I'm looking for a nice hotel which faces the beach in Clearwater, St. Pete's or somewhere. I'm planning an overnight stay as I'm not too keen on the beach, but would like a day or two there. It would be nice to see the beach from a balcony.

Sorry if its a bit vague, but I have never been to a beach in Florida and just fancy that to mix things up a little.

This is the view from our 2nd floor room at the Tradewinds Island Grand on St Pete Beach in 2005.

Sheraton Sand Key Resort and Marriott Suites on Sand Key - both on Clearwater Beach and very nice - sorry no photos ;)
I do like the look of Claire's too though.

We got married at the hilton clearwater beach resort last november, i thought it was a lovely hotel, perfect setting right on the beach :)
They do have rooms overlooking the mariner & a road aswell though so i'd check to see if you can be guaranted a beach side room. Food in hotel expensive but some nice restaurants within walking distance.
Heres a pic of my brand new DH the morning after our big day on our balcony ;)

What a lovely view Claire. :goodvibes

We've booked a gulf view at the Grand Plaza at St Pete ~ it gets very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor ~ but if the view is as good as yours I'll be happy.

I would go for the Sheraton on Sand Key - a real little gem. Have also stayed at the Tradewinds Island Grand, which is bigger and has more pools, just doesn't have the homely appeal of Sand Key.

The Marriott suites aren't on the beach - short walk and a road crossing involved.

we stayed in the Tradewinds on St Petes as well
great hotel

We stayed at the best western seawake at clearwater for my 40th birthday had a room with a balcony overlooking the gulf and sat watching gdolphins playing in the sea as we drank a bottle of champagne cant wait to go back.
I would also recommend doing the little tug dolphin cruise if you can it was really well priced compared to the other dolphin cruises and the dolphins were so close to the boat it was amazing just make sure you have your camera
the batteries on ours went and i didnt manage to get any photos
so disappointed

Hate to be the bearer of bad news vicki12a but the best western is being demolished for condos :(

To all of those of you who stayed at Tradewinds, St Pete's, did you feel safe in the resort? Any tips about the resort or the beach, made our booking for later this year (tropical view)

We have always felt very safe at TIG. For restaurants Crabby Bills just down the beach by the Holiday Inn (the round hotel) is very nice for seafood and for steak Silas Dent's opposite TIG is very nice but can be expensive. For quick food the Flying bridge at TIG is good.

Claire,

thanks very much for the restaurant recommendations. I have made a note of them and hopefully will get to try all three.:woohoo:
