A No Snooze Bar Christmas, Harry & Mickey are Waiting..it is done

Amazing pictures of the boys with the Cars characters! So glad you took your own shots.

That first picture is a definite keeper and I'm guessing you will have that framed.

I had photopass pictures lost on a previous trip (in front of the guitar at RNR- I have never seen a photographer there since) and I didn't ask them to take a picture with my camera that time. :(

We love the Backlot tour, especially my youngest son.

We have seen the LMA show a couple of times in August and July.

HOT!!!

This may be one place where the temperature being cooler paid off for you, but I don't like the sound of how it is going to be later.

How fun for Goo! So glad you took those extra pictures too. whew!

My boys liked the stunt show alot too but it was pretty toasty up there with the sun beating down on us.
oh and that hat looks good on Jeff:thumbsup2 sort of the manly man look. Too bad the price was outrageous!

aw the excitement in his little face at meeting McQueen is to cute..

Meal Lost in Space or Captured by Aliens?

After watching Lightning in Lights, Motor, Action it was time to head for the lunch that I had planned, at Sci Fi Diner.

1scifisign.jpg

We love to go to the drive in during the summer and the boys love all things aliens, so I thought this would be a good choice. While I checked in, I sent Ab to pick up FP for Star Tours so we could do that after lunch. I knew I could not send Boo with her or he would not be seen again. Checking in was a little bit of a struggle because instead of waiting outside to be called for seating everyone was inside trying to stay out of the cold, plus once again I am amazed how many people do not understand the need at WDW to make ADRs in advance and then how many people get mad and upset when they can’t get a reservation because the restaurant is booked for the day.

1scifiposter.jpg

It took about 20 minutes to get seated, which is not a problem because I am too cold to be grumpy and it feels heavenly to be inside. We are seated in a 3 seat car, which really made it tough to share with each other or have a conversation…but then again this place is loud and dark, that’s the point right? So Jeff and Goo are in front, Ab and I are in the middle, and Boo is in the back seat.

2scifiseating.jpg

After deciding on what to eat and Todd taking our order the boys have a great time watching the movie clips,

2scifimovie.jpg

2gooenjoyingmovie.jpg

while Jeff is being a grumpy gus about the whole experience. Looking at my watch I figure we easily make the next show of Indiana Jones as well as experience Star Tours before we need to make our way to F! seating. Was I ever mistaken on that part. It took almost an hour after taking our order until we finally got our meals.

3burger.jpg

3cherrycoke.jpg

Ab and I split an order of Buffalo Chicken Potato skins and an All American Picnic Cheeseburger, both of the boys had hamburgers. Jeff had the Angus Burger and onion rings. (We like our burgers in my family…in fact a good burger is my favorite meal). And of course we all had to have cherry vanilla cokes. I am not sure what was going on with the kitchen, but I could tell everyone around us was having the same issues and before I know it there is no way we will be seeing Indy today (thank goodness I had another day at DHS scheduled for later in the week). So as we waited for dessert to arrive, I tried my best not to do the touring plan pout and reworked the late afternoon plan. For dessert Ab and I split the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake,

3ourdessert.jpg

while Jeff got the Red Velvet Cheesecake…and Todd exchanged Boo’s kid dessert for an adult Red Velvet Cheesecake.

3dessertboo.jpg

The food was quite good, but the service (not Todd’s fault) was awful and though the atmosphere is fun for the first 15 minutes…sitting in the dark not being able to see your food or have a convseration was not for our family. With a new touring plan in place we left Sci Fi Diner and rounded the corner in what I hoped would lift the grumpiness of the meal, the cold, and the touring plan pout that had set in on my attitude…a little time with the Muppets, a childhood favorite.

We all enjoyed the show, and yes once again being out of the cold. Next up it was time to use those Fast Passes, along with making 2 of my worst decisions of the entire trip that I am blaming partly on the cold!

Love the update! His eyes with McQueen, priceless!

I have to agree...there is a certain twinkle!

Amazing pictures of the boys with the Cars characters! So glad you took your own shots.

Me too, these were VERY important pictures to me.

That first picture is a definite keeper and I'm guessing you will have that framed.

I had photopass pictures lost on a previous trip (in front of the guitar at RNR- I have never seen a photographer there since) and I didn't ask them to take a picture with my camera that time. :(

I took my own pictures and had them take pictures too, thinking of capturing as many angles as I could!

We love the Backlot tour, especially my youngest son.

We have seen the LMA show a couple of times in August and July.

HOT!!!

At least the sun was shining directly in the stadium so that helped with the cold!

This may be one place where the temperature being cooler paid off for you, but I don't like the sound of how it is going to be later.

How fun for Goo! So glad you took those extra pictures too. whew!

I know....

My boys liked the stunt show alot too but it was pretty toasty up there with the sun beating down on us.

Jeff is a total hat person...

Love the Lightening shots! You can see Goo's excitement.

aw the excitement in his little face at meeting McQueen is to cute..

Boo prior to my first trip kept telling Goo that Lightning was not real...:( so I made it a point to text Goo a picture while I was there of Lightning to prove to Goo that he was real.

I am working on a spring break trip to CARSland...if I can get the budget to work out and no unexpected bills/expenses....:rolleyes1

I don't think I'll ever book SciFi b/c of the two things you mentioned. 1. I don't like to eat in the dark! and 2. I wanna talk to my group!! LOL

I agree with you on Sci-Fi. The boys and I went. They had a blast but they had all three of us sit in one seat. We couldn't move. And the thing was, it wasn't that crowded. They could have easily let me sit behind them but for some reason I wasn't allowed. I guess since it was during SWW, they thought it might get busy. It never did, due to the rain. We enjoyed it but I don't think we would eat there again.

worst decisions uh oh that doesn't sound to good.

F!, Not Worth Sitting in the Cold For

After laughing along with the Muppets the Fast Passes were finally ready for Star Tours. I had actually planned to do Star Tours on Friday when we revisited DHS, but with the slow meal service at Sci Fi, I rearranged much to the delight of the boys. I am dating myself, but I remember seeing the original Star Wars when it came out, it did not impress me then nor does it impress me now…must be a boy thing.

2insideride-1.jpg

So on we went and the boys loved it, but not as much as they loved the gift shop. I had been fighting with Goo all week to save his money and not buy a light saber and I am glad I keep my foot firmly planted and my grip on his wallet, because in the gift shop the boys found…

3lightsaber-1.jpg

Yep, make your own light saber and it must have been the cold because I agreed to this silliness that is still making me crazy today. Boo and Goo got to work building their own custom saber while the rest of us enjoyed the warmth of the gift shop.

Looking at the time, I knew it was best to depart for F! and get seats. I had read for months about how the 6ish show is always packed and you must get a seat at least 1-1 ½ hours ahead of time. My next big mistake, listening to that advice! We made our way to the stadium along with other misguided forum readers, with my husband wanting to know why so early? My response was just wait 15 minutes, well 15 minutes passed and till the stadium looked deserted?

1waiting.jpg

1waitingabandjo.jpg

Are you sure you got the time right? 30 minutes pass (30 minutes to show time) and the stadium is still empty…the only thing that is happening is the sun is setting lower and our teeth are chattering. I am so tempted to buy a $40 thin blanket that they are selling behind us but hold out because not only was the price crazy and the blanket paper thin, none of the Disney patterns were very cute. By show time, there are still plenty of good seats to be found everywhere I am dealing with a family who is frozen and mad that they have sat now for 60 minutes when they could be riding. I promise them as the lights dim and F! begins that it will be worth it…

2mirror.jpg

2mickey.jpg

but when the show ended, I had to agree with my family that we did not understand the hype surrounding the show. Okay, maybe our brains were frozen along with the rest of our bodies but F! is so not on my do over list! So with all extremities frozen, it is time to use up our 2 sets of Fast Passes, right?

