A Nightmare on Main Street! 10/12 PTR - Canceled 1/19

We've got a BLT Castle view booked for next May! :goodvibes

:cloud9::cloud9: OMG, please take pics for me! I oogle the ones on The DIS on a daily basis! You just can't get much more magical than that view!

Simba...when are you planning to go in 2013? We'll be there in the first week of October 2013.

Not sure yet...our anniversary is in November and Lumar thinks his company has a blackout period during the month of October (he works for Canine Fence and they do a lot of installations and repairs before the ground freezes), so we have to wait to see what the restrictions are on his vacation time and then we'll go from there. I'm HOPING to go in October again but we have to see what we can do with his work schedule.

Um, how did i miss this? And why did you not tell me I was missing it???

So congratulations on the DBF. I hope he makes the cut and gets to join you on the trip!! I also think that a trip w/o the family will be nice! I had been wanting to do a huge family trip for Jack's 5th, but I have since decided I like fall better we are doing Octoebr 2013 instead... with a 4 day on the Dream in the middle :goodvibes Of course this makes it hard to get extended family involved, but we'll see...

I am glad you have a firm trip in the works and things seem to be going well and I will be paying more close attention from now on!

:lmao: I'm not sure :) It happens, though.

Well... DBF and I broke up yesterday :guilty: It was amicable and mutual and we're still friends. We had different long-term goals (I want to be a wife and mom, he has no interest in marriage or kids). We're going to try and still be friends, though.

When in October '13 are you guys going? There's going to be a Dis gamers meet up in the first week :)

I'm glad I have a firm trip in the works, too. I wish it was sooner, though.

Awww, so sorry about you and DBF. :goodvibes But hey, at least your trip is less than a year away!

I'm sorry to hear it ended, but glad that it ended amicably! Plus it's good to know early on if your goals are different, rahter than just going along assuming one of you will change your mind!

Our cruise is October 20th, and we will go for a few days on either end! One of these days I want to get to Chicago though... I have never been :scared1:
I'm not sure how I have managed to not get there since I feel like I have been to most other big cities... but maybe this year!

Yeah, no kidding. It just wasn't going to work out in the long run, you know? I really do care about him, but I think we'll be better as friends than anything else.

Aww, you'll miss us by a few days! But hey, such is life :) If you ever come to Chicago, let me know and I'll take you and Jack for Chicago pizza :teeth:

But yes, my trip is less than a year away!

That's always good! :thumbsup2

Huh. I want to go back in the Fall next year. I really need to think about my Disney plans next year. Maybe I'll do a solo trip in the Fall. I really, really want to try a solo trip and see if I could survive! :scared1: :rotfl:

You should go at the same time as me! :teeth: That way, if you need company, there'll be someone around!

So, as some of you guys know, I've been trying to figure out what the heck I want to go back to college for, as I never finished. I graduated high school ten years ago this coming June (and wow, that sounds insane to say ) and still haven't finished college.

I started school with a major in English with a minor in secondary education (at least I think that's what it was, it may have been reversed). I changed to English with an emphasis in creative writing. Then I did my first CP and transferred schools. When I transferred, I changed my major to communications/mass media with an emphasis in journalism. I dropped out after a semester. I stayed out of school for four years, trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I bounced around between hospitality management, nursing, and culinary school. In January 2010, I enrolled in a local community college with the intention to go into nursing school. Thankfully, I'd become a CNA first, because I found that I hated the field. Still, I was going to stick out the semester and then go about taking general education classes. That didn't happen, because my boss changed my work schedule (which was a 3 or 4 day a week, 12 hour shift job as a CNA) to the point that I couldn't attend classes. I apparently didn't go through the drop procedure properly, because now I'd be considered on academic probation :confused3

Anyway, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the fact that I don't want to be stuck in dead end jobs for forever. I don't want to go into culinary because even though I adore baking, I don't want to chance my profession reducing my love of making things that people can satisfy their sweet cravings with. I definitely don't want to go into nursing, because I absolutely hated being a CNA. I'd like to go back into hospitality, but I can't afford to move and there's no public university in Chicago that offers a hospitality program. The only two schools that do are both overpriced private schools (one of which is a private Catholic college for women, which is so not happening).

So in a strange twist of fate, I find myself back at my starting point from, oh, ten years ago and have decided to go back to school in August 2012 to be a teacher. I have to start off at the community college I was at due to the academic probation crap, but after I get an AA, I can transfer to the four-year school down the street from my house and major in their secondary education program. They have an excellent curriculum for teaching, the campus is convenient to my house, and the tuition is extremely reasonable for a four-year state school.

So... Basically, unless something happens to push me back to January 2013, I may be changing my dates to coincide with the winter break. I'm not sure if I'd be able to take a week off or not in the middle of the semester, but I might, as long as it's after midterms :lmao: Right now, I don't know what's going to happen, so I'm still planning on the trip. I need a Disney fix :lmao:

Sounds like a life plan to me.....a Disney fix.....and more study. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a good plan, it's difficult to go back the later in life it gets. Good thing you are doing it before 30. :thumbsup2

Yeah, hopefully I'll be done around the time I'm 32. The AA program will take two years and through a reciprocity program in the state of Illinois, I'll get junior standing when I transfer, so that'll be another two years. So, yay!

Hi! Jumped over from the Oct 2012 thread. Your plans look great so far. Solo trips are always great because you can do whatever you want & not worry about anybody else. Looking forward to reading more about your plans :)

Hi! :welcome:

Thanks :) That's what I like about solo trips as well, but I do enjoy solo/Dismeet trips, since that means that I have someone to hang out with and talk to for a bit :lmao:

So with the going back to school how does that affect the 2013 Gamers meet?

Cool! I'm thinking at this point that's going to be the first time we'll have at meeting!

I'd have to agree. There's no way I'm going to be able to make it out to DLR this year :sad2: I wish I could, but it's just not going to happen, especially since I want to save as much as I can to go back to school.
