaatNight.jpg

Canada took a whole 10 minutes to do, so we went back to the UK and toured the shops (Boo bought some Beatles things and I contemplated a Princess Diana scarf)

1hats.jpg

where Jeff found a pair of overstuffed chairs up in a balcony window and sat down while we let Goo color to his hearts content his Duffy Bear that was now complete with each country represented!

1colorduffy.jpg

1duffy.jpg

When it was time to check in for dinner I left the family in the warmth of the shop and picked up the pager. I noticed that the patio area of the Rose & Crown was enclosed in and they had heat lamps going, so I went ahead a requested to be seated out there. The wait was going to be about 15 minutes, but I was reassured that our pager would work back across the way. By the time it took me to walk across the street the pager was already going off, so I gathered my family and to dinner we went and were seated, inside when I had requested patio seating and just as we were being seated (at this point I really did not care where we were sitting) the server made note of the error and sent us back out to the check in podium in the cold for 10 minutes. I tried to tell him that it did not matter, but I think he was trying to make it special for us and honor my request. Once seated on the patio, all we saw was red…

1seeingred.jpg

1redapp.jpg

1mikceybutter.jpg

everything had a reddish glow thanks to the heat lamps and did they work, by the time the first course arrived we had peeled our layers and were about to go down to t-shirts it was so HOT! For our first course we ordered 2 Silton Salads (which happens to be my favorite salad in all of WDW)

1salad.jpg

1cheese.jpg

and a cheese tray (which was interesting…I think the kids like the candied nuts more than the cheese). For dinner Jeff ordered Grilled Tenderloin (which according to him was not very British because it had seasoning and was not bland) and Fried Fish and the rest of us had fish and chips (which I adore).

1jeffdinner.jpg

1fish-1.jpg

Just as we were finishing our main course the lights dimmed for Illuminations and the CMs opened up the patio screening for us to view the fireworks…I have to tell you that the cold air by this time felt lovely. We did stay at our table, instead we opted to go down to the edge of the water and watch the show. I purposely booked R&C just for the fact of not having to camp out for a spot to watch Illuminations. After seeing Illuminations from our balcony for several nights, was a treat to see it from this point of view.

epcotillumglobe.jpg

epcotillumfountainsred.jpg

epcotillumfountain.jpg

epcotillumfireworks.jpg

epcotillumfinal.jpg

When the show was over returned to our table for dessert Boo ordered the cheesecake, Goo had a sundae and the rest of us had Sticky Toffee Pudding…yummy!

1puddine.jpg

1goodessert.jpg

1cheesecake.jpg

Then it was back to the BW for a good nights sleep, because tomorrow morning is EMH at MK…will we make it to Rope Drop?