I think it was a great place to eat once, but not on my list to do over...

worst decisions uh oh that doesn't sound to good.

Lets just blame it on the cold and being an OCD planner!

:rotfl2:I'm with Goo about wanting to be bigger before I ride ToT again!
I haven't heard very many good reviews about Sci-Fi, so i think I will avoid it for now. :scared:
I adore Fantasmic, but sitting for an hour in the cold :cold:? I don't know maybe not.:rotfl:

It sucks that it was so cold and you waited so long. I think it's an enjoyable show if you're not miserable when you're watching it.

At least your DS likes cars still my DN7 tells me cars and Disney are for babies and only football and legos are cool now! :scared::sad: It's ok though he has a brother who is only 1 and a half maybe I can instill a love of Disney in him :confused3

Lets just blame it on the cold and being an OCD planner!

I probably would have done the same with the going early in fairness.

While I completely agree with you on Sci fi, it being dark and unable to talk to anyone, my family loves it. It is a must do for them on every trip. This past trip I didn't book it and almost got in big trouble with my family. We happened to be at MK eating at Cosmic Rays and dh mentioned that he couldn't wait for Sci fi the next day and I said I didn't book it and everyone flipped out on me! I pulled out my phone and pulled up Mobile Magic and was able to get a lunch ADR booked for the next day. I was shocked it was availble! But happy to please my family!

Not only do I think its dark and after you've seen the videos once its boring. I also don't find the food to be great, the burgers are just ok and I don't care for anything else on the menu. I think thats my biggest turn off is the food there.

DHS Touring Plan Ended Because of a Mouse and a Husband?

We head directly out of the stadium for RNRC, only to find that the child swap line is outside along with a huge fast pass return time.

DSC04485.jpg

Everyone agrees, this is not the ride tonight and we hand our FP spreading a little magic to someone elses night! Next up we decide to head to TSM, but before we get there Jeff spots

1onemansign.jpg

1mouseandman.jpg

Which Tink’s husband and son tell him it is not to be missed, I try to explain to him that I have it scheduled for Friday, but he feels the warmth from inside luring him and the kids in…so much for a plan. We spend some time looking at the displays before the movie…I have to say that I which that I would have had longer to look and the movie was really good about the man himself. Afterwards, Jeff catches the CM manning the movie and begins asking her 100 questions….while I am trying to drag him out of there to accomplish my last 2 things for the night TSM and Osborne Lights. Finally, he is somewhat happy with his new knowledge of Walt Disney and we make our way to TSM with our FP in hand…

2tsmwalkway.jpg

only thing is when we get there it is 8:01 pm and the park closed at 8:00 pm. Major sin, holding fast passes for TSM in hand and the park closed.

2fastpassesunused.jpg

Feeling disappointed, we make our way towards the Streets of America for Osborne Lights because everywhere I have read they are open after the park closes. I can hear the music and see the lights dancing, but a CM stops us and tells us the park is closed that we need to exit…

OMG what a bunch of bad luck at the end of the evening! Did you get to see Osbourne Lights at all?

Sorry to hear the Sci Fi meal was not a smashing success. This is pretty much where we have lunch when we go to HS (unless we are done with the studios and go over to EPCOT).

On our first trip, I think we were late for our ADR, and they said it would take us awhile to be seated unless we sat at a table instead of a car. We took that, and now we request a table.

Sitting in a car is a nice novelty for about 5 minutes, then as everyone has discovered, it is more fun being able to TALK to your family.

Bummer on the long, cold wait for F!

Is anyone ever really comfortable for that show?

The first time I saw it was in the July heat, really crowded stadium filled with chanting Tour Groups for an hour.

I also saw it (solo) in June, in the rain, after being soaked all night.

It is not my favorite night-time show.
